Happy Birthday to the venerable CJ- we miss you here!

And also to a very weird guy, called veryweirdguy. He sent me on a Costume Quest and made me a Psychonaut, too- a happy birthday!

Sprite Lamp looks awesome!

Really does! That's something I'd actually back; it really looks amazing.

Waitasec! Isn't anybody a bit creeped out by that shadowy traveller? We just shrug and say, yupp, mage? What is that danger?

Also, I think it would be important to create a royal newspaper where we could "inform" our people about the policies we intend to do.
At the same time, we could allow at least one public/private newspaper as well, that way we could grasp the public opinion about the King.

+1 on both. The advisors will surely tell us what their "groups" think about us, but I like the idea of seing it all on one page. And informing the public sounds really useful.

Still: Another audience?

I would love to know if Ghost is still working on Collateral Jelly and if not, he should :)

Actually, yes. It was supposed to be my Halloween surprise for this year! Unfortunately I got sick a lot and did not make it, but, well, pretty sure to make it my New Years Eve surprise.

Only now it won't be a surprise anymore, but hells, just for REMEMBERING the game you deserve a cookie!

Baron's entry scares the hell outta me... (nod)

It seems we won a lot there. The castle and the town have now protection, we are about to learn more of the land, and we have a new advisor. This is a good start. I say we hold another audience.
Also: I'd like to know if we need to take care of "mundane needs"- do we have to provide food to advisors and staff?

I would make a [separate] character and assign the marker animation as its view. You can then use the FollowCharacter command:

Character.FollowCharacter(Character* chartofollow, optional int dist, optional int eagerness)
"Tells the character to follow CHARTOFOLLOW around, wherever he goes. You could use this command to have a group of main characters who go around together, or for example when the hero has rescued someone from the bad guy, they can follow the hero home."

Since you can stop, change and switch animations for characters easily, all you mention in your post can be done easily. Simpler than a GUI, and much better than an object (which could only be used in ONE room).

I was thinking of a solution that's not perfect but might do the trick : displaying 4 (or 8) times the text in black, with 1-pixel shift in every direction,, under the actual coloured text.

Maybe off-topic, but I remember CJ mentioning that automatic font outlines *are* generated that way by AGS itself. That was way back in the days of 2.7x though.

2. During the rule, we may have to do some 'dirty work'. If Lancelot would leave us at that very moment, at that crucial time, what's the use of him then?

That may be true, but I feel this is a starting position we are in here. As I see it, Lancelot is competent and loyal, and should be worth his money. A cheaper hero may do us less good, and if we THEN return to Lancelot and offer him the job, he may be a bit bitter about it. Since we know almost nothing about the kingdom we rule, a hero with background knowledge sounds especially useful, and Jester actually got out of his way to tell us this is a fantasy kingdom. "Loyalty" sounds as if it had some effect/power- though I admit this is probably me projecting something that isn't there.
Fact is, we need a hero to get a map. The map will remain even if the hero leaves.

Lancelot seems a good first choice. If Jester is right he's loyal as long as we play by the rules, that is a great bonus.
I say we take him aboard; who's with me?

Looks yummy, downloading! And to think you made this in GameMaker! That's quite an achievement!

QuoteHe's a pirate / detective / ninja / viking who goes on many adventures.

He's also an attractive young lady speaking perfect English only in her inner monologues. She fought the Blues Brothers once and they had to undulate away. Epic.
