After looking at that baby pic for a few seconds...it might not be yours.

I think CJ may be the father.

Sorry to break the bad news to you.

No, you're wrong there! CJ's baby looks like this:

General Discussion / Re: Election Season!

In my experience, where I come from, if you're too clever not to vote, then you allow all the idiots to go and make the worst choice of all....

Then, also, in my experience, those "choices" sometimes get onto planes and...............................................................

Thanks for the comments:) ( and a cool picture:))

Here he is. It was incredible.....I won't even attempt to describe what birth is- you have to witness it to really understand....

It was a long and tough ride. Three days of pain and suffering... and then he finally decided to come out. I saw him take his first breath. I cut his umbilical cord. That was weird but also great in the same time... And as he lied on his mothers chest for the first time everything sort of subsided around us, went really really quiet, as if all the terrible things that went on for hours never happened. It was unbelievable, the strange power this little man had to put an end to all that chaos and shut everyone up!

Well, his name is Gabriel and he's awesome. He will probably be a great man when he grows up, but my advice to him will always resemble this from Lynard Skynard's song "Simple Man":

Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul
And you can do this baby, if you try
All that I want for you my son is to be satisfied

And be a simple kind of man
Be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son if you can?

Boy, don't you worry you'll find yourself
Follow your heart and nothing else
And you can do this baby, if you try
All that I want for you my son is to be satisfied

Well, anyway... here he is. A strange little man who one day will change the world ( and if he doesn't, hopefully he'll still be satisfied:) I know I will):

38 and 37 should be normal.... maybe you really thought it was Fahrenheit? Even though then he'd be a frozen corpse.

I beg to differ. In my line of work ( auxiliary nurse ) I take people's temperatures all the time. For 38 degrees Celcius this poor chap would score 2 early warning points already! Clearly, he's got a fever.

I don't even want to know what his blood pressure is....

EDIT:

Now that I stop and think about it, it does seem to be a problem in this case as his flesh seems to turn white and blue.

AND HE CUTS IT OFF WITH SCISSORS!!!!!!!!!!!!

...I cut a lot of white or blue flesh with scissors, temperature
is only 38 degrees or lower...

Only 38?... :o

I suggest you do go the doctors after all, your life might be at risk here.....

I tried to vote but it's all too complicated... I might have another go in a minute. I just have a nasty feeling that once they get my email address they will spam me forever... :-\

Hey, I know it's got nothing to do with AGS... but I just wanted to share with my favourite community that my partner's water just broke and we'll be heading to the hospital any minute now...:) I am obviously very excited:) I know I shouldn't be posting now, but I'm waiting for the midwife to arrive anyway.. and just needed to tell someone. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

This is what he looked like few months ago:

I will post another (screen)shot when he's out. Hopefully later tonight:)

Oh, the plan is to call him Gabriel, as in Gabriel Knight:) I hope his mother doesn't change her mind! I tried Guybrush...but she just wouldn't have it:)

Just wondering, will the game ever appear on other downloadable services? Like Steam, or Impulse?

It's also also available from Wadjet Eye Games website. And I'm in the middle of negotiations with Impulse:)

Finished the game yesterday...

Spoiler

1.  I completely believe you with you say you worked the graveyard shift at a mental hospital.  You definitely are using "source material" that most of us are mercifully ignorant of.  [Yes, I try to get into the developers head too.]

2.  I get it that Ivy/Sophie/Agnes are all the same.  I would have included Reception Girl too, but I just can't see Joe being part of the psychological makeup as well.  The delusion seems to be about Joe and his wife's mental breakdown.  Ergo, every woman Joe meets in the delusion should be Ivy/Sophie/Agnes, but Joe should always be himself.

3.  Endings -- I never tried SURRENDER with PASSION and I'm assuming that will go badly, but the SURRENDER with LOYALTY combo seems weaker than the others.  Do you have trouble believing there is any redemption for Joe?  Why didn't that get a followup scene?

4. BUGS - I encountered some of the same bugs as everyone else.  The only thing new I have to contribute is that during the BOSS FIGHT, reloading the shotgun caused the game play (but not the music) to freeze for 10 seconds, which doesn't sound like much but kinda killed the dramatic moment.

5.  I never once considered listening to the laughing corpses and shooting Agnes, but WOW was that scene disturbed.

6.  Music for the blender... that really broke the mood.  Which I thought was extremely bad, but the atmosphere of the game is so critical.

7.  IF you need a voice actor or a beta tester for THE CAT LADY, I've volunteering!!!

Out of curiostiy, was anything about DOWNLFALL influenced by DARK FALL.  The name is close and both of them are set in a hotel with horrific guests/ghosts?

