I have already solved tha problems i had with lycos, now I'm waiting they to decide to return the access to the page of the game. But at this time (while I'm writing), they haven't given me the cotrol back. I'll hope a days, and then I'll take another way to solve the problem and give you the another link to the game.

Don't worry. I'm worried about it and I will solve it.

Hy there!

I'm trying to make a GUI like the one in Monkey Island 3. I mean the actions panel appear when you click the right button of the mouse. First I almost got it, but when I made another GUI that follows the mouse all over the screen for showing the hotspots, the Action panel GUI didn't work anymore. Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Hy there!

Sice I've finnished my first game, and while I'm developing the English version of the same, I'm seeing how to make new GUIs.
My problem is that, when I try to make a GUI in a game at 640x480, the GUI appear at the double size it should really be.
Why?!?!
How can I correct it?
I need the GUI appear at the same size i made it graphic for.
Help!

Ladies and gentlemen. I'm proud to present you, at last, the Spanish version of my very first project: 'The Mystery of the Art School". It was available for downloading at the really recent site of the game, but server gave problems (always those servers >:(), but I found another website for the game. For avioding problems of maximum file size, I used Hacha to divide the Installer (originally of 15 MB) into 8 files of 2 MB aproximately. You should download Hacha from my website too, it is totally free and sure, and without Hacha you'll not be able to join the 8 files into the executable installer again, a little sacrifice. I hope this time the server could allow me to live in peace writting in these forums about the game with all of you. ;D

and here is the link to the program "Hacha"

The original title is "El Misterio de la Escuela de Arte", so don't get stranged when seeing it in Spanish, because it still is in pure Spanish, but I'm working hard with the English version. I hope it can be finnished soon.

Here it is. Thanks for all the hope you gave me during the creation of the game. Thanks to all of you. ;)

I really like that idea. Twins with special gifts... nice story, and nice graphics too! I'll be waiting for it.

Nice work!
#109
Keep up the effort?

I'm glad to announce that the effort is growing up day by day. I hoped it to go slower, but I'm working faster than I expected. ;D
The only two things left are final cutscene and credits
After those I'll enter the beta testing phase.

The Spanish version is too close.

Thanks Darth Mandarb, but I originally used to upload 4 shots to Neole's Upload page, the problem is that they just were uploaded one dayÃ,  :P. I've found the problem, and it's solved yet, I hope not to make it again, it is no very confortable for me to modify the post one day after another

I just have uploaded those shots again. And sometimes I'll try to solve the problem each time it whatever it would be.

More yet, the project goes on, I have just updated the first post to inform about that.

Thanks for your interest.

I think these are the keys:

1) Good argument. Something original or, if not original, focussed from a new point of view.
2) Atmosphere. Once you have an Story, think how to show it. How is going the player feel like if he were in the game? What emotions you want to make feel to the player?
3) Graphics. This helps a lot. Of course is much better a game with a very detailed graphics than one made quickly with MS Paint. Unless, of course, the atmosphere needs it.
4) Make it with love. The most important thing you must do. It sounds odd, but if you feel right when making your game, it's easier to make it well and the most important, it's easier to finnish it. People also feel that, ¿Do you think that '5 Days a Stranger' was done without attention or without desire? I think Yahtzee was specially inspired. Just an example.

Of course I have a demo version of the Project. But I'm afraid that is too big for pass it through msn. First I'm going to finnish it, then I'll try to make the games lighter, and then I'll go looking a way for give you the version youi want Spanish or English.

Thanks for your help.

Just wait, it's growing up day by day.

P.S: Sorry for the bronken links of the Screens

That's right. Let's play a trilogy.

There's only one thing: The Idol with John DeFoe's soul has been destroyed at the cold space in the far Caracus Galaxy. This means, Jonh DeFoe is now frozen space dust in a Galaxy whit no inhabitants. So it's difficulto to make another Sequel.

How about a Prequel? A story that tells wath happened between 5 Days a Stranger and 7 Days a Skeptic. There a story. The Idol was found by someone, A Mrs.Taylor got killed, there can be a conection (for not to say that there MUST be a conection)

The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?
Thu 05/08/2004 02:08:05
That's a long story.

Since I have memory, the dream of my life was make my own videogame. I was a child, i played  games like Monkey Island or Day of the Tentacle, And then I said, I have to makle one of these. My own adventure game.

Years passed, And I was fourteen. Some friends and I found a program that at first time looked easy to use, and allowed us to make simple games. We made a little very silly games of the tipical spaceship tha kils martians. That was so simple, that was our first step into the world of programation and creation of games, but that wasn't still my dream.

