I would have voted for 12, but i have just this week seen the exact same story in an episode of the Simpsons...
'Simpsons did it! Simpsons did it!'

(laugh)

Seriously though, the idea of a clone visiting the funeral of his predecessor is a very enthralling idea for a narrative, which could
take many different turns.

Great stuff.

For cartoons i always find using primitives as a skeleton the way to go, it helps with proportion
and to get the right pose before the heavier work begins, so to speak.

Keep on keeping on. :)

I really think you should have another go jwalt as you were the deserving winner last time.

It's just a 2x2px checkerboard saved as a pattern in photoshop.
Then overlay the image and use opacity to vary the blend.

I use Cinema 4d but not the latest version.
#26
Nope. I cheated, used a pattern overlay.

That would have taken hours lol 8-0

Edit: BTW i don't want to win by default. But jwalt can you take this request?

Pick a simpler topic next time.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with  :)

Small Talk & awkward situation simulator '98

Have you ever been caught in an awkward social situation where you wish you had more to say? ST&ASS'98
Could be the answer to your fretting.
Small talk simulator is a classic game from the good folks at Reach around software.
You play Neil postman, who after getting engaged to his girlfriend princess scratch-n-sniff, must travel back to her hometown to meet
everyone she has ever known.
I Chose to review the game using the hardest 'total recluse' setting as i have played the game before and required more of a challenge from
the 'chatterbox' and ultra easy 'Gobsh*te' modes.

As i begin the first level nostalgia floods back as Neil finds himself left alone with the Father-in-law, a later boss but for now warm up to the harder levels.

Great conversation starters such as favourite sports team and Employment give way to the harder 'so...this car's nice, it has nice seats...are these
cat skin seats? And the game begins to look like it's taking a very large learning curve until the princess and her mother return to the car they left
the two of you in.

The proceeding levels, 'meeting grandma', 'teenage brother sex talk' and ' what is this down the toilet?' really turn up the heat and require social skill levels of unprecedented levels for most hardcore gamers.

A few times i had to refer to soap operas for technique and topic but once i found my top gear i was away.

Next up came a very difficult level named ' why did you french kiss the dog?
This is where the gentle build up of small talk swung abruptly towards a more awkward social situation.
The whole level is a minefield of wrong responses that lead both towards the Asylum and Jail endings.

Persevering through these difficult levels i reached the finale. The 'Engagement party' level is by far one of the hardest gaming experiences
ever. ' Why did you punch my disabled cousin?' and 'oh my god, is it supposed to look like that?' must be dealt with in the deafening silence of a
Ruined party. Staring faces and the hostility meter making this a very difficult task.

Pass all the horrifically skin crawling situations and you are rewarded with the FMV of the wedding night, fail and your details are published by the developer in your local newspaper.

The graphics of the characters are incredible, with unparalleled levels of disdain in the eyes.
The gameplay is challenging and there is definite replay value.
The sound is good, the tuts and gasps are spot on.
overall Small Talk & awkward situation simulator '98 is the greatest game ever made  98%

Tiz a very nice background. :-D
On the subject of Artrage it's definitely my best under-used program.

Concept: Soxbrooker(The lava is the greatest obstacle)
Artistic Execution: Monsieur OUXX( I like the colours, those deep reds to oranges)
Playability: ThreeOhFour( would be a fun place to explore)

Great minds think alike :)

Great entries everybody!

Wow! This looks Epic in every sense of the word.

Loving the Vivaldi in the trailer aswell.

Good luck with it. :)
#34
Do you mean bpm?

I would have thought a lower BPM value would maybe add to an epic theme.

I still think it's great but there is a big problem, one which will cast doubt into your mind.
It's the moon. Didn't really wanna point that out with it being a focal point of the shot.
The position you have the moon and it's size are disproportionate to the shadows being cast down onto
the hill. Think of the moon as a torch in a dark room. Any edge that the light hits will cast the darkness in
line. so looking at your left most house edge it ideally needs to move to the left more, or an easier
solution would be to reposition the moon. As i said, with it being the focal point it may not work to move it
and really it's a nice piece so if you can live with it, i'm sure many players will not even notice.

Good work and good luck with the game!

Hey.

I'm liking the half and half cartoon/realism look.
It's a tricky thing to do. :)

I like the composition, maybe a pond or tree could be added on the left
but the sparsity really adds to the house's lonesomeness.

If there's one thing i'm unsure of, it's the positioning of the shadows relative
to the moon. The shadows would also curve down the hill.

Anyway very nice piece. :)

I agree with scavenger.
The light from the windows needs defining more.

Still though with that character and those backgrounds the style will
get very close to BS5. Great work! YAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa  a a!

This is beautiful box art.

Plus it's bringing back memories, especially the driving mini-game.

I like your model.

Are you going with 3D Backgrounds? or 2D (like BS5)?
