General Discussion / Re: Competition idea.

How about, instead of typing out a scenario or writing captions, the entrants actually make a short in-game video including the BGs, sprites and inventory items? The 'videos' could also be semi-playable, with the player choosing dialogue options, etc...

Then the winner of each competition supplies the images for the next competition (either draws them or takes them from a game somehow).

Edit: Dang Nipper got in before me, but hey.

Rui, tht was brilliant. The style was great, and it had a nice twist. I especially like the way it was mainly told from the father's point of view, and had great character studies.

There was one bit that seemed a bit awkward (the use of three parantheses in one sentence), but on the whole it was ace.

magintz - basically the Doctor used the nano gene thingies to fix everyone's DNA. He was really pleased 'cause everyone survived, for once.

Puddin' - Rose did the whole Bad Wolf thing herself, once she got the time field thingame in her head. She spread those words throughout time, as a message to herself, so that she'd know she could save the Doc. Bit of a paradox, that.

I saw the last episode, and I agree that the new guy looks like he could be pretty good. He looked a tad funny in Chris E's clothes though. They seemed a bit too big.

One question, what's going to happen to Jack? They just left him there to rot.

Poor lad.

Hey Brat.

I can understand that you're kinda anxious to get your story read, but bumping posts is kinda against the rules. If you really want some feedback on your story, here's a good place to go:

Great Writing

It's UK based, but it'll probably be of use to you anyway.

I played that game once (actually, about 50 times, as I kept getting blown up right at the start).

It is indeed insane, and amazingly hard. Some of the puzzles, especially those inside the Heart Of Gold, are a bit too random for my liking, and it's because of this that I never finished it.

If anyone's interested, though, you can play it online, for free, here.

You can save your games, too.

I agree that the film was basically OK, but what was with the whole section to do with Zaphod getting his head stolen? Although the coming of the big white handkerchief and the planet (I forget its name) that the guys land on are both mentioned in the book, I just don't see the sense in putting this stuff into the film in the way they did. The time used in these scenes could have been more wisely used by includig parts of the book that were left out.

Also,
Spoiler
Why did the dolphins return at the end? Did the makers of the film simply not read pas the second book? They're gone forever! Even on the new Earth! Arg...
[close]

It was a funny film, but, as mentioned by others, the characters and events seem to have been misinterrperated in the film.

Okay, a little off topic, but...

Does anyone know if that Bonsai Kittens thing is real? I didn't think it was, and then I got a load of people shouting at me that it was, so then I thought, 'hmm... maybe it IS real...' and so a load of people shouted at me that it wasn't.

Some of those pictures do look quite convincing... but I'm just not sure.

Anyone know?

I used to have one of those adventure books, it was a Sonic the Hedgehog interactive adventure, as I recall. Oh, how I loved that book.

The only niggle I had was that you could die so easily at some points, which annoyed me because I always went back a few pages and felt like a cheat. Ah, well...
