QuoteI'm really stuck Sad the only spells I have are alohomora and obliviate.

Try using alohomora to open stuff. I've found no use for obliviate as yet.

QuoteI don't know how to pass the potions exam. I got all spells except one. Any advice?

I'm not sure how to pass the potions exam either. I believe you have to get Drape distracted, and do something while he is distracted. But spells don't seem useful when Drape is around as he always says 'nullicifus'.

Quoteit was difficult to understand what exactly was happening with people running around and talking etc. I'm not sure if the game bugged or it if was supposed to be like that.

Yes, it's supposed to be like that. The other characters are interacting on their own while you do your own thing. I like that feature anyway, it the game more life. After you've played through the day once or twice, you should get the idea of what's going on anyway (since you have to repeat it to pass your exams ;)).

Iv4n - thanks! ATOTK is nearly finished. All necessary graphics are done, and I'll add in a few more animations as I like. Mainly scripting and bugfixing left, which is up to Radiant.

QuoteThe wand fx is cool, but I would have had it do that only on the menu screen.

You can turn that off with the Sparkerimousa spell.
And turning off music is Musiquietam. ;)

The GUI is default AGS; indeed, there wasn't much time to make a new GUI as we only started on the game halfway through the month, during which we were also quite busy with real life.

If you go back in time in midday, you can see all the characters move backwards for a short amount of time. Repeat the spell to get them to get them to travel as far back as you want.

Though, I'm not sure if you can keep your inventory items; at least, I always lose the cheatsheet when I go back.

My bad. I checked, and this works:

In the room editor, make a new object, and select the fire for the object. Put it in the pool and it will be extinguished

QuoteHOW do I put the fire out? Straight answer, please. All the hints in this thread weren't enough.

Spoiler
There's a pool of water in room 3. You need to fix that bug first, I think, though I can't remember for sure.

Spoiler
You can't use the fire ingame, but you can in the editor

Spoiler
Change the cursor to the fire, then go to room 3 in the editor, and click it on the pool

A Tale of Two Kingdoms has been invited to participate in the Adventure Developers Online Conference 2006. If you are interested in seeing new art or hearing more about the game, head over to here:

Questions welcome!

From crotch to the feet should be half the total height. At the moment it looks like you've done four heads from head to the crotch, and three heads from crotch to foot. I'm not sure the left leg (our left) looks correct - it seems to look like it is bending inwards (also because the hip is squashed) but the rest of the body is pretty much straight. Maybe drawing the legs without the skirt first might help.

QuoteI spelled it my way of course but the sounding is the same, the original is spelled, Cypselus.

Therefore, Sipcellus is not a Greek name, since you changed the spelling and made it a different name. ;)

A lot of Greek names have been Latinized though, see: http://www.behindthename.com/nmc/gre-anci.php . It has examples of actual ancient Greek names, and Latinized Greek names. I'd probably guess that Cypselus is Latinized too, Kypselos looks more Greek.

I'm confused though... in your first post you said "Long ago, no one knows the exact date but some assume it was long before even the great Hercules existed, etc", (Btw, Herakles, not Hercules) and now you say that Roman families migrated to Greece hence the justification for the name 'Victor'... but then it wouldn't have been such a long time ago if there are Romans migrating about (at least, not before Hercules. Rome conquered Greece in 146BC which isn't as ancient as your description implies; also, I doubt many Romans, if any, would've migrated to Greece before then). But 'Victor' itself wouldn't have been used as a name by the ancient Romans in the first place anyway.

Oh, and Nikolas is Greek, I assure you :P

Critics' Lounge / Re: Attempt at making earth
Sun 29/10/2006 10:04:54
The second once is better in that it's not such an irregular shape (though Earth is by no means perfectly round ;)). I think you're using too much smudge/blur/airbrush. Look at satellite photos of earth to see what colours it is - not all green and blue, and learn the basics about form so that things don't look so flat.

Open the book, then right mouse click until you get a 'Cast' icon. Press it over the spell, and if you have the correct ingredients you will make the spell, otherwise, you die.

Critics' Lounge / Re: game background

I think a larger range of values would help make the scene more interesting. (Pushing lights and darks). So really go somewhat lighter than what you have at the moment for the lit areas.

Also, there needs to be a haze between sea and sky. They don't tend to meet crisply, and the haze will help give the piece more depth. (Kiddie does the haze well)

Shadows need to diffract more (Not be so sharp around the edges, as the scene isn't a bright daytime scene)

And one of your pillars was a bit too wonky to look like it could stand on its own.

As for the bottom part of the cliff, with the hole in it - I think you have to decide how thick the supporting rock is, and have some of that showing on the side, otherwise those rocks look flat.

I had a go at painting it over... didn't do the hole under the cliffs well, and I could've made the haze hazier :P, but hope it helps.

Gwydion won't use that spell unless you actually need it to solve a specific puzzle. Though it probably would be more convenient for use for cliffs, you'll have to walk.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Forest (daytime)

Nice, but the trees and bushes are far too saturated in colour to be natural, and there's too much blackness in the piece as well. I'm also not sure where the lighting is coming from too (looking at the lit parts of the trees), and the floor seems very bright.

I think you need to plan composition better, and consider lighting and colours first before you start; nature tends to be more chaotic, and your trees are generally straight and nearly evenly distributed between each other.

QuoteAbsolutely totally stuck again, am trying to move dancers - but none want to be moved.Ã,  Guess it must have somehting to do with colours and squares but I can't figure it out, and whats this with the wizard - where the heck is he?

Spoiler
Well, the dancers are in your way. And have you seen their hats?
[close]
Spoiler
You have chess pieces for the hats. Meaning, they can only move to squares that follow the rule for those respective pieces.
[close]
Spoiler
The forward direction for the pawn is to the right.
[close]

Make sure you're actually clicking a dancer, and that you are clicking on a square that the particularÃ,  dancer can be moved to that is not occupied by another dancer.

The wizard comes later.
