Advanced Technical Forum / Error in test game

This window popped up when I was testing my game and closed everything down. It said 'An exception 0xC0000005 occurred in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x00422302: program pointer is +3330, ACI version 2.62.772, gtags (4,33)' What does it mean and what should I do?

I found the problem. If it's an mp3 and it's less than 2 seconds long it won't play so I just converted it to a wav. file. Everything works now.

SOUND1... I would've used SOUND0 but it said that SOUND0 (in the View mode) was for no sound.

Beginners' Technical Questions / Sound effects

I've followed the manual's istructions but my sound effect doesn't work.
I've got an mp3 sound file of a hammer hitting an anvil. One of the character's who is a weaponsmith is hitting the anvil with his hammer. I set it as an idle view. On the frame he hits it I've made it play the sound but I can't hear it. There's no problem with my speakers because it's playing the music in the background and the music isn't too loud for me to hear the sound effect either.

Can anybody tell me the exact way to add a mp3 music file to the first room of a game in simple terms? The manual doesn't make sense. I saved the file as 'music 1000.mp3' and in the first room I put 'play music on room load' [1000] and I tested the game. It said that it could not play music because it is an LFN and instead of 1000 in the box it has automatically put -24 in its place.

Can you change someones Talking view using the Interaction Editor?

Alas, I cannot aid you. I have tried myself to make a cut-scene at the beginning of a game but I did not prevail. I do not think you can unfortunately, for I have read the manual many times and have found nothing on the subject. The only thing I can suggest is that you make your cut-scene like in the game 'Spellbound' (to find out, download the game... it is under short games.) The author made a cutscene using flash 5 or another version and had it seperate. If you do not have the Flash 5 or any other version then sadly I don't think there is anything you can do.

I see, all you need to do is, say if you picked up an object. Not only do want to give you the item but you want to use the 'Game-SetVariableValue' Change the variable and then go to edit variables. Click on new variable and give it a name. Click OK and change the variable from Global 1 to the one you just created. Then change the value to 1. Go to your female characters talk interaction and add a conditional- if variable set to current value (1), run dialog or game-enable dialog option depending on what you want.

I apologize for getting your hopes up of getting advice but I can't see your problem clearly. Do you not know how to make your female character follow the main character,is it that when you want to talk to her it doesn't work?

How do you make an second inventory for other things e.g. One inventory for your items and one 'inventory' for different attacks in fighting like thrust, slash, chop etc. that would only be available when fighting.

Here is my problem.
In the talk to interaction of one of my NPCs I have tried to make it so it will 'run dialog X, then change variable X to X, run quick animation 1 and run quick animation 2'.
When I tested the game however. When you talked to him. It would run animations 1 and 2 and then run dialog. Why is this? and how can I change it so it will be in the order I mentioned at the top?
