One technique is to think of something obvious your protagonist needs to do for the story to progress (dig a hole, unlock a door, eat a pear) then take away their means to do it (make the shovel factory be on strike, put the key on the other side, make the character have no mouth).

From Cyberdreams unsuccessful sequel "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Eat Pear".

It's not the size, it's the server I guess.

All I can see is the words "Pic-Upload.de  site don't allowed"

Ah I can't believe no ones entered into this comp yet!!   :o

Great concept by the way SPC.

I can't see it, would love to though.

Thanks Mods I think you might be right there, I'm probably getting concerned with nothing.

Plus I've got a whole heap of sprites of Danny burning a whole in my harddrive, I might as well use them.  ;D
I won't let out any spoilers (mostly because I've only got vauge ideas at the moment) but I want to make the events of the last game have an impact, all be it a small one, on the next game.

I don't think it was just you Helme.  That seemed to be the area in which most people felt it fell down.

I guess in the end of the day all you can do is make the best game you can, and try to learn from your mistakes.  I definitely would go about it differently now, knowing what I do from my experiences.

I've recently finished my game and put it up on the AGS database.  I'm really happy with it and for the most part it's as I originally imagined it, but I'm thinking about making another game (most likely a sequel) and from how people voted it seems that the thing that was lacking was immersion.

So really I guess my question is: How can I add immersion into a game?  Particularly comedy games.

I should probably add that I'm not complaining, I simply want to make my next game better.    ;D

Haha that's awesome.

Thanks Ryan for your frankness, I have to say I do probably agree with most if not all of what you mentioned.

The music was made to match in with the cutscene for several scenes, and it does sound fantastic, trouble is that if you click through the music will be out of sync.  But I can see how that would be irritating if you have to do something more than once, I think until we have some type of iMUSE module or whatever for AGS that type of thing may have to be put on the backburner.

As for the pixelhunt, well, I did try to make it a reasonable sized area but I do probably agree some sort of visual indication would of helped.  To be honest I think next time I make a game (if I can be bothered) I will have to have a much more carefull plan in place for the puzzles.  This time it just got thrown together.

Next time I would love to get 4 cups, that would be a dream come true.   ;D

I really like the style reminds me of BASS.  I'm a bit confused as to your resolution, it seems like you're trying to do a lowres style in a hi resolution.

x 3

I've reduced the size to 19 x 48 pixels just to show you what I mean.

I lengthened the legs and arms to make him look more realistic, gave the legs a bit of shape and gave his shoulders a gentler slope.

I think I've mucked around with the dimensions too much but at least it gives you an idea on how you can improve your sprite.

Oh man that was just some plain stupidity on my part.  I have no idea what I was thinking when I scripted that.

I'll fix it and re-upload.

Heh heh.   8)

Old Stan did cross my mind when I was designing his character.

I'm surprised about that to Arjon, I would of thought that would of been picked up pretty quickly.

Cheers for the nice comments Scarab and Snake, I was slightly worried that my sense of humour wouldn't work very well for a adventure game.

I used the lip sync feature feature for the talking animations, I only used 5 different frames but I think it came together really well.  It's also why the clowns gestures are so random.

Music was supplied by the very talented Mods who also did Art of Theft.  Very clever man that.

Yeah you can change it by opening winsetup.exe.  Then change the graphics filter to either 2x, 3x or 4x.

Thanks abstauber.  I have to admit I was kinda worried about that puzzle because it was a little bit random, I tried to balance out the clues a wee bit but maybe I should of made it a bit more obvious.  If I hadn't worked the puzzle out in the first place I'm pretty sure that's where I would of got stumped.   ::)
