Oooh, interview me, too!

Then again, not.

Big Brother's the "mastermind" behind Herculean Effort. He has a LOT of interesting stuff he could tell you in the interview. (like how to construct a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich using only one hand)

Besides, if you interviewed me, I'd probably go babbling off about diatonic chord scales in B sharp. :)

EDIT: ...which is, by the way, a very interesting topic.

Hi,

So here's the rules for this week's contest:

Make a song (or cover of a song) that sounds as realistic as possible without using any live instruments.

By "realistic", I mean that the instruments in your songs should sound like they were preformed by real players. For example, if you have a guitar in your song, you could add a few fret noises to make it sound more realistic. You get the idea.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck!

Woohoo!

I will create next contest as soon as possible.

Amazing new functions! Awesome work, CJ!
#1725
I thought the original version was already punk! :)
#1726
A funky dance? Oh, my! Sounds like a song I'd like. :)
#1727
Hey, you stole my thing where it gets all dramatic and then goes back to the goofy theme! Nice job!
#1728
Thanks, guys. May I remind you that I am not responsible for any damage/injuries that may occur as a result from listening to the song.

Actually, the song started out as a cheezy swing jazz cover, but then I changed the beat to more of a reggae one.

Advanced Technical Forum / Re:32bit colour

For me, I see no need for 32-bit color. Save it for later, CJ.

The alpha channel would be nice. But instead of changing the file formats or anything, maybe you could just import two bitmaps -- one normal pic, and the other would be an alpha channel one.

Again, these are really long-term ideas. I can see where the alpha channel stuff would take a while to implement -- and a LOT of work!

Oooh, this will be fun! Can I do a cover of any popular songs, too?

EDIT: Well, too late, here's my entry: http://www.sonic.net/~schlae/herculeaneffort/SWentry.mid

Hopefully, after (or while) listening to this, you will fall off your computer chair giggling and pounding the floor, all the time crying out, "It's so STUPID!" At least, this is what I did several times during the creation of this monstrosity. And then my back hurt.

Enjoy!

Congrats, Migs! I hope to participate in the next contest!

I don't really care too much about the raw painting on sprites. And I am fine with the screen coordinates versus resolution deal. But to have a function like "LoadImage (string filename, int slot)" would be pretty cool. I would definitely use it.
#1733
You know what would be really cool:

LoadImage (string filename, int slot);

This would load a image into a specified slot. Are you hip to this idea?

Oh, and maybe you could have some general image editing commands, like "crop image" and stuff like that.

And please don't translate me in the future... :)

Only if you're not writting in my mother language. ;D

I still don't think he's a good boy...

I thought my lack of tones would throw you off. Maybe if I learn Cantonese it would annoy you more. :)

Shen me? Chris bu shi yi ge hao hai zi? Wo de tian a!
#1735
Gilbot, CJ is a good boy for making such good improvements to AGS. And please don't translate me in the future... :)
#1736
Yeah, I know. Screen coordinates. I wish the screen coordinates would match the resolution. Maybe if we beg CJ enough...
#1737
I'm assuming that when you refer to "screenshot support for save games" it would be somewhat like the text description that is attached to a savegame.

The screenshot support for save games is nice, but with my idea, you could do more stuff than that. It's a bit more general.

I dunno, actually, I think the screenshot support would be better. It's easier to use than a RawGetColor function.
#1738
Accusing me of ripping it off, eh, Remixor?

Just kidding. Anyways, don't give me any credit. The song is Migs's.
#1739
Well, here goes:

A function that would return the color of a specified pixel on the screen.

That way you could make those little save game snapshots and other cool stuff like that.

Thanks,

Geoffkhan

Thanks for the maximum object increase -- I needed that!
