Zazzle looks better than CafePress. I've heard a lot of horror stories about CafePress. Zazzle tends to be more expensive, but from what I hear it's higher quality.

I think the vocal spacing will work... it's more of a vocal breathing technique issue. Honestly, Andail's sounded fine to me. There were a few of the faster parts in the lyrics which could be given more definition, but that's more about practicing it further.

Coming along! Great work, Andail.

My only concern is the mixing itself, isn't too focused. That's the downside of using panning, instead of thinking about sound layers.

Love the mouse clicks at the end! :)

If anyone wants to maybe give it a try at mixing it go ahead, I got all the original wav files on my computer...

I'll try mixing it if you want, this has promise! Just make sure the original wav files are as dry (the original ones, uneffected) as possible.

Saw Ron Carter, Hiromi, and Pat Metheny/Brad Mehldau this semester. All very awesome shows!

Note that biothlebop didn't say there is no absolute truth. He said there is not always absolute truth.

Gotcha, not seeing the "always" made a big difference. ;)

He doesn't appear to me to be saying that there's no absoluteness in truth. He appears to me to be saying that insofar as statements can be considered true, their truth or falsehood depends upon the definitions of the terms used.

But that's not what absolute truth is, by its definition.

There is not always (if ever?) an objective, absolute truth.

I don't think the music is very original, but I also don't think that music has to be original to be good. I also think that original music sometimes automatically means crap.

It's getting the right balance of new stuff along with unoriginal stuff that's the key.

Truth:

There is not always (if ever?) an objective, absolute truth.

You say there's no such thing as absolute truth, but that by nature defies itself. Although everything we input is subjective as our natural disposition and thus our disconnection from reality, that doesn't mean there's no such thing as absolute truth. In fact, it gives more evidence that we are unqualified to assume any claim regarding truth. We're still watching the shadow-play on the cave wall.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with wanting some compensation for your hard work. If we weren't selling Super Jazz Man, from the overall viewpoint we'd be losing money (webhost costs, not to mention our time which could be spent elsewhere).

You're likely to make most of your sales of AGS games within the AGS community, I imagine because we're slightly more willing to pay a little extra for a game in order to 'support the community'.

You'd be surprised, SPC.  The AGS community makes up a small chunk of my sales, but the majority comes from folks who have never even heard of AGS.  The folks on this site are used to playing free games, so that was to be expected.  The first thing I noticed when I started selling my games is that fewer AGSers were playing them, but they got noticed by more "mainstream" gamers.  A commercial game generally attracts more attention than a freeware game would.  You'll get more press, but that doesn't necessarily mean more sales.

I concur. Same exact thing here. Not to say we didn't get any AGS community-related sales of course, but the majority of the sales were from more general adventure gamers and gamers.

In reality I doubt the contracts should be something TOO difficult to do. I mean, there IS trust in this community... If you tell me, Greg, that you got the money (for example) and donated them to oxfam, or unicef or whatever, I believe you, no doubt. After all I know where you live ;D

Hahahah, this is true. :)

Well, it's more about someone organizing the whole thing...

Additionally as far as I remember CJ always says no to such ideas... :-\ Still donating the money to starving children or something seems a better idea.

Donating would be nice. It's then more of an issue of... do you think people (in the AGS community, at least) would purchase the CD, for it to be worth the effort of organizing contracts and whatnot for such a collaborative (in a sense) CD?

I think I know what you're talking about... more like a CD of just a bunch of tunes from various AGS members, generating some cash for CJ or donated, etc. I've seen other forums (usually music-related though) do this sort of thing.

Found this.  It appears to be in Chinese, and I can't understand what they're saying, but it's still kind of fun and educational to watch.

Cool information, thanks for posting this!

P.S. Japanese, not Chinese. ;)

Sheesh. After years of playing in a group, you'll start seeing your own distinct, personal style and originality emerge. I don't really see criticizing originality valid anyway--it's such an amorphous, opinionated definition anyway. And at what granularity does the definition infer?

Music is a world of imitation, and through imitation and the reusing of ideas, new things evolve. You can't criticize this; it's the natural process of music.

Honestly, you're probably best off using a pre-made neck. Getting the right radius and whatnot can get really frustrating. It's one of those things you need plenty of experience in, and don't figure on getting it perfect the first time, at least.

Other than that, the body should be easier. Just make sure that any mass in the neck is equalled out by the weight of the body for good balance.

Sounds excellent! I can't wait to hear what more you record!
