Gah, secondhand smoke is horrible.. *reminds myself to stay back when my mom is smoking*. But actually, i've been pretty careful in that aspect, and i too have a weaker immune system than most. I have light astma and I'm alergic to dust, and living in dusty Israel doesn't help :P I have a cold all year (except when normal people have colds. That's when I feel great and don't sneeze even once). I've had bronhitis due to my allergy several times, and overall I think I might be a little low on vitamins (except, ironically, for Vitamin C, which I think I have an overdose of :P. I love the stuff :D).

Ah, this is fun.

*Gets some Vitamin C*
Heh, actually, I have periods when I don't take any VC (if we're out) and periods when I take a lot.

Lol, Minime, that kinda make sense. He could also pretend to be grass and be poisonous and then they will eat him...

Err, maybe not ;)
Good camoflage(sp?) though :)

If for example, I want a certain option on the main menu (a hotspot) to be activated when the player finishes the game (like the Extra's in TLJ), and I also want the game to remember the player has finished the game even after he has quit. I could of course try making the game auto-svae, but I don't want to have an extra save game in the list. Also, how do I autosave? Presumably the save game listbox shows only 20 slots, right? So do I save to slot 47 for example? Still, I'm not sure this is the best solution, or if it'll work at all.

All help is very much appreciated :)

Whoa, spray tool only? that's awesome, and a very unique technique IMO. When I look closely I can sometimes recognise the spray tool being used, but only when look for it of course ;) Creating such a smooth look with the spray tool really requires skill! I still think a tutorial on this technique would be interesting. Not to mention that the composition and colors you used are great too :)

Heh, welcome to the forums, you sound very mature for your age (heaps more mature than some people I know in real life :P), good luck with your game :)

P.s. I think this thread belongs in the General forum, though you did mention working on a game... What'll the game be about, other than dwarfs of course ;)

Heh, me too. Now I just want every good adventure game ever made :)

You're welcome ;)

Actually, it's the capital letters problem, you named them BX and linked to bX :)

I was wondering, how did you draw these? Did you draw them by hand on paper or using a program? They look very artisitic :)

Harry Potter is two AGSers apparntely.. Nah, just kidding ;)

That's a great drwing evil! drawing on paper is virtually impossible for me, whereas your drawing is very detailed and life-like, apart from what was mentioned about the pupils and he circles around the eyes (then again, these circles would be a great representation of myself with the sleepy look I often have ;)).

Heh, Farlander, I was just gonna say that! I could almost not see green tentacle there in the grass, but it's still hilarious. I'm a sucker for dinosaurs ;)

I couldn't see them either, you linked to b1, but the files are B1 B2 and B3.

Anyway, those are some great images, very stylish and cartoony. Good work, these'd look great as a game. I reccomend you try out AGS, the programming is much easier than "real" programming IMO, and there is always the community to help :) Looking at the graphics convinces me that the story you thought of for the game was also great. Please make a game!

Or write a tutorial at least ;)

Omg you don't realise how much you've improved my mood Yufster! I'm still laughing! :D

Anyway, yeah, use anonimizer Dan. Nice avatar ;)

*must rewatch Sounds of Music when the DVD gets back from repairs*

AGS Games in Production / Re:Project Japan

Welcome WeHoo! Souns like a great story you got there! I sure wish we had something like this in our school, all we'll have in computers this year (next semester only) is HTML, which I studied by myself long ago. Oh well, I'll use the time for game making then :)
What subject was the project given in? or is it a general thing? Hmm, I wonder if I'll have anything like that in computers when I'm 18 (4 years until then :P). I presume you're in your 12th grade, right?

Anyway, this looks promising, the graphivs are smooth and the whole design method sounds very proffessional :)

I was wondering, when you say Lead Designer, are you reffering to art? And what does the Lead Director do?

