As far as I know you can only access 2 buttons (left/right), and the mousewheel (though only for scrolling, not for clicks).
No idea if there is a plugin, but I know of no "vanilla workaround".

Pic's just a bonus, but thanks a lot for the kind words!

The truly important thing is that you all have some fun tonight. I scared nine kids already and I haven't even dressed UP yet :D

I don't get the first one.

Same here. How can you use "crappy" and "AC/DC" in the same sentence?

Another engine well suited for RPGs is 001 Game Maker (http://www.engine001.com). It has a free version, exports to mobile, and is geared towards 2D RPGs. Think "RPG Maker" for free. A full-fledged commercial version (GG Maker) is also available, and supports 3D.

I hope getting to this MAGS cave I hear about is not too difficult and that the mantle therein provides you with warmth and comfort during your tenure ;)

I did some research. There IS a MAGS Cave, and it has a mini bar that requires a secret handshake.

You've made an awesome MAGS host, Atelier, and your random posts shall never be forgotten. Best of luck, sir!

Does Stupot get to pick up the mantle? Is there some MAGS Cave somewhere? There IS a mantle, right?

I steam-cleaned my hat in order to be able to properly tip it.
Do your thing, man (nod)

Also please make the Make My Game button work again.

In all fairness, it is not a bad program. I've used the free version for a while and it's nice and easy to get into. The scripting is fairly simple and the amount of tutorials is staggering.

IMO it suffers from being just a bit too generic. A specialised toolkit (like AGS) will always be better suited towards their intended end product. GameMaker offers "everything" and, as a result, doesn't really shine in any way.

If you are actually considering making a point-and-click adventure with GameMaker, it is ill equipped for that. If you want to try out simpler stuff like retro arcade games or maybe a shmup, it's easy to recommend it though, especially for the price.

Another thing is the licensing. I never really understood it. YOu need a rather expensive license to distribute games without the GM logo, and some versions are only to be used for freeware games, and it's really a bit of a mess.

A more careful approach...

there will be a serious underlying story to discover, or the players can go wild and sell fine leather jackets! :D

I don't know how they'll play it, though, since it seems their fingers are broken. I mean, why else wouldn't they spend the nanosecond(s) it would take to type the post letting us know that they claimed it?(wtf)

Pretty sure there's some key-fishing going on here, and that is sad. The only remdedy I can think of is a ten-year project to give all fishing bots noses, and then break them, and then teaching them to type, with their noses. It can be done, with science.
And that'll teach'em.

I think you should add some highlight/rimlight to the shadowy figure in the foreground. It stands in a very dark place already and is almost swallowed by the surrounding shadows. Even the goddamn Batman is never fully black :D

There is a solution, AGS supports "#ifver" command.

Yes, that's what I had in mind. Should be fun revisiting that ole babe of a template :)

I like to use the alpha because the developers need feedback and bug reports now, not when the official version is released. I don't know if it is popular, though.
Since the template is shipped with AGS, at least for the final release it has to be working with the engine/editor.

Yes, those are both valid points, and the changes are important and easy to alter. Thanks- I'll update ASAP!

The version included in the latest alpha needs to be updated, i.e. processClick.

What exactly has changed that requires an update? I haven't used the alpha at all, yet (and don't intend to, since an alpha is a work in progress with things bound to change more). IS the alpha so popular and so widely in use?

UNCONTROLLABLE
- Actually, it was not random at all.

That is true, and I felt a bit bad for not keeping a promise. But to be honest, the game is not even uncontrollable. It's quit by a mouse click, which counts as control. So not only did I abuse the theme, I technically also defied it.
And maybe defiled it too.

It sure looks like a fun game-in-the-making. I remember another pony adventure game from way back then; it used vector art I think. The pixels do look pretty good!

Best of luck with the project... and what exactly is happening in the 3rd row, middle pic? Slenderpony? Superscare? Someone painted you white? Stonyfication?

And to think I used to wonder if people wouldn't shy away from a 3MB download...

It's been said before, but I really think the solution is to use a lower resolution and probably assign less frames to animations. I get the idea that these days you want super-smooth walkcycles with 60+ frames, but that's hardly ever needed. There's a point where the eye doesn't even notice the extra frames anymore.
