General Discussion / Re: Weird day

Tuomas - you were in IRC when I mentioned it?
I think you misread my post though, nothing has worked out yet, I'm just calm cause my intuition tells me to be. I've only seen her 3 times in my life, the first three days of the last week. And yet, from some observation and different sources I know a lot, hopefully it'll help me connect with her when she turns up. I really wish I had given her my phone number when I had the chance.

rharpe - I know what you mean, this happens a lot to me with a close friend of mine.
I just remembered, a week ago on Saturday I was going to call someone and then they called me :P.

General Discussion / Weird day

Just venting here a bit..

Do you ever have those days when stuff happens that is totally weird and leaves you feeling kind of unfocused? One of the weirdest things that tend to happen to me a lot is that I'm talking about a person or thinking about them and all of a sudden they turn up! It happened twice today, I guess part of the reason might be that I live in a small town but still.
Like today I was planning to go to a class two years below me to talk to someone I don't know very well, ask them something. As I'm pondering how exactly to say it so it sounds good, all of a sudden this girl I wanted to talk to walks by and says hi, so I just say what's on my mind.

Sorry if this post is a bit incomprehensible, as I said it's been a weird day. Anyone else had a weird day lately?

edit:
Actually, I feel like venting some more:
I'm working as a kind of teacher's assistant in afternoon classes for lower graders (I'm in 11th grade), and there's this girl in my group who I've been trying to connect with. She has some problems in her life, and she ran away from home a few days ago. I'm not too worried, people have seen her around. It's amazing how much I know about her though, considering that a week ago I wasn't aware of her existence. Strange how these things work..

Heh, nice to see all this interest :) Better get back in gear and work hard the next few months.

I'm back from Gadna! What's gadna? A week in the 11th grade we spend on an army base, pretending to be soldiers, and it's like pre boot camp. Had a lot of fun, cursed like I never cursed before, and got back tired as hell.

Here's me firing this baby (long M16):

I'm a female AGSer, so if you'd like to ask me some questions I'd be glad to answer.
Man, it's so cool that you get the opportunity to write an essay about the AGS community :).

*cough* questions *cough*
edit: ;)

That sounds cool. We have something called crystal (for fizzy drinks), spring (fruit drinks) and other stuff.

1. Question 1 and a half.
2. Maybe.
3. The meaning of life.
;)

Questions:

1. Have you heard the song "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls?
2. In your country, is the army mandatory?
3. What kind of sweets or sweet drinks do you have in your country, other than Coca Cola brands?

1. Three prisoners are put in a line. they all can only see the one(s) in front of them. There are 5 hats, 2 white, 3 black and each prisoner is given one. They must guess the colour to get free. Suppose that the first one who sees the two in front of him guesses wrong, and then the second that only sees the first one in line guesses wrong too. So how does the first one in line always guess right and what is the colour of his hat?

The actual solution: ;)
Spoiler
If the first person had seen 2 white hats, he'd guess his hat to be black, correctly. So, he must have seen either 2 black hats or one of each colour in front of him.
If the second person saw a white hat in front of him he would know that he has to have a black hat, and would guess correctly. Since he didn't, this means he saw a black hat, and so the last person, who doesnt see anyone's hat, knows that his hat it black and guesses correctly.

As long as it's not next week (I'm away all week on an army preparation camp thing) I'll try and enter. All depends on me getting an idea that works in one room.

The printed issue idea hasn't occured to me, but I like it.
Would there be no problem with overseas shipping and delivery? I'm quite sure I can afford the 5 bucks-a-year or whatever it costs, though I've never used my bank account over the internet yet, and not sure if I can. Anyway, I'll try and figure that out, as I've always wanted a "real" adventure magazine delivered to me :D.

Iris - Goo Goo Dolls. I just generally love this song, for a multitude of reasons.. It can remind me of other years, not just 2005, but 2005 was actually the year that I heard it again, after only hearing it once before, and not really paying attention, and this time it really hit the spot. It's not my favorite music style, but it fits in with the oh-so-perfect lyrics. I still know it by heart.

...
And all I can taste is this moment,
and all I can breathe is your life,
but sooner or later it's over,
I just don't want to miss you tonight.

And I don't want to world to see me,
cause I don't think that they'd understand,
when everything's made to be broken,
I just want you to know who I am.

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming,
or the moment of truth in your lies,
when everything feels like the movies,
Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive.
...

Been a while since I recalled it. Thanks for reminding me. :) It does get me a bit sad though, but that's why I love it.

edit: Why I love it? Well, it almost perfectly applies to - some things - in my life... The last 2 lines I wrote down (when everything feels like the movies, yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive) I like a lot, but they're not as accurate in describing how I feel as all the other great lines.
All I can taste is this moment... *melts*

Btw, anyone know any other songs (Goo Goo Dolls or other) that have a similar topic/idea?

I've just stayed up for 21 hours exactly. Met some folks from miami who are here on an organised trip thing. Fun :) And now, sleep!

Happy New Year!
I'm almost 4 hours into 2006. Last year was great.. :P
I wish I was as drunk as Ishmael.

I was supposed to go to a club, but my friend is ill and I hadn't exactly convinced my mom yet. So I'm staying home, eating tons of yummy food, and one or two friends will be coming over after midnight. :)

Heh, I'm neat now :D

Anyway, just to keep this on topic (not that I don't like arguing female superiority).. err, I have nothing new to announce really, just that we've found an artist, and expect the demo to be done somewhere around summer. It might be sooner, but I can't promise anything.
Back to playing games my research now.. ;)

The game is looking great, hillbilly. I really love your no outlines style.
Can't wait to play the game! ;)

Great to see this back in the works.. I seem to recall replying to a post, long long ago, about looking for writers for the AGDzine. I may be mistaken though..
In any case, I'd be glad to contribute with reviews or game *development* articles (I like the rant about game design;)), wether this is going to be a website or an issue-based zine.

Idea: Mordalles. Hey' I'm a sucker for things that remind me of grim fandango.

Design: Mordalles. The "waterfall" down the edge of the earth looks so powerful, like it could throw you into nothingness in just a second. Implies a lot of danger on that bridge, I like it.

Functionality: Big Brother. Clear exits, interesting scene, and 'd love to see this in a game.

Technique: Neil Dnuma. Your graphics remind me of CMI, very nice colourful atmosphere.

I think even with a very good game charging money, few people will play it, certainly not as many as would have played it if it was free. I, for one, had no bank account up until recently, and found it to be too much of a hassle to buy over the internet anyway. If there's a game I'm really looking forward to and I think it's worth the money, I'll probably go out of my way to buy it, but this is the case for only a few games. It's also nice to have a good game in a box and on cd, rather than just downloded from the internet. Kinda reminds me of an essay we had to write at school about replacing regular books with e-books, which I consider a bad idea.
As for Special Editions, I think they're a great idea. Having something extra on the game cd, or in the game box itself, is a wonderful bonus. :)
