I finished the game. Is there more than one way to finish? I never encountered the room with the second screenshot.
- Shadow 1000 in the completed game thread

Spoiler

To go to the second room you need to bridge the gap between the stairs and the door in the left side of the room. See if you can find something to fit that gap.

The second room will contain clues to some of the questions that King Stephen asks. To answer the first question without using the suggestions you would need to find that clue. If you got that one right without having seen the clue or used the suggestion I would be very surprised.

One week left!
A bunch of great entries have been posted, but there is still room for more.

Had I not been the host of this Jam, this is what would have been my contribution. She is known as the Red Scorpion and I would not be surprised if she finds her way into some future game.

So since I am the host, this sprite is not part of the competition.

Beautiful game! But something seems off to me, maybe I'm not trying hard enough  ???
Spoiler
I've just got back from the hospital, I think I need to go to the Bar (not available yet), back at the Studio the guy in the smoking room says Edwards wants to talk to me about the train stunt.. Edwards doesn't mention it at all, not sure what to do know.

Spoiler
If I understand correctly where you are in the game you need to go back to the hospital and talk more to Cole about the bar.

I figured that since the game takes place in a town occupied by German forces it probably wouldn't be too strange if they left some equipment behind as well. And according to Wikipedia the soviets copied the design and and jerry-cans are apparently common in Russia to this very day.

On the western front the allies captured jerry-cans to use instead of the cans they where issued with, since the jerry-cans where so much better. I'm sure the same thing happened on the eastern front. On the western front the Germans sometimes booby-trapped jerry-cans (knowing that it was a desired item that would get picked up) and left them behind for the other side to find and get killed by the explosion. They might well have used similar tactics on the Russian border.

Looking awesome as always Grok, and also waaaaaay to fast for a mere mortal to release their MAGS entry...

Well done and congratz!

Thanks. I do feel very mortal though.
Best of luck with your entry.

My entry to the MAGS september 2015 competion
Competition thread

Matilda is out catching butterflies when she falls into an adventure.
Puzzles and a quiz

from AGS-games page, zip-file in ordinary download link, with installer in mirror link

I would use that as a puzzle even though it wouldn't really work in real life.
Spoiler
You could possibly get an explosion, but it wouldn't clear a path through the rubble.
The explosive part is not the fuel in its liquid form. It is the fumes in a mixture with air. Oil can have very different properties concerning fumes and might not be all that explosive, as far as I understand. Petrol might be a better choice. Still wouldn't clear the path, but would be more likely to go bang with the right fumes/air mixture. Might still be more difficult than one might expect.
Another way to get the explosion could be to shoot through the can. The can should not be full. You would need a lot of space for fumes.

The jerrycan is a WW2 word. That was what the Americans called the fuel container the Germans used (jerry=german). It was technically a much better construction than what the Americans and British used at that time. Maybe there is something in that, that you could use in the story.

@ Mad    A beautiful entry. ;-D

Reminds me a bit of one of my absolute favorite comic strips, Hobbes and Calvin

I might join in on this one, got just the most perfect devilish villain in mind! :-D Hope it's okay, that it's from my fav TV show though. ;)

That's OK by me and since I make up the rules for this JAM that makes it officially OK.

Lovely to see two more very strong entries,by Hobo and Dropped Monocle Games. We are off to a good start here, but keep them coming.

Grok, you should link to the AGS game page in the first post instead of direct to downloads. You can even put one download (zip) as the main link and the other (installer) as a mirror.

...

Thank you for the tip. I've made that change. Learning new things all the time :)

Thanks Shadow and Mandle, Thank you for your nice words. I'm a bit overwhelmed.:-D
#215
An excellent entry Misj'.

That character would make a great villain. :)

They say that a hero is only as good as his villain, and the villains are often a darn sight more interesting. So the theme for this sprite jam is

Villains, bosses and henchmen

so bring on your best bad boys

the competition ends on the 30th September.

Added a set of trophies for the winners:

Congratulations, Grok! You're the clear winner and the golden trophy is yours:
-----
with all the MAGS and OROW stuff going on at the same time, the lack of entries is understandable.

Thanks Hobo. It was a good theme for the jam, that sadly didn't attract the amount of attention I think that it deserved. Those things happens.

I will retreat to my library, put on my thinking cap, - polish my newly acquired golden trophy - and in a couple of days I will hopefully put up a theme for the next jam.

I assume that thorough play testing was conducted by players outside the group of those who developed it to make sure that the puzzles are reasonably solved by players, at least in conjunction with the hints, right?

morganw has helped us with test-playing (and proof-reading) and he has done a great job. Any remaining issues are in no way his fault.
He too had some problem with this point which resulted in a special hint being put in to help with this part of the puzzle.

Spoiler
Which serial is 'Oasis of Fear' a part of? Look at the outside of the Metcalf's store.

Did you get that hint?

@Creamy

Thank you
Thorgal is in deed a great comic. :)

I've got a basic idea and a title: Matilda and the Curse of King Stephen.

One character (side view walking animation finished), cursors and the background for the first room started.
