Happy Birthday, WHAM!

(the above is a wham line)

Absolutely personal opinion: Legend's games were my literal gateway from interactive fiction to point and click. I played Gateway and a few other titles and was fascinated by the graphics complimenting the familiar text based interface. While I never finished Gateway I still remember that sense of wonder it caused in a younger me, the feeling to have a vast world to explore, and many many actions at my disposal. So with retro glasses firmly in place I'd say any remake that remains faithful to the original is a good thing.

I do admit though that I've come to prefer the more dynamic and "cinematic" vibe of graphical point and click. At their best, they are like playing a movie and I do enjoy seeing something others made "just for me to enjoy". From that perspective I daresay that no matter how great and cool your remake, the interface alone will probably make younger gamers (who haven't earned their retro glasses yet) hesitant to even try it out.

Since that's rarely a valid argument on a forum dedicated to already "old, niche, and utterly dead (only not really)" games... I say go for it full speed :D

Thanks if you allow me to do this further, in a seperate Thread in case i really dont find anything for some time.

I can't "not allow" you (since I am no moderator), and see no sense in doing so anyway. We all have beginner's questions; language barrier is a factor too. I just wanted to offer some additional starting tips ;) Happy game-making, too (nod)

kampfkaese, you're opening several threads with very basic questions, most of which are covered in the manual- maybe keep one thread open and update it with questions, or do a short forum search if a question has already been asked (they all have been).
The Getting Started section of the manual and the excellent Densming AGS tutorials on youtube cover much of what you're asking, too.

This is not meant to be rude, but you're basically going through all the question everyone has when first starting with AGS ;)

Instead of coordinating an animation with a scripted movement, I recommend turning the character invisible, make a separate animation containing table and cat, and use that. It sounds overkill but it gives you way more precision.

A happy belated one to Ylich, and a proper contemporary birthday to Calin, somewhere in the leaf-shades.

Lovely demo. I remember playing the original back then- never beat it though :-[ Your remake feels faithful, and the touch-ups are all justified, so well played!

Ghost, I have dozens of pfennig (plural pfennige?) going all the way back to 1949...is them being run over by trains a common enough occurrence to make a collection out of them?

I think it's more a thing I once started to do for the sheer sake of it. I spend a lot of time at railway stations and puting coins on the rails is popular around where I live. It's like collecting stones with a hole in them, I guess.
I have, so far, roughly 46 utterly flat pieces of small change :)

Since I was 12 I collect Pfennige (later cents) that have been run over by trains. You tend to find them occasionally- it only counts if you find one, though, you can't put a coin on the tracks yourself and pick it up later.

Can I write a story about a rock having a sword trust into him? And people flocking around talking about some guy named Arthur?
Does that count as a "monument"?

Sad to see this fall through. Maybe we can find a couple of days this fall or winter to organise a meetup?
Ab-so-lootely possible!

It looks kinda like the game "Lemmings", only... there's something different....

Hey, this is exactly what I thought too (more or less)!

You're both correct. Lemmings are LEFT-HANDED. Ponch favours the other left.

I thereby infer that there is hope for the future of humanity yet.  :=

Nope. We're all going DOWN THE DRAIN!!111!

Although I do admit that I too would be disappointed with Ghost if - from now on - he doesn't sign his posts with Mawna Liza.

Actually, I don't even sign as "Ghost" (laugh)

Not tested, but you can call scripting commands from within dialog. Indent with (at least) two spaces, then enter a SayBackground command. Should work okay.

Player: A piiirate I was meant to be...
  cEnpeCe.SayBackground("Hah, says he!");
Player: ... all your base are belong to meeeee!