Spoiler

1.Well, it was a nursing home really. Still, a lot of horrible stuff happens in those places too. I'm working in the hospital now so expect plenty of that in my next game:)
2.Ivy/Sophie/Agnes situation is quite complex really... Ivy is the outside part of her personality, the part Joe tries to save because she is clearly very ill. Sophie is the monster that lives inside her, her illness. Joe seems to believe that by defeating her he will rid of all the problems she suffers from, naive little man:) Agnes, on the other hand, is the part of her that Joe fell in love with- funny and adventurous, and a bit stroppy but never too much. She has been lost for a long time and Joe doesn't seem to recognize her anymore...
The receptionist on the other hand symbolizes his temptation to give up and forget about his ill wife and all the problems she has poisoned his life with.

4.Never had the bug you mention happen to me during the boss fight... Clearly I needed to test it more:)

5.You should never listen to laughing corpses.

6.Let's hope Steven Wilson doesn't ever find this thread....EVER!:)

7. I will need testers, of course. I'm putting you on my future list of testers ( in my head) next to Arjon. We will kill all the bugs without mercy!:)

And I never played Dark Fall, although I've heard it's good. I think the maker of Dark Fall played Downfal though; he sent me an email a while ago.... But I'm not sure if it was him....;)

I'd like to see the game without the need to consume food and drink. Elements like these dilute the experience from fun rpg into survival+time management simulation.  You have to decide if it's a post-apoc simulator or a post-apoc game, imo.  It's interesting you should list fallout as an inspiration since that had no food 'requirement' (food just restored small amounts of health).

I don't agree. I think the food/drink meter is a neat touch that would add extra layer of depth to the gameplay.:)

I love the general idea behind this game and I can imagine it must be quite a challenge to code all this RPG stuff. One thing I'd love to see improved is the characters though- the main hero appears to be just a stickman.... If he could be just a tiny bit bigger... :P

Juicy new screenshot:) Looking good!

And if you do get to work with Warmer on the music I can only say he's an incredible artist and some of his songs have this deep sci-fi feel to them...:)

I got 4 pages in the Russian "on paper" magazine last summer ( not being big-headed here but I was damn proud!)including game review and interview with a large photo of my ugly face:). Just one page in French magazine... :P

I had scans somewhere... I'll see if I can find them:)

the whole Sam thing finally makes sense

That's exactly what I thought!!!!!!

Anyway, female gamers are great. I only wish there was more of you:)

Do not go to that meeting it is a trick. You will be surrounded by Zombies, and your brains will be scooped out like an Ice Cream Carton.

Those Zombies will do anything to eat our brains.... :'(

In their defence, they do it to stop the pain. That's perfectly reasonable.
#674
Oh, don't be so bloody serious, will you?:) :)

A pinch of sense of humour would do your games a hell of a good. Take notes from Douglas Adams. I'd love a good barrel puzzle. And I DON'T mean it in a nasty way!

Frodo...you're a woman?...
Also, I'm still missing the zombie...EDIT: Creeped back in when I wasn't looking...:) That's cheeky!

Two strange sentences I thought I'd never use in one post, yet they are on topic!

there are only one or two games in the whole AGS database that I like.

We need to work on that area of your personality and one day you might even get a little tiny bit more popular...... :P ;D

PS. Best thing to do is to turn all the shit "this community" has given to you into your advantage. I suggest lots of barrels, preferably on a lonely asteroids drifting through the space. Also, how about a in-production thread for CQ4? We could continue this discussion there.
#677
To be fair, I've started feeling a bit sorry for Harg after all recent events involving the removal of his games from AGS and the infamous barrel ( +crowbar) debate. Taking criticism is not his strong side, that's true, but I've played worse games than his Cosmo(s) Quest saga, so I've decided to cut him some slack this time and support him........

Someone has mentioned you should make another sequel. I think it's a grand idea. I think we'd all play it just to tell you it sucks... but if it wouldn't suck you'd get a perfect comeback and prove us all wrong ( and show us that we suck instead).:)

I know this is off -topic, but this is the hidden meaning behind it, isn't it? It's not about a casual google-related discussion, it's really about proving to us that CQ comes up on Google so it's big and great and we should be ashamed for taking the piss out of your game because it's obviously very popular on the web... At least, that's how I see it anyway.

Beautiful graphics! My favourite is the zombie face coming out of the dark...:) Call me a weirdo but I really like this sort of stuff. Keep up the good work!
John Sinclair is a series of horror-novels. So the game will be a horror-adventure(I try to keep it creepy). ;)
But it will not be splatter-game because I think the most adventuregamers don´t like too bloody stuff.
The zombie face will be used as a "shocker-face" in a dream-sequence.(There are more as one shocker-faces.)

I find it's an awful shame actually... Not that there's anything wrong with pirate/detective themed adventure games 'cos we all know and love them, but I really don't think this sort of correctness when it comes to gore and violence must always take place.... I suppose the main reason for that is that people who play adventure games are often older and more mature and they've grown out of getting excited seeing pointless bloodshed on their screens...but when the violence is there to prove a point in the story then that should be ok, shouldn't it?:)

Another reason, as I have recently discovered, is that there are a lot of women playing adventure games. They seem to avoid this kind of stuff. Well, most of them, anyway.

But, my point is, please don't cut on the gore just because you think people won't like it. Just do it the way you think will be best and be true to yourself! :)
