Carnival of Shadows: https://goosekult.itch.io/carnival-of-shadows

Can be downloaded or played in browser (Though it seems kinda laggy).

Story:

A group of four unlikely companions arrive at an abandoned amusement park, drawn by the promise of a unique experience. They quickly discover that the park is haunted by the restless spirits of those who perished in a tragic accident. To escape, they must solve puzzles, confront supernatural threats, and uncover the park's dark history before they too become part of the shadows.

I have a lot to learn about making games but hopefully someone will get some enjoyment from it! I had a laugh making it! Thanks for having me.

I played through it for a bit, but got stuck after installing the first fuse. (this is a me problem, not a game problem I think)
I did have some difficulty hitting the hotspots for screen transitions and had to "wiggle" around the edges to move to the next area sometimes.
I really like the Maniac Mansion/DOTT idea of using your friends for things and how easy it was to acquire/leave them behind.
Sounds are great, animations are good and, though I'm taking a break due to the above stuck-ness, I will be coming back to finish the game because I do want to see how it ends!

Great work! Highly recommended for people who are better at playing Adventure Games than I am!

Thanks for playing! I'm terrible at trying to explain what to do subtly and my puzzle making skills aren't great so if you are stuck it is definitely my fault!

Quote from: 4KbShort on Mon 24/06/2024 20:17:55Hi guys!

I needed to take a break from making my game so... I... made... a... game...

I wasn't super into this theme at first, but I kept coming back to the thread to check on how everything was going and then one night BOOM; idea!

Couple of things: This could have turned into an actual long game, but my ADHD coupled with my need to get back to "paying" projects made me cut it short. If anyone is interested in this becoming something larger let me know? I can't sell it because copyright... (you'll see), but I could expand it over time I suppose?

Also; I was having trouble finding modern solutions to some of my issues. Most Google-pointed forum posts are no newer than 2012 so a lot of the example code is deprecated. So I've included the source code with this download. It's under the "SOURCE" directory and if you need to know how to make a simple cutscene, change dialogue, how I make things move or do object/inventory checks and interactions it's all there for you to see and use if you need. I hope this helps!

So here is my completed entry for this MAGS:

THE ZOO!

Download: THE ZOO on Itch.io

I am enjoying this! I'm just past the first main hurdle and it's pretty well thought out and tightly made. The setting is pretty cool too, though I've never watched much of The Twilight Zone, it reminds me of 'The Prisoner' series from the 60's. Nice work!

Yes I have too much free time at the moment and I don't like being alone with my thoughts so I just keep working! Though the screenshots might make it look like there's more to it. It's probably a five minute-ish game.

Lil update.

Pretty much finished just needs some polishing, granted I don't find any game breaking bugs in the meantime.

I hope I get this finished in time... Will be my first MAGS entry!

I don't have too much to show for now but hopefully I'll make the crunch lol.

Hello Adventurers, today I bring you another silly lil' game:

Echoes in the Static:

A short horror, point n' click game that takes you to a spooky old house in the countryside where things get a bit weird. Solve puzzles, dig up secrets, and try to outsmart the mysterious thing that's got you stuck there before it's too late!

Inspired by horror flash games of yore such as The House, Ex-Mortis, etc.

**Contains mild flashing lights.
**Horror themes/imagery/mild scares.
**Approx 3-5 mins playtime.
**Just a lil silly game.

Available on itch.io(Free) :  https://goosekult.itch.io/echoes-in-the-static

I hope my next release is more substantial, but until then please give my game a go if you're into horror and have 5 minutes to spare!

Thanks for having me, "Goodbye, and good luck."

Hi!

Echoes in the Static is a free, short, first-person, horror adventure game that I've been working on recently. I'm working on a larger AGS game at the moment and this was a nice break.

It can be completed in probably less than 5 minutes and is an escape room of sorts I guess.

Inspired by old horror flash games I played when I was younger like exmortis etc.

Something spooky is stopping you from leaving the house and with the help of an old PC, a strange radio and the crazy rambles of your missing uncle you have to figure out how to get around it and home safe...

Should be up at https://goosekult.itch.io/ soon!

