Hi all,

I wanted to introduce myself (even though I'm a long term AGS member, here's a formal introduction ;)). My name is Greg Schlaepfer, and I am a professional freelance composer. I mostly compose orchestral, rock, and electronic music, but due to my background in jazz (I have my B.A. in music with a concentration in jazz) I have experience writing for that style of music as well.

Demo Reels:

On my website you will find streaming versions of these demo reels as well as my bio information, which lists previous computer game and film projects I have been involved with: http://www.orangetreeaudio.com

You can contact me at: contact AT orangetreeaudio DOT com

I look forward to hearing from you,

Greg Schlaepfer,

The first link worked of course...

But any way you can get this code in the redirecting domain?

Code: ags

I think the use of frames is messing the favorite icon up.

Yay, good for you! Cheers!

Really cool stuff to think about! A few months back I was thinking about this same exact topic, what a coincidence!

I've heard Nathan's music in the past, and bumped into him on various music forums. He's an excellent musician, I really like his work.

I'm speechless. RIP George Carlin.

I'm surprised that I haven't heard of half of those cars there.
I was looking at the engine size and the maximum towing capacity and it doesn't look like any of those cars will make it (towing capacity of 1000lbs to 1500lbs - with around 100lb tongue weight).

I dunno, man. Hatchbacks towing things around? Get a truck. You'll wear the poor hatchback out.

General Discussion / DVD to video file
Wed 07/05/2008 06:17:12
Hey guys, I'm trying to convert a DVD (non-commercial) to a file format such as .mov or .wmv or such. I tried using HandBrake, and although I like it, its output formats and encoding options are limited.

Is there any other good software that can allow me to do this? Any ideas much appreciated.

I love you guys.

You have your own voice to contribute to music. Nobody can sound like you, and you can't sound like anybody else. Your voice is invaluable to the progress of music; technique and theory can be a useful resource for releasing your voice. Sometimes you will listen to someone else play and identify with an emotion or whatnot--discovering another part of your own voice through listening to others.

The russians are already calling this a anti-satellite missile test, claiming it's not the first time a satellite becomes unstable and that usually they just burn up in atmosphere. But I wouldn't trust that source, since they've so many false accusations lately :)

That's basically what this is. The satellite most likely would just crash in the ocean somewhere, and the shielding around the core (where the fuel is stored) is strong enough to stay intact no matter where it lands, anyway. Then again, there's no harm in playing it safe. And, simultaneously proving that you have the capability of shooting things out of orbit...

Yup, that's exactly what I heard. Just an excuse to test out the anti-satellite missiles or whatever.

Good idea. I would be interested, but actually for music CD purposes.

I kind of agree but would say it like this:  Republicans who aren't happy with their candidates especially John McCain.   McCain is counting on the fact that his base dislike Clinton more than they dislike him and that will be enough to get them out to vote for him.  What he is no counting on is the possibility of Obama winning the Democrat nomination.   If it ends up Obama vs McCain, those who dislike McCain will either stay home or vote for Obama out of protest.  Those who like McCain afre likely to like Obama better and so they will likely vote Obama.   So in this scenario Obama wins in a huge landslide, IMHO.

I think you're right on. If it's between McCain and Obama, I'm voting for Obama no question about it... actually I wouldn't vote for Romney or Huckabee either.

General Discussion / Re: Sibelius 5.1
Mon 04/02/2008 05:50:36
Sibelius is awesome for the jazz charts I write. It's great for leadsheets as well as big band arrangements. Sibelius is very easy to use and the interface is logical.

However, I think it's important to note that major publishing companies such as Hal Leonard (sorry I'm a jazz guy, that's what first comes to mind), etc. all deal with Finale scores only. It's the industry standard as far as that goes, so bear that in mind.

If you plan on writing jazz in Finale, save yourself a lot of frustration and buy a jazz template for it, or make one yourself.

Go to court.

More than likely the officer won't even show up and then you'll be clear.

Exactly.

In the future it's probably best not even to try to reason with an officer. They're not going to change their mind. But this is something you could stand a chance in court, and yes, many times the officer won't even show up.

The Sennheiser HD 280 headphones MesaBlue mentioned are nice. They have good isolation and good tone. However, you have to treat them nicely, or else I've heard that the place where the cable connects to the headphones can break.

If you don't care about isolation (like if you don't record with a mic, needing isolation from the monitored signal) you could look into open-backed headphones. The electrostatic headphones sound incredible (of course, they are more expensive).
