Andail: that's because you look with your eyes, not heart, you damn darwinist.

Relaxed hips are the synonime of Collossaliness.

Goldmund! Hi!
I have no idea who you are! :D

I'm your nightmare.

The one about Mr Fluffy in the land of Pink Ponies.

You are all LOSERS I bet you have J.O.B.s (Jerk On Board!11)!

Just because there will be "eternally broke" written on your tombstones, don't try to steal our dreams!

GO DIAMOND!

Hello, Rhubarb!

The last I saw it, it was resting on a bench beside the grave of Dave Jones. Which reminds me - poor Davey... il est morte... so much morte...

Salute.  :=

Right. I've decided to put a quick update since today I started to see the light at the end of the dreary tunnel that making of Donna:Avenger of Blood was during last two years.

There are 116 rooms (most animated! kabazz shazzdrum!) now and I have everything planned up to the very end. I have to make yet 8 locations, which translates to around 25 rooms.

Of course, the only reason why I was able to make this much is that I rush through the game, making only room graphics, puzzles and key conversations; when I have everything ready, I will sit down to filling them with peripheral hotspots, conversations, character animations, sounds and other glitter. A plot re-vamp is also in order, as most of the time I was improvising.
The dimensions of this game made me feel that I need to know if I'm going to finish it, so having this basic skeleton ready will give me much comfort. I advocate this technique to anyone who aims at making a long game.

I still trust that I'm able to finish it before this year's end, if nothing comes in the way (job, anyone?). I still have to write my MA thesis (second in my life... nobody really knows why I'm doing the second faculty - it's one of life's mysteries...)

Also - if I knew how long it was going to make, I don't know if I'd go for it. But hey, isn't it the case with most big projects.

Now I thought about it some more, I think it would be very nice to allow yet another setting to game_swap_portraits: the one that takes note of the talking characters "x" position and positioning the portraits according to this.
As it is now, it depends on who starts talking first and it looks a bit awkward when a character standing on the left has their portrait displayed on the right and vice versa.

Ha ha, you piratey coquette!
You did the best one yet "I do not want to win!"

Still, I'm afraid that Joker would only smirk at the letters and keep poisoning like hell. Because he feels contempt for bad ortography.

I'm very happy for the continuation of the Tulle saga, yet...

Something in the first screenshot caught my attention. You aren't going to use distorted shapes (the tower!11!) to make the game funnier, by any chance? YOU AESTHETIC TRAITOR!

Also, I'm sad for Sibila's demise. I liked the demo more than Tulle World's... but maybe Andail decided to postpone it since I never told him how I feel about it... and others also were too greedy of praise... and maybe this is why people live, like they dream - alone....

Funny, I read somewhere that Goldmund was supposed to be wittier this time.

Ha ha! But this is only a clever decoy, so that I will catch you off guard with the sudden outburst of my wittiness even better... First I've got to prepare ground, naive Andail!

And remember:

Somebody tell me I haven't done this... how low can one fall?

Beautiful! I'm looking forward to this. Thanks!

Sorry, Dahlgren, all I see is Robert de Niro.

I believe that the Jackass show is quite a good attempt at pointing to the masses a possible solution to the problem of overpopulation.

As I hate crowd in public swimming pools (much like Ortega y Gaset, who wrote a whole book because he couldn't find an unoccupied place on a beach), it works for my benefit in a way.

Watching AGS characters doing Jackass might be some good entertainment - I'd certainly take a look at Jake McUrk lightning his farts or Pib riding bareassed on a saw. Maybe we should make it a new competition monthly kind of thingy?

The most interesting thing is that Terran, as opposed to the weeping ones who give him their condolences, seems calm, almost joyous and in relief that his game went to hell.

Can it be that our games are daemons that suck on our minds and hearts?

"The... horror! The horror!" - as Kurtz used to say.

Puma:
1. Yes, that would solve the problem completely! If I can express my opinion, I don't think it's necessary to make two separate commands for display left and display right, just some setting that the designer could change during the game at his/her fancy.

2. Hehe, well, it's still tons easier than making a game in c64 basic :)

thanks!

GTD is short for Game Theory Discussion, a rather short-lived but fruitful idea of BionicBill.
Most of them are rather descriptive than prescriptive, but I think that in some we went into territories of design theory uncovered before.

We also had a really nice thread about theory of puzzle design, yet I cannot find it. Anyone to the rescue?

Oh, then apologies are due, the way you presented him made me think that these are "some words of truth from a professional-who-knows-how-to-do-it." :)
Sorry.
Still, have you read the GTD topics? I believe that they deserve some wider exposure.
#380
I'm not really impressed, it was rather basic.

I don't know who is the guy who wrote this article, but I'm of an opinion that we wrote more insightful and in-depth articles in the GTD topics and elsewhere....
