After getting so drunk, he regretted his actions and wanted to be born again and start his life anew.

I know what DG was doing. He was making educational tv programmes about Australian flora and fauna.

If your soundcard doesn't have this option built-in, I'm sure there are programs that let you record anything that goes through the soundcard output.

On my computer, I go to the volume mixer thingy, and choose "What U Hear" [sic] for recording, instead oft he default "Microphone". Then I just open my favourite sound editing program, press record and play the tune in whatever program I feel like listening to the song in.

Play hi-fi (or lo-fi, if you don't have cable)

It's some 13th century English music. To me, track 5 on that album sounds like something you'd want.

You can only pay for the music if you have a credit card or PayPal. But if you aren't too concerned with quality, you could just save the streaming mp3 as a wav (and then encode it again, if necessary, but quality would suffer). Or I could do it for you. Not that it would be legal, though...

I can recommend the classical section of that site.
There's lots of other interesting "early" music there.

All these arguments remind me why I like the "make background music for this picture/story/scene" kinds of contests more. :P

Antonio Salieri - Amadeus (F. Murray Abraham)
One of my favourite characters ever. He was the best composer of them all, his prayers had worked. But then that obscene little child Mozart appears and improvises the hell out of Salieri's welcome march. I just love how insanely jealous and denying he looks during that particular scene.

I agree with many of the above posts, but I don't want to repeat what's already been said.

It would all be nice and pretty if everybody used common sense.
Unfortunately that seems to be too much to expect from people.

Look at the date of the latest news post and be discouraged!

We do nothing... but we do it together.

Finally a really useful easter egg!

And now for a song from the unreleased adventure game for the Commodore 64 "They Wandered Through The Gloomy Nights Of Doomy Doom". It is insane, silly and dissonant.

Quotethey're not quite the same speed though 1632 kbps is probably about what I'd expect on a 200kbyte connection. The KBPS stands for kilo-bits per second. Divide that by 10 and you've got your Bytes Per second. Why 10? Because 8 bits = 1 byte, +1 parity bit, +1 stop bit. That's why your max BPS rating when using a 28.8 modem was a simple conversion to 2.88 k/second. (Aside from compression, of course) It gets more confusing when you don't know if your ISP has rated your connection in marking Kilos or scientific Kilos. (1000 vs. 1024). All in all, a pain in the ass.

Pain indeed. That's why I say "the highest download speed I've seen is 800k/s" if somebody asks me how fast a connection I'm on.

And now someone did.

I've downloaded at 800k/s. Which means it'd take me 4.5 seconds to download the latest version of AGS.

Of course, none of this is true now that I'm home for Christmas. Yay for 64k isdn.

Ad Verbum is brilliant. I obey Pesty by loving it. It's basically filled with word puzzles. Clever word puzzles that you'll end up loving too, not just horrible puns or something like that. I love it.

That would make him...

A COMMUNIST!

Playing an IF is like reading a book, whereas playing a graphic adventure is more like watching a movie. One can be just as interesting and mature as the other, and they both have their own advantages and disadvantages.

It is easier for you as a player to get involved in the world of the IF game (if it's done well), simply because there are more verbs than "walk to", "look", "use" and "talk" at your disposal. There's also something about reading descriptions of rooms instead of actually seeing them that makes the whole experience much more real. You get to imagine what it's actually like.

On the other hand...

...

Actually, I can't really think of any major advantages to graphic adventures when compared to interactive fiction (graphics and sound may or may not be an advantage).

I still love both, in case you were wondering.

QuoteWhenever I play 3D shooters, it disappoints me that you have all these beautifully modelled surroundings and characters and all you do is put bullet holes in them. It's such a waste. In my mind, the perfect neo-adventure game would be a third-person game with a Max Payne-style over-the-shoulder view semi-attached to the character (similar to the first Hitman game, where you could move the camera in a half circle around the character without changing the way he was facing). And just like the Hitman games, you would have a cursor that would highlight whenever you moved it over interactable objects. When you clicked on them, you would have some sort of verb-coin or tlj-like interface. Character movement with keys, cursor movement with mouse.

Broken Sword 3 nearly did it right, except it removed mouse control and it added too many non-adventure obstacles (boxes, nuff said). As soon as some designer realizes that action-adventure graphics doesn't necessarily mean action-adventure gameplay, I think a lot of you are in for a pleasant surprise.

Whoa, you took the words right out of my mouth. I couldn't agree more.

If only Hitman 3 turned out like the original (and by that I mean that shooting your way through is near impossible, unlike the far too easy Hitman 2) I'd definitely consider that an adventure. The Thief games are also a couple of gems I'd like to think of as adventures. Not adventure games, but adventures. And they're damn close to being what I would think of as the perfect game.

Heh, it doesn't seem like people are "feeling the need to disprove it" to me. Pessi merely stated that he doesn't think it works. He didn't try to prove anything, and neither has anyone else. :P

Me? I'm neutral, as always. My name's description is quite accurate, but at the same time I have a hard time thinking every damn Andreas out there is just like that. Neither side has enough proof to convince me.

Panda: I think that liberals and conservatives both can agree that not having Saddam in power or in threat of being in power is a good thing. They just disagree on how it happened ;D.

It's like how different religions disagree on how exactly we should love our neighbours.
Expect this to go on for a long time. :P

QuoteYour first name of Andreas has created a deep, sensitive, refined nature with an intelligent mind and a keen appreciation of material values. You enjoy all the finer things in life that a good standard of living allows. You have good business judgment and would do well in a managerial position, as you have executive ability. You work best in an independent capacity, where you are able to think problems out carefully before you act. Your sensitivity and reserve prevent people from coming close in friendship. There is always an aloofness and reserve that acts as a barrier and prevents any close ties.

Well, I don't know about the refined and intelligent mind, and the good business judgment bit is probably not true (can't say I've ever been in a managerial position, so who knows?), but the rest looks pretty good.

And now for the closest name to my nickname I could find:

QuoteThe name of Ghorghor creates a happy, versatile, and expressive nature, with good business judgment and a fine sense of responsibility, which should enable you to establish congenial relationships in positions of trust where you are dealing with the public. You have a clever, quick mind, with the ability to accomplish a great deal in a short period of time, although it is not easy for you to systematize your efforts. This name could allow expression along musical and artistic lines and gives you the desire to entertain and to meet and mix with people of refinement and culture.

It's funny, because I use my nickname for anything musical and "artistic" I create.

Ah, yes! I like these kind of themes. I'll give it a shot.

Edit:

Well then. The ditty is done. It is very short in order to stay under the 1MB limit, but as it's supposed to be looping background music I think it works.
