Hey, I remember you! Welcome back!

You haven't missed much.
Lots of games were made, there was all sorts of tomfoolery and general ammasing of text.
There's a nice forum game running over at Comp/Act and you should check it out.
Vince grew a thrid arm to carry all his trophies.
Dualnames was in the army too! And he also came back recently! Did you shoot each other in the knee?
I was introduced to the Order of the Maggot. Apparently maggots aren't compulsory.
And you should really quickly buy a WII.

9gag is the worst place on the internet

And it must not be confused with 2gag (Two Guys and Guy), which is a neat little webcomic. A quick typo, I learned, can quickly lead you anywhere in the internets!

I think what matters more is: Who will be the LAST AGSer?

I see what you did there! (nod)

I see the potential problem. But I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. He comes from far away.

Well, sounds reasonable. Maybe we should ask him that once he's done with his task, he sends that help he hired back to us to provide us with information on the places he traveled to, as well as join our forces as heroes or scouts?
+1 on that. Sounds like a really good chance to learn more about the kingdom AND showing kindness. Plus, wizened warriors are good at staying alive. They have the practise of a lifetime. Maybe he can even teach someone a bit.

got turned into an action fight scene, and dragged on WAY too long.

Yeah well, that's the movies. I mean, did Legolas really surf on a shield firing arrows very sexily anywhere in the book? Did Harry dangle on that flying car when they stole it to fly to Hogwarts? Was there an explosion of candy in the original Chocolate Factory?
Sometimes it works. Sometimes, not so much. And sometimes they don't even notice. I'm looking at you, so-called-prequel-trilogy-of-Star-Wars-movies. See that? Red eyes, take warning!

If you put an equally interesting background behind this scene you will instantly win all kind of bizarro awards! :D

I suggest GIANT golden p3n1s awards. :=

To be honest, even the first movie felt odd- watered down and blown upat the same time; I am all for adaptional extensions but here I felt they just wanted to make yet another trilogy of awesomeness. I'll still watch them all, there's something about a beloved book being turned into lots and lots of images.

That first frame where the "bone erects" looks really out of place. I'd mimic the method they use for toy lightsabers- use a set of "hollow" cylinders and slide them out to make a blade. That should also allow you to fit all parts into the handle and hide the glow.

Behold awesome shematics done in MsPaint:

Does anyone have any tips, links to other games done in this style, tutorials etc... which could help?

Two games that come to mind are Albion, which had nicely done "RPG"-style graphics:

and the even more retro Amberstar.

I suggest you do a google image search. Both games make a point of having nicely looking and READABLE tiles, which I think is a must in a top-down game. I think they make nice references (nod)

Well, she never posted much and hasn't been active for many years, so it's no wonder. She did attend a few Mittens though.

Yes, that's probably it. But always nice to see the internet being a family tree. And Chester's easy to recommend too. (nod)

Funny. I sometimes read that. I know about that comic because a friend's friend's uncle mentioned it once to someone who knows me. And I had no idea Jess had a connection to AGS.

What the title says. There's some french artist who takes cartoon and pop culture characters and gives them the X-Ray treatment. And it's awesome on t least two levels (because, see, you get to see the original character and the x-ray; that makes two levels)

I'm normally hesitant to link to facebook pages but this really is the best thing I've seen on the internet in the last twenty minutes.

Pfew, that really reassures me. I thought I was the only one living under a rock without internet. (nod)
