Saturday Night Live?

Not Saturday Night Live.
But you reminded me of the hilarious clip with 'Bruce Dickenson', and more cowbell.

DRAGONS, DRAGONS, EVERYWHERE

I have a *slight* obsession with dragons.  There's so many different dragon species, and each of them just as glorious as the last.
I find these mythical beasts to be magnificant, powerful, magical, and completely fascinating!

But what do YOU think about dragons?
Are they the earth's savouir, man's protector, or the scurge of the earth?

I want you to tell me a story about a dragon or dragons.
-  Are you trying to protect a dragon?
-  Are you hunting a dragon?
-  Do you have a pet dragon?
-  Is your best friend a dragon?
-  Are YOU a dragon?

Let your imagination soar!  Your story can be funny, sad, heroic, whatever you want.  As long as it involves a dragon or dragons, I want to read it.

Yippeee!

Thanks everyone.  Really excited to have won first place.  :cheesy:
I enjoyed reading everyone's stories.

Frodo's story had great emotional intensity, and I liked how she dripped out the character development so that you only really understood the depth of the love felt by "him" for "it" by the end.  The one draw back for me, however, was the last sentence.

Now his death is on my hands!

It just kills the pathos I was feeling for this clearly grief-struck character.  She's already recognized that his death is because of her.  Repeating this detail in the most important slot of a very short story seems to imply an egocentricism that I didn't detect through the rest of the piece.  It seems to cheapen her feelings of guilt.  But otherwise fantastic story!

Thanks Baron, I'm glad you liked the story.
She loved him just as much as he loved her.  And the guilt and the grief are overwhelming for her.
I was going to end it with 'How can I go on without him?' , but that took it over the word count, so I had to take that sentence out.
Damn you and your evil word count, Baron.  Damn you, I say!

The next fortnightly competition will be up soon.

Can I suggest that voters are only allowed to vote on one story per author?

Otherwise, it's just a case of, the more times you enter, the more advantage you have over single entrants.

CURSE OF THE MOON

He's DEAD?  NO!  He CAN'T be dead!  I love him!  He is my LIFE!  Yet here he lies, in my arms.  His beautiful body, torn to shreds.  Because of ME!

He only ever tried to help me.  Even after he knew the truth about me, he wasn't afraid of me.  But he SHOULD have been.  Look what his love has done to him.

He KNEW the moon was full last night, but still he stayed with me.  I remember his comforting words, as he locked me in the cage.  And how he held my hand through the steel bars.  How could he know that I would break through the cage door?

His gun was loaded with silver bullets - why didn't he use it?  Why is it HIM that's dead, instead of me?  Now his death is on my hands!

Josiah gets the bonus points, and a cookie.

But Gilbert recognised it first, and got the original title, so I think the turn goes to him.

Hmmm no idea, but judging from the (fantasy?) setting it may be one of those text adventures Roberta Williams made before making KQ1.
Edit:
Spoiler
Ah well. Indeed it is. It is The Wizard and the Princess, the second game in the Hi-Res Adventure series(the first being Mystery House). Checking for games created by Roberta Williams before KQ1 in mobygames gave the answer immediately. I hope this is not cheating.

Spot on.  :cheesy:
Except this PC re-release (the screenshot is from the PC version) has a different title - bonus points if you can tell me that title.
