I see your point but I still think a right idle animation would solve your problem. Instead of tapping a foot or juggling coloured balls or picking his nose, make sure you get the breathing done well. It's very simple, really, but it makes characters in your game look so much more alive. We all breathe and hardly ever think about it.

I watched this documentary once about making of a War Horse, some kind of play that featured actors dressed as WWI horses, and it was then when I realized how important that is for a puppet to breathe. Now, a game character is like a puppet, right? Especially in a horror game, the anxiety and fear can be very well expressed by a person's respiratory rate...

I can't help you with the technical side of what you described in your post, though I'm pretty sure it can be done with a bit of effort. I don't have enough knowledge myself for that I'm afraid... But I've notcied this post has been largely ignored for some reason so I thought I'd drop a word of advice. So, in two words- reconsider this running around the screen following mouse cursor idea and maybe try to get a transparent background for your sprites, use a bit of push/ warp to get few frames of idle animation and see how it looks. It sure works for me!:)

I would be really grateful if someone helped me with the following:

- I need one line of decent quality voice acting recorded: "Well, well... Look what the cat's dragged in..." That's all. It's for the upcoming Cat Lady trailer#2. Prefereably female, can be "male sounding like a female" too:)

It's being said by a very ugly nurse in blood stained uniform who is pretty much a cross between Silent Hill nurses and nurse (Edna?) from Maniac Mansion 1. And that's why a man would fit this role too.... ;)

I thought about posting on VA Allegiance forums... but I want to save myself trouble registering on "yet another forum" and I know there are great people here, always up for a challenge;)

Nah, not really. I hate you all... ;)

But please help me with this va so the world can see the eagerly awaited next trailer !  ;)

Ok. But what about understanding that it's a parody? Like Naked Guns movies- they're not real life drama either, right? ;) I'd really love to hear your explanation of this.

Oh, Moon..... I love that film!!! Right until now, I thought I was the only person that has ever watched it ;)

I think the only thing that stopped me from playing the first game was... the tiny little screenshots you had of it. I couldn't see what was on them at all. I actually stopped at that thread, saw how popular it was and thought: should I give this one a go? Then always steered away, thinking it was probably rubbish... ;)

Now, I look at these screens and man, they're really good and LARGE! Excellent! Now, this has already convinced me that I want to play the game and I sure will once it's out.

Also, I think it's bizzare how  your art style doesn't match your avatar... ;) While the game looks really sweet and cute ( fine, there's a boob, okay, but it's a cute boob, too) your avatar looks like a pissed off rock'n'roller surrounded with hungry beasts from hell, fighting for survival... ;)

Cool.    :)

Regarding the game: OSD is a parody. I fail to see that in this game at all.

I often wondered, myself... And I've decided that he doesn't see it that way, surely, because if he did he wouldn't make all the 74 OSD games (including the unreleased ones and imaginary ones)!

It's scary to think what'd happen if our Icey played Monkey Island and decided to have a go at making a sequel. ( [Load your old Monkey Island save games to receive a bonus rubber chicken...] ).

Actually, please, consider this! After we've all played and enjoyed the final  best OSD game maybe  you could try doing a 'versus game', you know, like "Guybrush Threepwood VS PMQ" ki nd of thing, and get a  job at Lucasarts instead?;)

I'm sorry but I actually agree with Wham...

Without further explaining, I'll let this link speak of the solution I have in mind for this problem:

And, Dual, I don't think you realize what British hoodies are like... Perhaps it's a bit different in Greece, especially since recent problems you had... But thugs here are real something....

This is no revolution or manifestation of freedom- this is a bunch of kids who never bothered to work stealing TVs for the sake of having fun.

And how do you know of such fact, may I inquire you?

I read a paper.

This is no revolution or manifestation of freedom- this is a bunch of kids who never bothered to work stealing TVs for the sake of having fun. I read something about taking away their benefits and I really hope that happens- these lazy bastards get paid by hard working people's taxes, well, hopefully not for much longer.

Someone I know suggested we take all hoodies out of the country  and onto an isolated island on the Pacific... Now, wouldn't that be great? Until they'd figured how to build boats and come back we'd get ourselves few years of peace and quiet...

>Climb the ladder.  Isn't that obvious? ;) It's some kind of elevator shaft in a zombie infested lab, clearly.

Great news! I'm happy for you:)

Stop being happy and get to work! NAUUUUUUUU!!!

I can't work when I'm happy. Better give me some bad news, quickly! ;)

But seriously, my girlfriend works in a renal unit. I hear this and that about kidney failure and I know how bad it is when your kidneys stop working... and I know how hard it is to get a donor. So yeah, you're a lucky lucky man. Enjoy your life! :)

Completed Game Announcements / Re: Cart Life

Oh my God, what a fantastic game! I love every aspect of it! It is a shame that some other games.threads around here get some attention while Cart Life has had relatively little feedback... Maybe it's because people who tried it are too busy to post because they are still playing it?:)

One thing for sure, the title and the introduction doesn't make it look like it's a ground breaking genre-defining game ( which in my opinion it is) and I admit it took me a while to go ahead and try it.  But I'm very glad I did. Actually, I might even get a full version because... well, it really is a wonderful example how games have grown up and turned into this wondeful mature form of entertainment that adults can enjoy without  embarassment.

Well done.

Oh, also, make sure you get some reviews in adventure game sites!!! For a commercial product it's odd I couldn't google anything up about it... I'm certain PC Gamer UK will write about it ( they seem to check best AGS games every month).

Too many adventure games start with endless dialogs that do nothing to hook player in. I'm not saying you need the two explosions to achieve that, but in my opinion when characters talk about things that you're not yet involved with in any way, it's a poor start... All that gets much more interesting when you've got to know them a bit more and you know what's going on. Best recent examples here are Gray Matter and Black Mirror 3- fairly decent games but due to the extremely slow introduction of the story they will forever remain games for the hardcore fans.

With many modern commercial adventure games I often feel like they are made not for people but for the idea of what adventure genre fans are like- boring. I think it's time developers changed the way they look at their potential customers and made good games, instead of games that sell ( but that was probably already said too many times, anyway ;))

Hey, just thought about something... Didn't Hitchcock say that you should start with a big bang and then slow down and gradually build up the tension again? So, maybe these explosions are not a bad idea after all?... :)

Great game. I enjoyed it. The best part is when the guy meets a baby under a lamp post. Near the bridge.
