I'm considering entering, but It'll be tough to think of a story. Good thing I noticed this right now and not too late. ;)

Let's see, 3 original items, a forums member, year 2003 (doesn't really bother me so I'll stick to it), and a theme of my choice. I have a feeling time travel will win my heart :D
Yeah pretty nice rules, 25th is also a great date for me cause we have 9 days holiday which ends on the 26th exactly :)

PS: Nice first draft! I really like the clothes/posture.

Omg :o

I have one request: Write a tutorial! That's an awesomely cartoonish style that I would love to be able to acheive.
How do you do the anti aliasing so smoothly? Are you using flash? If so, how do you import anti aliased chars or backgrounds without it looking messed up? Sorry for all the questions ;)

Scavenger, that is great! I love huskies ;)

Great job on the fur, it looks perfect for an adventure game character.

There, I knew someone knew of a simpler solution ;) Thanks SSH.

Hmm, you could try editing the characters character[CHARID].x and character[CHARID].y global variables (only when the character isn't moving.) I think you can only set them in the room the NPC will be in. You could try this:

1. Create a global variable and set it as 0.
2. When you want to move the NPC to the other room, Use character[NPCID].room and then set the global variable to 1. Then in the room where the NPC appears, on "Player enters screen (before fade-in)" put an if statement to check if the global variable is 1, and if it is, set the NPC's coordinates appropriately.

I hope this helps :).

Of course, maybe I'm wrong and there's an easier way to do this ;)

:o Wow, that is stunning! Her expression reminds me of Kirstin Dunst for some reason. Amazing! The other image you (which Esseb linked to) is also stunning. Not to mention your work on Rise of the hidden Sun.

Whew, finished... There might be some bugs, but never mind. Sorry for the delay, I couldn't get the creature right(and resolved in the end to not drawing it at all :P).

So here it is:

What can I say, except AWESOME!

As for what's wrong with the animation, I think it looks odd that his legs go sideways as if he's zig-zagging instead of walking straight. I also think his legs should bend a bit more.

Great work!

Minime: Is the talking color I used ok? It took me a while to pick one, since the default one was hard to read.

It seems like it's going to be a sweet nice game. Just my style! I loved the joke about something 2875... long before my time :P
though.. i must say.. that in more than 1000 years.. they houses haven't changed much :P

Heh, well, in the full game there's an explenation for this actually, because it's somewhat connected to the main character's choice of proffession.
Did you try using the house, btw?

Anyway, glad you like the style, though when it comes to graphics the only things I like are the GUI and the main character's front and back (I had no idea side views were so difficult :P). I enjoyed scripting a lot :D

Ok, I finished a bare-bones intro, it's here:

Dragonscale: The Encounter (non encounter really :P)

The following 3 days are a holiday, so I'll have more free time to work.

Actually I think it's perfectly fine if someone improves or fixes their game some more until the 23rd. ;)

Good night :)

*Ginny bows to Magintz, the benevolant god of MAGS...

I will release a sort of one-room intro which ends in To Be Continued, and then work on the rest of it right away :)

I just need to finish up a few little things and I'll release it today... It'll be a demo so it might not actually count (all those school trips this week were exhausting, so I didn't get to work on it much) but I'll release it anyway... Just a little longer...
#636
Heh, lol.. I'm just really drawn to non-linearity stuff, and never really liked pixel hunts, but they would be justified of course. ;)

I like your entry SSH (I've seen it before somewhere.. you posted it in the thread where minime suggested the competition, right?).

I planned to enter this contest but had no good ideas, so here are my votes (btw the site is having problems) :

#1 - Alkaline
#2 - Dragonrose
#3 - Dave Gilbert

Don't forget to update the points status in the site when you can Minime. Which reminds me, I should be working on my MAGS game!

Actually, I was wondering about the date too, because

Quote from: Hobbes on Wed 10/09/2003 15:50:05As we're only on the 10th day of September (hah, 20 days left)

which would imply the 30th, so thanks for clarifying :)

GAh, damn school is taking up all my time, but I'm determined to do a lot of work suring the weekend. I'll post a screen then aswell :)

Aww, I didn't get a chance to save them (I ussually like to save really good artwork to look at it in the future, or to study the style as an example to acheive ;)). May I reccomend www.freewebs.com for hosting images, these and future ones :) I would love to see more of your art.

There is no way that hat was Ron Gilbert. It just doesn't strike me logical. I've never heard what kind of person he is, but it all sounds like a joke.

However... Nah, you never know.
