STORY:

It's just typical isn't it.  You're planing on having a relaxing day, maybe going to the movies or having a quiet drink at home with friends and what happens?  You get called up by your boss and next thing you know you're expected at work within the next 20 minutes.

Groan, so annoying.  It's even worse when your boss is an egomaniacal, mad scientist (cliche? Of course. 8)) and you promised your girlfriend that you would take her out on the town.  Oh no, you know that girl is crazy.

So what do you do?  Get in, get it done and get out.

Well, thats the plan anyway...

It sure has been productive.  I'm really looking forward to releasing DDIOC soon, I've been working on it for a while now and it's pretty exciting to be getting this close to getting it out there.

An official update - everything is done, well mostly.

Thanks for all your hard work and kind words Mods.  Now Mods very graciously offered to do the music for me some weeks ago and the 2 tracks that we started with has ballooned to 15.   :o  I know it sounds like to much for a game with only 3 playable backgrounds but it does come together very nicely thanks to his dedication.

As I mentioned before everything's complete, so it's time to test it.  I'm looking for 2 testers so please PM if you're interested please PM me.

Ok I've made a lot of progress.  It's completely playable now with a few animations to add, some sounds to find and script and the music is at present being worked on.  So in another week or so everything should be ready for testing, if you're interested please post or PM.   8)

For some reason I can totally see Winnie the Poo and Piglet toodeling through those backgrounds.  I mean that in a good way, very professional looking images that should look fantastic in game and also set it apart from other games.

Do you mean first person ( looking through the characters eyes ie: Myst) as opposed to third person (where the character is on screen ie: monkey island)?

Pros for first person is that there's less work involved, you could easily not have to do a walkcycle at all and the player feels more like he/she is the character in the game.

Pros for third person is that while theres more work involved you do get a much better sense of who the character is just by looking at him.  It's not left up to the players imagination which gives you a lot more control of the story.

My personal preference is 3rd person but I do know loads of people will disagree.  Of course it does in the end depend more on the game your trying to create, imagine what Monkey Island would of been like in first person.   :o

Cool I always enjoyed cluedo, that is until I lost my lead pipe.    :'(

Will the murderer always be the same (ie most adventure games.) or will it be different every time you play?
#113
Really cool.  I like how straight up and honest people have been, it's interesting to hear others experiences with AGS.

I don't know how you do it Dual, your a total workhorse.   8)

No it's not a game.  Well actually there probably is one but it was a movie from the 80's.  I used to love it when I was a kid, whenever I got to choose which video our family would get out I would pick Flight of the navigator.

I HAVEN'T EVEN CONSIDERED THE POSIBLILITY OF MAKING A TRANSFORMERS OR A FLIGHT OF THE WHATEVER GAME!
Don't make up rumors about people you don't know.
Dang I almost ROFL'd    8)   also a flight of the navigator game would be Awesome!!!

I love it and on the plus side it will be a nice clean graphic style.  It should make for smooth progress.

Position filled!!  Thanks everyone.   ;D

It's been over a week now since my initial post and I've actually made some good progress.  I actually surprised myself, thought I wouldn't have any time at all this week.

I learned a few things scripting wise (objects can't be altered within the global script, D'oh), I made what might end up being the best animation in the game and I realised that rap battleling is pretty much the same thing as insult sword-fighting.  Go-figure.

So yeah it's been a constructive week.  Another 5% closer for both graphics and scripting, 10% added on for Music/sound  ;) up to a grand total of 10%, still it's all progress.

Thanks once again for the kind words and the comparison to John Travolta, that has to be good!

Thanks for all the kind words, it's amazing how just knowing there's people out there with an interest in my project makes me feel more enthusiastic.  I did spend a wee bit of time trying to get the gui right and I'm glad people seem to like it.

Yeah Danny's a smoker, personally I wouldn't touch a ciggarette but nothing says cool and rebelion like a ciggie.

Thanks Darth, good to know, I've been trying to improve my grammar just recently.  It's becoming more and more obvious to me how important it is.  I probably have been using it that way, I better check it out and fix it.  P.S. Thanks for the hug.

This game looks cool and as a huge bonus i can pretend i'm playing as John Travolta.
Doe's he really look like John Travolta?

Not much to say progress wise but I'm planning on doing some work today.

EXTRA INFO:

I've gone for a very retro 320 x 240 resolution, there's nothing like it. Danny Dread is on Call (or DDIOC) is essentially a comedy with I suppose a horror element to it.  It is quite small (That's what she said! Woooo) at only 3 backgrounds, but there is a lot packed into those backgrounds.

This will be my first game, though I've been lurking around the forums and playing AGS games for a while now.  I have admittedly tryed my hand a few times in the past but I think before I was trying to do to much to quickly.  :P  But I've learned a lot over the years, what works for me.

I'm doing the scripting, spriting, animation, yada yada myself but I will be looking for someone to do some music for the game (Maybe 2 tracks ???) and as I we get closer to the release date some testers as well.
