What about a completely different series?  Or is Ron that important to everyone?

I downloaded your source for that mario clone you made Calin and I learned a lot from it.

The commenting sucked though.   :P

Well, to be fair even though I think the majority of comments made have been in good humour, Harg obviously feels like we are attacking him personally.    :'(  Makes me sad.

Harg, everyone here makes games (well mostly), there's over 1,000 amateur adventure games available of variable degrees of quality.  Every one of us makes mistakes and have different tastes in what we think is good.

I've never been that keen on the idea of a police themed game but after reading this topic I'm actually really interested.  Sounds like there's some wicked potential for story line.

If you gave it a white outline you would always be able to see it.

Nope I've got a vista machine and at the very least command & conquer: Tiberium dawn works.  I did have to use a patch but it tells you where to get them from a link on the page where you can download them.

General Discussion / Re: AGS group projects
Sat 27/02/2010 09:10:59
It's definitely possible but constant communication is the key, as well as strong leadership of course.  Without someone who provides direction for the team the project is doomed to failure.

I've been involved with a couple so far.  First one was Monk game, like the TV series, which didn't last very long at all.  We had some trouble finding a background artist from memory and it went stale really quickly.  Funny how one person can make such a big difference especially in regard to the art side of the game, if someone leaves halfway through a game it can be so difficult to replace them that it's easier to just drop the whole thing altogether.

The second group project is the one I'm on now, it's a Indiana Jones fan game "Indiana Jones and the Seven Cities of Gold".  Seems like this one may last the distance, I hope it does any way.  There's a good group of people involved and things seem to be progressing well.

I also agree of the benefits of being able to punch people   ;D

I've tried to give him more of a realistic angled look but I'm not sure, I think I prefer the original way I did it.

I like the fact that the original showed more of the character, even if it sacrifices some realism.  To be honest I quite like the old final fantasy style of doing things.

;D  I wondered if anyone would guess who it was.

He still needs some work, the cloaks all wrong it should be colour shifting acording to the books but I'm more interested in getting something workable to see if I can do the scripting side of things.
#73
Okay I think looks a ton better.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah it's supposed to be as if you're looking from above making him look a bit distorted.  It's kinda a difficult thing to achieve without making it look a bit japanese cutified.

Ahhh Arboris that looks amazing, I'm always too afraid of using colours but I think I'll make an edit based on your suggestion.  Also the wrinkles in the cloak looks great.

Stealing image now...  ;D

Critics' Lounge / Top down RPG type character
Mon 08/02/2010 10:20:42
I've recently become quite interested in making a RPG in AGS, mostly as a bit of a scripting challenge and also because I always felt that the "Wheel of Time" books would make an excellent final fantasy style roleplaying game.

Anyway I'm not really a hundred percent sure about this first sprite.  I want a angled view look to the characters but I want to fall somewhere between those old games that I used to play on the snes and something a bit more modern looking.  Here's what I've come up with so far...

Any advice etc will be appreciated.

I have to agree with Ali and Markbilly about the name.  People are always going to think of the matrix first, and that;s obviously what you don't want.

Woo  :o I love the new screenshot, very atmospheric.

Well I thought I might as well get on the band wagon...

Danny Dread is On Call

-Best Non-player Character  (For Noname the Clown)
-Best Music
-Best Animation
-Best Short Game

Why do I think it deserves these possible honours?  Well, I just plain like the Clown.  The music is awesome, thanks again to Mods for his contribution, syncing in with the cutscenes.  And finally the animations, while small in size this game boasts an impresive 50 or so animations (I admit I can't remember exactly how many).

Ditto for Cedric and the Revolution.  Great game, I wish Bernie would make another, he was a real talent.

My game tries to be funny.   ;D

I've come up with a solution.

It's so simple, I can't belive no one thought of it.

You ready..... It'l blow your mind.....

Give every game a 3 cup rating, then everyone's happy.  Except for the people who had a higher rating, but they're in the minority so that's ok.    ;D

Problem solved, fools.
