This is not what the word "portable" here refers to though, if I understand your meaning.
#1282
It all depends on the rules set by the host. Just follow what the host has decided.

(Alright. It's time!)

***WINNER***
--------------------

We have some new owners of post lamps!

I am proud, to present you:
= Ponch for giving "his perve...great story" to us (4 votes)
= Calin Leafshade for doing "Horror at 3am" (2 votes)
= Domithanstraydogstrut and Francis de Mont for the entries of "The Library", "The Veil of Light" and "Take the Bait" respectively (1 vote each)

I want to thank you all for participating!

... and a special extra "Tank you" to my rescuer, for sending my posts, while I'm not able to:     Iceboty

It was a pleasure for me, that I was allowed to host this competition.

Well, if you are still without a lamp post, please take this one: ... as a little memory for writing a story about "... a light in the dark...".

And now it's time to pass the torch to Ponch, who is next coming up with a new theme.

Wish you all a very happy easter and

C U somewhere around in the forum - Tabata

Thank you very much again

You can use SetGameSpeed() to change the frame rate (provided the system is fast enough to handle it), but for normal use, it's an overkill for adventure games.
For 3-D games though, higher frame rate may mean smoother animation (provided the system is fast enough to handle it).
#1285
The comp has been extended (either way, I'll consider it closed just after the voting process started anyway, and thus all entries count), so I'll take your vote as for Calin.

Seems that not many people have voted atm, I'll wait a bit and see whether I should extend the voting period for 1 more day.
#1286
(Since Tabata is in Stealth mode ATM I'll take over the voting and announcement tasks for her.)

**VOTING**
------------------
Our writers did present wonderful stories to this competition, but who did the best job?
As you know, I'm not very good into English but I want it to be fair. There may be nuances, I don't recognize or simply don't understand the meaning of a phrase correctly.

Therefore I want everyone, who did read the stories:
Please give your voting for the winner-story!

For making decision, please think about:

Which one meets all requirements best and who was able to wake a feeling, matching the chosen interpretation of the theme?

I know, this is quite hard, because we have several veeery good entries. Myself won't be able to vote (no internet avaliable for me these days :-( ), but Iceboty was very kind to me and gave my post to you.

I hope you can agree to this process and participate in very active.

Let's give it 24 hours,

starting: NOW!

So, who wrote your favorite story?
#1287
This is actually sorta possible since long time ago (V2.2):

- Added datadir section to acsetup.cfg to allow data files to be loaded from alternate directory (eg. CD-ROM, etc).

I haven't really tried it but I think what you do is to put the game data files on the CD but the executable in your harddisk, with the config file properly set and stuff will be saved in the harddisk.

I wish it were about after the discovery of the long lost sunken ship it is eventually retrieved and refurbished with the most ground breaking technology, so that it is turned into a huge spaceship with a Hadou...Big Fashionable Cannon in front of it, in order to battle the coming space invaders. Furthermore, as the original ship was broken into two halves this powerful spaceship can also be separated into two halves during battles and has the ability to have modules of different purposes (such as extended robotic arms, or robotic legs, or caterpillar belts to make it a land ship, or huge chainsaw, or spy satellite, etc.) attached to its middle part.

...what?
#1289
Why? It's already 3rd April... (Even for you late people it must have been 2nd already.)
#1290
I think what he meant was just to display mathematical equations. The easiest method at the moment is to just type those equations with other software (such as TeX or the crappy equation editor of M$ Word) and capture them as sprites.

Great news! The audio in that video is quite choppy though. You may consider re-uploading it.

I was like: "Oooh! New Ben game! Yippeee!" - and only then did I notice it's not in the Completed Games forum.
Don't be sad, at least he's not posting this today. :=

Anyway, definitely a game that I am looking forward to playing.

I wouldn't imagine what would have fuelled the candle...

Anyway, herpi bargzedei to Dave, Ali and the reappearing strazer. :=

Just create the cutscene with another room number and change the starting room number of the player character to the one of the the cutscene.

Just build the game (F7) instead of running it directly in the editor. Run the setup in the Compiled folder to ensure the built game runs in fullscreen.

let's just grab pure plutonium with our bare hands, right?
Right, we will get super powers.
Provided we don't die.

Though it possibly hasn't reached the level of the Chernobyl yet, one problem is the contamination of water source. That and the electric company and the government hid the details of the conditions (and refused helps from other places earlier on) had much responsibility.

Seriously guys, if you consider starting a new life and moving to a whole new countryplane, now would be the right time.
Fixed. :=

Just take the fucking plane and put as much distance between you and Japan as you can (but don't go to Finland  ;))
To TEH M00n!1!!

More seriously though, if something catastrophic really happens there is probably no place to hide (people even said certain unstable isotopes of plutonium in the size of a cube of sugar can already wipe out all population on this planet), so don't worry, just be happy. :D

Actually since we're a bit close to Japan (than western countries at least), a lot of things are happening here in the recent weeks, from people panicking and buying loads of salt due to ignorance to having rumours about the condition being more severe than reported. We also have special news programmes about the incidents every night on every TV channel.
The meltdown thing is probably definite. All we can hope is the condition would be under control ASAP so that the damage would be minimal. Nearby water and land are already contaminated and it was confirmed yesterday that we already detected radiation in the air here a few days ago, though our government claims that the concentration is very, very low and wouldn't cause immediate troubles atm (but if the condition continues to worsen anything can happen).

Why do you people want to pretend to be me? Is it funny?  >:(

It is clearly Ouxxey's fault. I only assigned him to animate some naughty tentacles. How hard can that be? Even a baby can animate tentacles smoothly. Is he disabled or something?

Even when using photos you can get good results with skill and time.
This is a very good example, and yes, it's an AGS game.
