As atmospheric as the songs are by themselves, it's very nice to be able to understand the lyrics now. I'll give the album another listen while reading along. Cheers.

Of course not, I would be flattered. I'm glad you could use the links. Good luck with the game.

I used Photoshop, but the only "photoshoppish" thing I did with it was add a bit of noise to the text. I found the M*A*S*H font on this site, and the typewriter font can be found here.

As for the button layout, I actually prefer ManicMatt's. That's how most modern games show their menus. The only reasons I put the buttons on top was 1) to not deviate too much from yours and 2) take up some more of that boring gray sky area.

Or better, replace the file with a fake one containing a text file, stating that whoever paid to download this file is being ripped off, and ask them to contact you and tell you where they found the link if not on your own site.

I think you should try changing the fonts to something more suitable for the theme of the game. Think military, think conspiracies. What came to my mind were two options - an old fashioned typewriter font and a stencilled font, as you would see on military vehicles or stamped on crates. Also, the red color on the first image really dominates the image and detracts from the lovely background picture. I made a quick mock-up with a font similar to that used for the M*A*S*H logo. I'm not crazy about the way the numbers look, and the logo isn't quite centered, but it's just to show what I mean.

Quote from: FrancoFranchi on Wed 03/01/2007 00:05:07I'm hoping The Lost Element and Shadowplay are still in development - they both seem incredible!

There was just an update of the Lost Element's games-in-production thread, and as for Shadowplay, yes it's very much in the works still. And I'm happy to see that people still remember the project :)

Edit: Heh, yeah I took it to mean The Forgotten Element. But now we have Legend of the Lost Lagoon, Legend of the Lost Jewel, MI The Lost Years, Lost in the Nightmare, so why not also a Lost Element.

But isn't on_mouse_click called whether the GUI is clickable or not? Why even distinguish between whether the mouse is over the gui or not? When the gui is visible, it's always moved so that it's under the cursor as far as I can tell from the repeatedly execute script.

If it works, cool. But I'd still like to know why the original code wasn't.

Too bad, I like easy solutions too :). It's still the only sensible solution I can see (since you're saying that it doesn't make any difference if you insert eMouseRight instead). Are you sure the game isn't paused for one reason or another? What if you move the "if (button == eMouseMiddle)" code to the very top of on_mouse_click?

For the sake of debugging, I would remove the interface_click code at least. It shouldn't be necessary to perform the action you want and may be contributing to the problem.

Well, you're checking for IsGamePaused() at the beginning of the function. If the GUI is set to pop-up modal, the game WILL be paused while it's displayed so the function won't run and thus the button click doesn't register.

The hair and gown in that walkcycle are absolutely amazing. Was this drawn from any kind of reference?

There ARE ways to do it (try searching the forum using the word "isometric"), but I don't really think it's worth it - there is no good reason for the character to stand right there anyway. And sure, there is a way to erase walkable areas. Just paint it with walkable area color 0.

This is the cutest Roger ever, like 'Saint-Exupéry's Space Quest' or something. Someone should really do a game with adventure game characters as kids, so you'd have L'il Larry and L'il Graham and... Ahem, well back to the sprite, the only problem I see - if this is indeed the style you want - is that the eyes seem rather square.

Seeing as the URL of the site says free-game-downloads (ironic, yes), and several places specify that the games are - to their knowledge - free, it's not a big step for the user to do a quick google search.

Very nice. My only real issue is the texture angle of the triangular wall as seen in your first version. I wonder how it would look if you just kept the tiling horizontal. Also, I'd really like to see some light sources in the room.

Considering that the same site also has abandonware (including Sierra games that are now being sold in compilations), a few emails to the right people could probably get the site closed down. That said, I find it unlikely that anybody is actually paying them instead of looking elsewhere for the same games.

I don't consider the houses very cartoony, but rather shown through an extreme wide angle, fish-eye lens. I think you'll have to mess around a lot with walkable area scaling to get characters to look right in this perspective.

I do agree with Evil that some of the colors should be de-saturated. My biggest problem is the purple shading on the white house - that almost looks like some purple goo oozing out from the windows. The purple house to the far left also seems a bit too much.

As unlikely as it seems for Rosangela to be taking notes at this point in the story, perhaps it would be an idea to check her notepad?

Most probably you didn't try to combine different facts in your notebook. This was something that took me a while to get used to when playing The Shivah as well (and Discworld Noir before that).

Joey won't talk to you, because you would seem like a crazy person talking to thin air... what if Kelly thought you were actually talking to someone?