Quote from: GooseKult on Tue 21/05/2024 15:06:35I may have figured it out, the mouse sprites get removed when you change the resolution of the game?

No, that should not happen, and I cannot recall anyone reporting a similar thing.

In regards to mouse cursor becoming invisible, something that comes to mind: if you are using "walkto" cursor mode, and set room's ShowPlayerCharacter to false, then "walkto" mode is disabled and mouse switched to the next found cursor, which may be missing a sprite. This problem was found in BASS template, for example.

That makes more sense, thanks for the reply.

Hello fellow forum frolickers

I am having a bit of bother here:

I am making a first person AGS game, but when I change the players visibility to false, the mouse is also now invisible... I don't recall having this problem before and the only difference I can think of is that I am using 1920 x 1080 resolution as opposed to 320 x 200. I have looked for a solution on the forums but I may have missed it. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this I would be grateful.

Thanks

edit: I may have figured it out, the mouse sprites get removed when you change the resolution of the game? I re-added them back and it seems to be working now.

Quote from: MIGGO on Fri 26/01/2024 20:17:48I had good time with this game!  :)
Nice touch with the animals roaming around, it really gave the forest some liveliness.
Also there are good comedy moments and horror moments, which is a rare mix, at least I think so.
At times the art was very impressive.

Thanks for playing ! I look forward to Melon Head!

Looks good - but the link leads to an error with the request, not possible to download it, also not from https://goosekult.itch.io Clicking on the link shows again an error.

Naa, a general problem with itch.io on all pages.

Itch.io is currently offline! EDIT : seems to be back now.

Quote from: heltenjon on Sun 07/01/2024 19:35:37Congratulations on your release! It looks good, and I'll add it to my backlog of games to try out (just be patient, the feedback will come).

Please also add the game to our main database: https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/add/
(No new upload, you simply link to your itch page.) That will make the game a lot more visible on this site.

I tried, it keeps saying I need a youtube link?

Edit: The game has been added, hopefully I've done it right...

https://goosekult.itch.io/midnight-madness-at-moon-forest

"Midnight Madness at Moon Forest" is a short adventure game with horror themes.

Just a small game to learn the basics. Not much going for it if you are an adventure game veteran. I didn't put much thought into the story or puzzles etc. I just wanted to see if I could finish a small project before biting off too much. I still put care into it and would appreciate it if people had a look  though :).

Embark on a thrilling adventure with Tom and his loyal companion, Cook, as they find themselves marooned in the mysterious Moon Forest following a car crash. In their quest for assistance, they stumble upon a group of campers grappling with their own problems. Together, Tom, Cook, and the campers unite to navigate the forest and unravel the dark secrets that lie hidden within. Join the journey and see if you can make it back alive...

Made with Adventure Game studio 3.6.0.

"Midnight Madness at Moon Forest" is a short adventure game about a fairly normal guy, Tom and his dog, Cook, who end up stranded in Moon Forest after a car accident. In search for help, the pair venture into the forest where they meet a group of campers facing their own problems. Tom, Cook and the campers join forces to explore the forest, help each other out, and uncover dark secrets along the way.

Will be releasing soon Hopefully!

Quote from: Matti on Wed 13/12/2023 11:57:06It could help others if you elaborate on what the problem/solution was.

Yes my bad, the problem was silly so i didn't think to go into detail. When running the game (f5, not compiled build) I didn't realise that the game was still saving a agssave file to /user/SavedGames when i hit the checkpoint ( I assumed the save file would be temporary)and loading this save file seemed to break the mouse functionality. Deleting the old saves fixed the problem. I've been using AGS for about 3 weeks so I apologise if I have described something wrong etc.

Hello, I'm almost done making a little game, been lurking here for help but can't find any info on what i'm experiencing (sorry if I missed it in the manual etc).

I have a checkpoint set up before a chase scene, by using SaveGameSlot(1, "Checkpoint");

but when this checkpoint is activated, the mouse loses functionality. You can no longer interact or look (using BASS template), and the mouse is useless, but visible. Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong? I haven't messed with the global script too much, this is my first attempt at using AGS so I tried to keep it simple.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: I think i see what the problem is now, feel free to delete.
