What is atmospheric perspective?
I was thinking of just copying and pasting the lines that I used to make the door to make everything else, I don't know if that would work or not, but oh well.
Anyway, I was also thinking I could just leave it this way and make it into a joke. When Hailey first comes in the room, she could say, "Hmm. This is just what I imagined Kyle's room to look like."
"The point of view is all wrong. Just like Kyle'a point of view."

This was a sketch, that I acctually was going to delete, but I decided I might as well try anyway.
So, it did start as a sketch.
I think the size is fine-right now I'm using the MI GUI.
That's what my mom said to do, with the points... but the way she was explaining it was like trying to learn how to clone a frog.
Helm-are you being sarcastic? Because if not... this background is... well, horrible. xD
The perspective dot thing confuses me. I'm gonna try a different technique...

Oh, but what a mess! Look at the bed, the bed isn't even made! And the walls... such an ugly grey color! This whole room is a mess! Somebody has to clean it up right this moment! Heh, j/k
But really... The carpet is very detailed, where as the walls are just a solid color. Same goes with the bed... there's no blanket on it, either. And, one side has a black outline where the other doesn't. (Wow. I'm desperate, I'm criticizing my OWN artwork)
I better go back and do an hour-long redraw.

WOAH!
I was just reading this thread (since I'm posting my own BG for criticism), and saw the finished BG... I didn't even notice it was a real picture of rocks! That's pretty good.
Well, anyway, I just wanted to say that, don't really know why but it's better than mine. Only thing I did notice was the fence-I'd work on that fence more.
Well, that's just an opinion from a 13-year-old who knows nothing about backgrounds or art. Since most of your players are going to be kind of like me anyway...
Anyway, good job, bye.

Critics' Lounge / Background of a Bedroom...
Thu 26/01/2006 07:20:10
Ok, so this is the first background I've drawn. My mom says that perspective is wrong, but I can't really see it. Keep in mind that I've painted this whole thing in Paint. (I've tried other programs, but I've been using Paint for years and the others seem really complicated to me-besides the fact that they're free demos and probably aren't the best)
You are VERY welcome to edit, redraw, paint over, whatever you call it, the picture.

Now to give you a short little tour of the room...
This is a teenage boy's room. The room is for a game about a boy who dumps his girlfriend, and the next morning they switch places. The rest of the game is about his girlfriend who then ruins his life.
So, there's supposed to be a lot of stuff in here-a guitar, a computer, a fishbowl, a bag of MnM's and maybe some other stuff.
Another problem is that I was planning to make the characters small, like in Monkey Island 1. In one of the scenes, I have to make it like that, because I drew a wolf that is no bigger than an inch long. So what do I do in this case? Shrinking it distorts it sometimes, and then I'd have a lot of black around the background...

It would've looked pretty bad even without the large red eyes and the weird limbs... (I know it's a pretty bad picture, you can delete this and let somebody else draw the next one if you want)
Next I think a picture of a blatant hypocrite would be pretty good.

Well-I could do that, but I only have this free demo version of an animator that makes a big "DEMO" thing come up on the picture.

But, I did put the pictures on my first post. ^

Well, just judge the pictures for now then, lol.

Yeah, but isn't there a way to post the whole character on the board? I thought there was.

Critics' Lounge / Dog Character

I made a new character, a dog, and I wanted some opinions about it. It looks kinda funny when it runs right, but sometimes it looks okay when it's running left. I drew the dog (almost all by) myself, and I wanted an opinion about that too. I drew a sketch of it, and colored it, but then I copied and pasted part of another picture to make it look furry (don't worry, I got permission). Um-how do I post the character to the thread?
Oh-I also wanted opinions about the seven-leaf clover and the fox. Thanks.
[img](I know the clover isn't very good)

Okay, well just forget the clover alltogether xD

Well...
Seeing as the people who make these games must spend years making them, they can make whatever kind of games they want.
#272
Okay, I have the fire extinguisher, and the petrol-soaked string, but now what? I can't figure out what to do. I want a hint, not a walkthrough.
#273
Thanks, I wrote some more (and edited a few parts, so maybe you should read from the begginning if you want to see what I added...)
I am making the game on AGS... but I'm not doing so good on the art. I can draw some stuff, just not all of it... I need a somebody to draw the background.

Hi,
I'm making an adventure game. The puzzles/dialogue of the game, and a little about it, can be found here: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=24342.0
This is my first adventure game.
I can do some of the art, but not all of it. I particularly have trouble with backgrounds and people (and other things)
So, I need some artists. I want the art to be a little like MI1 & MI2, or MI3. Or prefferably somewhere in between there, but feel free to do whatever you want.
I also am kind of stuck in the story. I want more puzzles and dialogue, but don't know what to write next. So you can write dialogue and puzzles if you want.
I know how to use AGS and everything, but I don't know any languages (Well, except english and pig latin, of course xD) or anything, so you could do that too.
My brother is doing some of the music, but if you know how to do music, you can do that too.

I've got a lot of favorite songs from 2005, but none really bring back memories or anything... like you said they have to be.

The Rumpus Room / Re: Best ROCK song ever!

I couldn't say. Almost all the bands I like are a mix of like 10 genres... rock included. But you might not classify them as a rock. (Who really knows what they are?)

Thank You (is there anything the people on this site can't fix?!)
#279
Um, this might seem like a silly question... but remember, I'm a newbie, so I don't know much.
I want to use the LucasArts GUI, but, how do you do that? I download the .zip. But now what? (Read the readme already, but it doesn't say how to install.)
#280
Gah, yeah, I did read that in the tutorial a while back, but I forgot it was in there. Thanks.
UPDATE: It works! IT WORKS!! He can walk!! He's no longer a cripple! Hallejuah!