Heh, yeah. DVD boxes smell a little like glue or markers that have an addicting smell, but cardboard boxes are better :)

I dream that one day I will buy a heap of games at once and play them through slowly :D The situation you describe does happen to me with amateur games sometimes, mostly because they're free, so if I download several at once, I don't play them all right away. I sometimes don't even play one, if I'm busy doing something else at that moment, which often happens when downloading games.

As for manuals thpugh, I love reading them over and over, the thicker the manual the better. I always read them before I even install the game, not because I think I can't play or install it without the manual, I just do. That's why I love the Sims' manual and even more those of Paraoh and Zeus. Black and White has pretty nice length manuals too ;). I even read the manual to KQ VGA before playing!

This sunject has reminded me of something else I was wondering: Do you collect games? Do you have multiple copies of a game? etc. Personally I want to someday have a huge collection of games, and I will rebuy GF as soon as I can aswell, cause I lost the box and the manual (which were in hebrew anyway, bah).

Highjack not intented ;)

I don't think anything is wrong with you, I envy you.
I wish I had piles of games still pacakaged, ready to be opened for the first time. Ahh...

well, that does it, I've made up my mind: i just won't open TLJ2, Syberia 2, Discworld Noir right away whern I buy them. Oh ok, maybe that's impossible. Unless I buy several games at once, like the BS series I need to get :P

Yufster: Sniffing sounds fun :D *tries it* yep, smeels great!

Thanks Nostradamus, though like I said, I solved it myself :)

Grundislav: I noticed (if I'm not mistaken) that you referenced the book "Not without my daughter", which I haven't read yet, but it's on a list we were given from school, of books to do reports on. For some reason I was convinced that it was written in hebrew, but I guess I was wrong.. :P Anyway, is it good? I need to choose a book for the next report. Great referncing too ;)

edit: Hmm, I think I might've found a bug, though maybe not:

Spoiler
Is it possible to talk to Mr. Lopez again? I can't talk to him and since I quit the game right at that point, I don't rememeber the recipe for the ghost-reppelant. :P ::) edit: Oh wait, I remembered, and finished the game :) Great game, now on to the next one ;)

Quote from: GarageGothic on Tue 07/10/2003 08:50:19I find it much easier to identify with females than with most male characters - and if I have a choice between a male and female player character, I ALWAYS choose the female. HOWEVER, I often find male characters more INTERESTING than female, and I think this is where we are missing the point.

I agree completely, and I also think that is why I honestly connect more with male characters (being female of course ;)). I connected to Manny and Guybrush much more than April, not to mention Kate. I agree that making these females more flawed and not neccessarilly emotional (i.e. turning a male personality into female without changing it, for example) would make them much more interesting and easy to connect to for females as well as males.

I love the game, Grundislav! I'm enjoying it immensly, though I'll have to fix my problem with music, great work!

I'm stuck though:
Spoiler
How can I find out the sailor's vow? I have a crew and have done everything else I need to prove my sailorness :D

I prefer a vague hint if possible ;)

edit: Actually, never mind, I solved the problem less than a minute after posting :P Really fun game, Grundisav :)

I agree that if it were a bit lighter it would be easier to examine. However, I think that the embossed lines give the image a unique style which, though wouldn't work very well for a game maybe, looks very interesting as an image. If you were to emboss all the lines in the image instead of just some of them, the style would look more consistent IMO.

Other than that, I think the choice of colors really gives it a specific mood, well done :)

(yes, my keyboard works!)

Competitions & Activities / Re:OCTOBER MAGS
Thu 02/10/2003 13:40:07
Heh, well, last night my mind flowed (as it often does at night) and I am entering the contest. I'll try to restrict myself to a not too long game or I'll never finish it. I fI do decide to make it longer I'll release it seperately. Anyway, just to get somthing clear:

I need to use one or more of the themes (time travel, horror, etc) in the game, or I need to have at least one element of each? I assume the former, so I've chosen time travel and horror (I hope I'll manage to make the game seem horrible :P). I need to choose a forum member and make upi items. I've also set it in 2003 because it works for me.

Good luck everyone!