Two years passed, and we found RPG Maker and MUGEN, but we never enden a game with those programs. We made up an amateur group dedicated to just trying to make an acceptable game. But we failed at the attemp.

Finally, one yaer ago, I made the discover. In a page "witch name I don't want to remeber", I found a link to the web page of a programthat was said that was able to create Adventure Games easily. I though :"that's not possible, I must be just another program like RPG Maker, that makes all the games equal" But I found the program, saw it was free, installed it, and started to think tha heaven finally gave me the key to make my chilhood dream come true. I started building my dream with a game that my friends though it should be unfinnished, like the ones before I discovered AGS.

Has passed a year since that, and I'm just a few days of work of making true my dream, with the game that my friends though I could not finnish.

That's my story about how I discovered AGS.

I'd give you some screenshots. But I have no access to a web site for posting anything yet, so I can't make links to anywhere. I hope I have a website for the game once finished.

Sorry

Hy there. It's me G, tha Spanish AGSer.

There's a place in the little spanish city of Toledo, where students don't have to study maths, biology, or sciences. You would be saying "Yeah, your dreaming, man". No! This place really exists, and is called the Art School of Toledo.
This is where the story takes place. You're a very lazy student who gets late (again) to class at the Art School, but when you reach there, you discover that a terrible, awful, horrible and absolutely not important (unless for you) thing has happened. But what really marks you is the fact that someone tells you that there are millenaire catacombs under the Art School that hold dark secrets and a long ancient story (or that is what the main character thinks). Then you must skip classes for find the way to get into the catacombs, and discover what misteries are kept in the deepest caves of Toledo.

This game is a homage to all of you, the followers of the adventure games, to LucasArts, to Monkey Island (not misunderstand me, it's a homage, not a plagiarism, I must take care of the few reputation I have), and of course, it is a homage to all my partners at the Art School.

There was some screenshots, but the images got lost. I have just re-uploaded them, I hope I can make them to stay for a while.

Just one of the places of the craciest school:

Behold the Jungle:

The entrance to the Art School:

Summon legendary creatures to get your objetive:

And face the reborn fear itself... (Not available picture, if I show it I'll waste up the bad of the movie)

Yes AGSers, this game is based on real places, on real people! But watch out! It's not based on real facts.

And this is the notice! The Spanish version is finished! And I'm working now in the English version (with some help from here), I can't know exactly how many time I'm going to be working on the English version, but one thing is sure, I need help. As soon as the game could have a web page, I'll upload the game and announce it as finnished and available.

Interested? answer here or mail me, please.
Let's finish "The Mystery of the Art School" together
Ayudadme a acabar "El Misterio de la Escuela de Arte" para que todos puedan disfrutarlo.

Thank you all.

Thanks Scorpiorus.

This script is a very nice work.
#119
Well. I tried doing it like you said, Strazer.
But it didn't work. I don't know why.

The script starts well, but when it chages to the following script it gives the sames results than making all in one only script. The image just fades off, and goes to the same room it was, without moving the character to the written co-ordinates.
I tried even using the interaction editor instead the script, but it fails too.

I feel I'm going crazy... (I hope not)

Don't smash your heads no more, my friends.

The Spanish AGSer known as G has found an aesier way to solve his own problem.

I thank you all the help you gave me, finally I don't used it now, but I'm sure it will be very usefull for my future scripts.

Now, maybe you'll want to know how I solved the problem of the regions. Well. I'll explain the situation again.

There's a room where the player character (our old friend EGO), has to get into for interacting with an object. The problem of the puzzle: a character that can see EGO for multiple reasons that we don't need to know. Then,at the moment EGO enters the room, he stays hidden behind a door, of course we can see him, but we supose the other character can't. At the moment the player orders EGO to leave the door to interact with the object, EGO wlks over a region and stops, turning back, and hidding again. My problem was that, when the player ordered EGO to interact with the object, he simply goes to the object and runs the script related to the object, ignoring the region's script.
How I solved it? Easy. EGO is hidding from the other character, so he has to eliminate him before he can walk freely throught the room. So I went to the InteractionEditor for editing the object's script, opened the script and wrote this:

if (character[CHARH].room !=28); {
(several actions that happens when player interacts with the object)
}
else {
Display ("I can't, he will see me");
}

And that's my way. While the other character stays in the room, EGO won't want to interact. Easy.

Thank you for all your help, your in my Special Thanks list yet. But now I have other problem...
But that will be in another topic.
