Hooray! Welcome back to the real world!

As I said, they're centered around (0,0), which on the screen is the top left corner. Add the coordinates of the point you want to be the centre, and that's all, assuming you've made sure it's all scaled properly.

I don't really see the necessity to use matrices to look at this issue... it's not useful at all from either a mathematical or a practical viewpoint.

But yes, that's pretty much right... you'd get the x and y coordinates on the screen by dividing through z, but it's centered around the point (0,0), so you need to offset it. Also, depending on how you got the three-dimensional coordinates, you might need to flip the sign on the y as well. If it still doesn't work, try multiplying x and y by, say, 256 before the division, then dividing again. That should improve accuracy without forcing you to use a floating point plugin.

You should all stop talking and use Contiki.

I wouldn't exactly outright disable saving/loading - if a player abuses these features, it's their own fault if they end up missing a large part of the game's feel.
One other problem I see with the idea is the designer potentially either having to cope with many massively diverging puzzle routes (if not necessarily plot developments) or a mechanistic "Do A in one of four ways, then do B in one of three ways, then do C in one of five ways" thing. I do think, however, that you are right and it can be done - it's just that it is not at all easy to accomplish.

On the subject of "walking deads", I always thought that term referred not to death scenes, but to true dead ends where the player might become stuck because they forgot to do something hours before and are unable to go back, forcing them to backtrack through their saved games, often without even knowing what they missed and when. It goes without saying that this kind of thing should be avoided.

sum-41: these aren't related to popups on websites, which are easily avoided by anyone not silly enough to still use Internet Explorer.

Everything sells. You'll always find somebody stupid enough to buy it if you look thoroughly, which is why spam exists. The average response rate is way below 0.1% as far as I know, but when you're sending out millions of mails a day, that's enough. (which means that there are apparently people who will not only fall for anything, but will do so again and again)

If this is what it sounds like, you don't need a special program to get rid of it. Just disable the Windows messenger service.

Here is one of the numerous pages that tell you how to do this.

There you go.

If you want more booklet-ish things, use double-wide images and staple them together like so:

You don't. You upload it somewhere and use it in your post via the good old bbcode tags. For example, if your image is located at http://asdruihofvnuaeiorsz7iasnodfiaz7sd.com/pyt2.gif, you'd put [ img ]http://asdruihofvnuaeiorsz7iasnodfiaz7sd.com/pyt2.gif[ /img ] without the spaces, and it would look like this:

If it's still not clear, click on reply with quote and you'll see the bbcode of this post.

Not if you set it up properly. I don't know what software you're using, though, so I can't tell you how to do that.
#273
Depends on the resolution you want, really. The size is 4.718 inches high by 4.75 inches wide. At 300 dpi, for example, that comes to 1415x1425 pixels.

Well, seriously, my first idea was Hitlers' book "Mein K...." cant remember the title completly, but without the communist manifesto, i doubt there would be his... so I take mine back.

"Mein Kampf". Its importance is a little overrated, though, because a) it's much more effect than cause and b) nobody ever read the damn thing anyway - it was given out to Germans by the millions, but it almost always just ended up sitting on some shelf gathering dust.
The book is incredibly badly and tediously written (the reason for this is that the later dictator dictated it all, rambling on and on and repeating himself again and again), and often clumsily phrased to the point of being amusing.

Serdar Somuncu, a German/Turkish actor who has toured Europe reading excerpts from it, has said that Mein Kampf is the best weapon against Mein Kampf. On several occasions, neonazis have come to readings, sitting in the front row and being demonstratively unamused. The ridiculousness of their great idol's ideas and language never failed to make them uneasy.

I'd add Euclid's Elements to the list.

Blah. I have neither the time nor the skills for anything decent, so here's this.

It would be amusing, yes, but they found out what it was going to do by looking at the machine code, so it's not actually possible.

Also, the DDoS attack targets windowsupdate.com, not microsoft.com. Microsoft say they're prepared (and windowsupdate.com has been removed), but we'll see.

Short answer: No. Doesn't work.

Why? Because you've got a limited set of colours to work with, and if you want transparency, you'll need to have one colour for each combination of foreground and background. This can be reasonably approximated in highcolour or truecolour graphics, but in palette games you have two choices: making "transparent views" for the character consisting of interchanging opaque and keyed (transparent/invisible) pixels or calculating the RGB value you need and finding the best approximation in your palette, which is a stupid idea for obvious reasons.
Which means that if you want reasonable transparency, you're going to have to switch your game to highcolour.

Check what your IP resolves to. If it's a Croatian address (ends in .hr), that's the problem. It would be strange, but as you're in a neighbouring country, it's at least conceivable.

Edit:

Ah, edit while I'm typing, will you? Well, I've checked, and it seems that your ISP is banned. I don't know why, though. Maybe Czar (who is the reason Croatia is banned) used it at some point.

You don't need the root, just use the square of the radius.
