A video game should offer enjoyment and challenge. Not early balding.

:D
Nicely put. It's true, a choice of several difficulty levels would be a good idea. Completing it as it is, however,  was incredibly rewarding.

Thanks for your advice with the Master Challenge. I always thought I'd die from excitement and frustration before even getting close to completing it, but "Forgetfulness" went a long way to ease my mind.  ;D

I just completed the game with roughly 2000 RP left... and no useful skill left to invest them in. Something had given me the impression that there would be more levels, and I had assumed that before the final level, I would get to buy all the decent skills, most importantly "in shadows". One bad investment, however, kept me from getting that skill in the end. Also, I don't think there is much room for improvement; I got A-ratings on all levels except the last two (which were a B and a C) and I don't think I can get much better without the aforementioned skill.  :-\

Nevertheless, I think this is a fantastic game, and the best from Yahtzee so far.

Now that I've played the first three missions, I can relatively safely say that this game is simply brilliant.    ;)

Hi everyone,

Yahtzee has released a new game called "Art of theft" on http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/ ... and it looks very promising indeed.

1991. Two years before the events of 5 Days A Stranger. The eccentric British cat burglar Trilby is at large in an American city, robbing the rich to give to himself. Distrustful of his fellow man and patiently skilled in every aspect of burglary, Trilby is on an ongoing quest to scare the ignorant rich by hitting them where it hurts - their wallets. But will his arrogance cause him to bite off more than he can chew?

I just completed the game and I thought it was great. I liked the (however small) love story and found myself rooting for Ben when Alice went walking off with that shirtless gigolo. The music was *great*; my favourites were the tracks in the village, in the oracle's cave and at the ending. The puzzles were straightforward, yes, but that was part of the game's charm for me, as it made the game flow with some pauses, but without any overly frustrating halts. I never thought, "Ah, that's just too easy". There are just too many games out there that get me to the point where I start using every item I have with every other item randomly just because I have absolutely no idea what to do. I'm glad BJ6 is not one of them. I agree would be cool if you made exits more visible and if you shortened the walking time.

Overall: Great work!

Pick of the month - finally!  :D   ;)
Three cheers for Nelly and rum for everyone!

EDIT: And now Nelly's on jayisgames.com!

A fine game indeed, with absolutely fantastic graphics and great music. What seriously gets on my nerves is the pseudo-shakespearean language. Words and phrases like "lest" and "Know you where..." that don't fit in with the rest of the dialogues stand out like a snail in a salad bowl. That won't keep me from playing though  :-\

The screenshots look absolutely fantastic! You can tell how cool they are from the fact that I'm looking forward to this game although I never liked the TV series.  ;)

*The window also caused a problem with the drawing of the garden that's supposed to be on the other side. I tried bushes, a path, etc., but it all seemed to prominent, and drew attention away from the important parts IN the room.

I think that is because there are not enough objects inside the room that would keep your attention from wandering off to the outside. The windowsills need more than three cushions in the corner - they need a clock, lamps, a candlestick, a statuette, books and plants and maybe letters. Not to forget a bottle of sherry and glasses.  ;)

If you want inspiration, I can recommend the comic book "On the False Earths" (originally called "Sur les Terres Truquées") by Mezière and Christin, which has some nice Victorian interiors; the same goes for "Le démon des glaces" by Jacques Tardi.

I think it's mainly the colour of the floor that makes the rest of the room look like it doesn't really belong there. You could try this: Instead of the violet, use a colour that is just a little darker than the walls.

Another thing is the walls at the bottom of the picture. They don't seem to fit in perspective-wise.

The outstanding graphics and the cool story made this game lots of fun to play. In many ways this is a game that is on a par with professional products from good ol' Lucasfilm Games.

There was only one thing that I really got stuck on for ages - the fact that a right-click on an item in the inventory mostly meant "Look at" - but also "Use" sometimes! It took me hours to figure out that you needed to right-click on
Spoiler
the pulse reader, for example...

As I have pointed out in the comments on the database page, I recommend changing the violence rating of this game from "mild" to "strong" or whatever the other adjective is. A game in which people get stabbed to death by bony fingers in the intro is _not_ mildly violent.
I just saw this has already been done.

greetings 23-down

There is an answer to that five posts or so above yours. There is also a complete walkthrough on indygamer now.

There are some (tiny) inaccuracies in the walkthrough.
Spoiler

These are the ones I noticed:
"39. Head right, then search the POD to trigger a cutscene." should read "Head left"
and
"30. Wait for a while until you hear the voice, then use the NECKLACE on the creature." should read "...then right-click on the NECKLACE." Using it on the creature doesn't do anything.

EDIT: Tim W. has updated the walkthrough.

How can I open the chest army? And what for the hole on the same room?

You need to
Spoiler
put a blue crystal into the hole, later you'll find something to copen the chest. If you don't know where the crystal is, look in places that are not immediately accessible in the blue spaceship.

@ marko33: Right-click on it.

Still stuck here. Anyone?

You use it to
Spoiler
cut a cable right below the laser fence. What was that about the warrior robot?

@Jammy: Just leave it alone. You'll find another one.

Groogokk, thanks, I actually figured that out right before you posted.  So now I got the "bad" ending, still working on the "good" one....

Spoiler
I still don't know what to do with the blue crystal.  I noticed the slot next to the door by the statue with the glowing eyes, but don't know what to do put in it.  I still don't know how to get in the room with the hole and the army chest.

I think the blue
Spoiler
crystal fits into the hole in that room. But I can't get in there either.

EDIT: Ah, what an idiot I am...
Spoiler
In the control room of the space ship, there is a stone panel you can use. (I know the character talked about it, but I thought he was referring to a panel in the jungle).

I'm stuck in the alien spaceship....

Spoiler
I've gotten as far as picking up the blue crystal, but I don't know how to move the robot off the big plate.  I've tried putting both the cartridges (with the battery) in the alien programator, but nothing happens.  Also, I still can't get past the door in the room with the hole and the army chest, or the door below the statue with the glowing eyes.
[close]

Maybe you have to
Spoiler
try to move the robot by using the blue cartridge on the control panel next to it. Your character will tell you you need to reprogram it first. Then go back to the guarded room and use the battery and the blue cartridge on the programmer to upload the new program. Wait until the upload is complete. Then go back to the robot... In case you find out what to do with the crystal, can you post it here, please?

I'm trying to get the "good ending" and I am stuck here:
What can you do with the blue
Spoiler
crystal? Does it open the door with the statue with the glowing eyes? If so, how? If it doesn't open it, how *do* you open it?  :(

Thanks for your help, MadEvie! At first I thought, "But that's exactly what I've been trying to do for two hours!" - but only then did I realize that you have to right-click the reader instead of trying to point it at hot spots. Stupid me! :-\

I need help on what to do after you get the red metal rod from
Spoiler
the steam chamber. I have used it and the belt to make the pickaxe funcional again, but I can't figure out what to do with it. My task is to power up the necklace...
Can somebody help, please?
