Umm, I have a question :P. If a team asks help on the forums, such as in Critic's lounge or Technical forums, is that allowed or is that considered outside assistance (as mentioned in Andail's sticky post, no outside assistance). This is just for future reference :).

I'd say it makes sense to make it about mythical creatures, since they are still of the animal kingdom, even if they don't exist. Or do they? o_0 :P

Yes, obviously, I'm just thinking ahead a bit too much. It's just that I haven't seen BassFisherman on the forums lately, and being the storywriter, he is very needed. ;)

Glad this was extended by a week, as I'm also away some of the first week of august too :).
edit: Now only Bluke4X4 missing, hope we find him :)

Andail, just to ask again, how long should we wait for a team member to show up? We've had to start on story without Bass. :\

Vel/scotch/Andail: How long should a team wait to get in touch with a teammate?

Good luck Minimi! Heh, disciple training, for some reason I'm getting visions of the game Black and white in my head ;).
Sounds like you'll be travellling overboard, which can also be fun, hope you have a good time :).

Heh, check the main AGS website under 'Chat' to find out how to get there, it's basically a channel with chat and ags related stuff too, and you can create your own channel, which'll make it comfortable to contact your team for 3 several reasons:
1) You can have all your team in one place and discuss, brainstorm, etc.
2) You can send each other stuff like art, music, etc.
3) You can leave each other messages incase you miss each other online.
:P
I dunno, I just felt like making that list.

Gah, the only messanger I don't have is AOL IM :\
Have you got MSN messanger?
you could come on irc without joining #ags, just our own channel. What do you say?
And, I remember reading a post where you said you were 10, are you really? You don't act your age, but in a good way :).

We'd better move this to PM :P.

BassFishermans, Minimi, Bluke4x4, Daz, we should choose a captaina and a team name. Do you spend time on irc? :)

I disagree on the sidekick being overused, I mean, if you put it this way, it sounds bad, but just look at the great games that executed this so well: grim fandango, the longest journey, Syberia (Now that's one sidekick I hate). GF was relatively serious, though your game is probably more serious. But, i think adding a sidekick now just for comedy is a bad idea, so, how about some dark humor? sarcasm? or, simply everyday moments when the characters aren't so serious. :)

Woo, I can't wait! I just remembered i'll be away from august 1st to august 5th (half day), but I still might get access to a computer there to do some work, and I'll put in super effort before and after :). So, yeah, anyway, can't wait!

General Discussion / Re: Game with 3 charcter!

Didn't Goblins 2 have 2 giblins, and 3 have just one? I think the number of goblis got reduced each game. Anyway, the only game I can think of is DOTT. Try searching google for something like "adventure game 3 characters", you might find something.

edit: In fact, I came upon a game called Nippon Safes, Inc. which seems to have 3 controlled characters. The things you can dig up with google. :P

edit: Oh, so you mean a game where you play one character and two others follow you,or did I misunderstand?

Gotta love Eggie's entry! It's so long and detailed :D. he's got my vote. :)

If it's not too much trouble, I'd like to switch to Coding, Story, instead of Story, Coding. Change the order that is. I've edited my first post, just thought I'd mention it here just in case. I feel an urge to program! :D

edit: Tank-you ;)

eYeah, in combination with the GUI rule, the animal rule opens up lots of possibilities for original gameplay. I'm gonna have a little brainstorm and get back to you, but I'm probably entering (or at least trying to). :)

edit: Well, not sure I'll enter per se, most likely I'll think of an idea and make it sometime in the future.. heh. Too many projects at the moment.

That would make less teams and thus less musicians required, and so far there aren't many musicians, so I second Evil's idea. Anyway, there's still time, looks like the challenge is succeeding in number of contestants :).

Ginny - edit: Story, Coding.
Like I said, more in a coding aura lately :), so Coding, Story.

Yay, I can't wait for this to start! The theme sounds.. mysterious.. ;)

Congratulations rtf! Hope to see interesting rules next month :). And it was quite a funny game to play.

Maybe he inherited the company. :)

Love the sketches gal, eager to see the pixel version too :D.

But isn't making up a story from certain rules more challenging, and yet something that gets the creative juices flowing? I can see how a theme might be too much, but what about a few elements that need to be included in the games? Still, it doesn't really matter either way, making up a story from scratch is just as good.
I agree about the game length, though of course, a game shouldn't be disqualified if it's a bit too short. 4-6 weeks, or a month is the ideal time In my opinion.

Btw, I forgot to mention another thing about the teams, sometimes the whole team will want to write the story together, not just one person. I guess that had better be decided in each team seperately.
