I was just watching X-Play on G4, (don't ask me why), and they reviewed The Moment of Silence.  They gave it a 2 out of 5, then went on to say adventures are dead, and that "daddy left the genre" in reference to Tim Schafer making Psychonauts.

For the record, this IS X-Play we're talking about, a less than credible source.  Especially since they credited Tim Schafer with making Monkey Island.

The way I see it, what's an awards ceremony without at least one drunken fool?  Since nobody else fit the bill, I decided to do the honors.

Wow, that looks pretty good! The only thing that strike me as odd is the flashing circle in the throat, but aside from that it's really scary-looking.

Nice job!

This all reminds me of a terrible joke!

Why can Miss Piggy only count to 68?

Spoiler
Because at 69 she has a frog in her throat!

Not for a while.  I'm taking a vacation from game-making.

Ok, April Fool's is over.  Feel free to lock/delete this thread.

That's what I get for giving you the source for BJ1...

Awesome game, Net.  I really got a kick out of it.  AND you managed to put in some Mittens references. Way to alienate all but 13 people!  ;)

Well, I wanted to keep the style going, so I scripted in a status bar, and even imported the old font.  Wintermute is amazing, it does things AGS was never capable of.

AGS Games in Production / Ben Jordan Case 5
Fri 01/04/2005 02:44:20
That's right! Here's the next case in the series, already well into production.Ã,

This time, Ben returns to Dunesberg accompanied by Simon from Case 4, after getting a call from Annie Roberts.Ã,  It seems her husband has gone looking for the Lost Galleon again, and has been taken by the Wendigo, a desert monster!

Screenshot:

As you can see, I've been experimenting with 3d, and have decided to take the series in a whole new graphical direction.  This also means I'm using the Wintermute engine, but I figured I'd post here to let everyone know.

Look for the game in a few weeks!

General Discussion / Re: Mittens 05

Well, as of right now, Mittens 2005 in Greece or Sweden look like they have a 99.9% chance of being attended by yours truly.

I've said I'd go every year, but 1 out of 3 ain't bad!

Back in high school, I was volunteering at Habitat for Humanity with my friends.  That day we had been assigned to set up sheet rock walls for the house interior.  Right before lunch, my friend and I were kind of goofing around, and somehow I ended up making a rather large hole in the sheet rock with a hammer.

Naturally, we freaked out.  I mean what are the people going to say when they see the volunteers are destroying houses rather than building them?  So, I picked up a board that was on the ground and placed it inconspicuously in front of the hole as a temporary solution.

At that point, we took a break for lunch.  I was scrambling for ideas on how to fix the hole.  We went to a supermarket nearby to get some sandwiches, and I noticed that they were having a promotion from a local radio station, involving a wheel to spin for prizes.  I decided to test my luck and gave the wheel a spin.  I won a free bumper sticker from the radio station.

Suddenly, in true adventure game fashion, I got a brilliant idea.  "We can use the bumper sticker to patch up the hole!"  So we raced back to the construction site, I USED bumper sticker ON hole, and covered it up nicely.  I'm sure someone found out about it later, but it was pretty funny at the time.

I took a stab at it, by changing the "snout" to look more like a zebra.  I also added stripes to the face, which bring out the eyes a little.

That question will be anwered in a future game.

Hints & Tips / Re: Carver Island 2 Help

I have good reason behind my decision to "erase history" as you call it.  These games weren't made with the intention of public release, and they've been available for about 2 years now.  The fact that several characters are based on real people, and that there's a 99.9% I'm never going to finish CI3 are a couple of reasons why I've deleted them.

I hope everyone understands and can respect my decision.

As far as the problem you're having, S. Dunbar, make sure you click the walk icon someplace above the exit sign over the doors.

Your argument isn't totally invalid, but look at what you said:
Quote"OW's current score is higher than the games that got nominated for the 'Best Game' category expect Apprentice II. Just Adventure called it "one of the best, if not the best adventure game of 2004" and "3rd best Independent adventure game ever". "

People obviously liked your game. Ã, Shouldn't you feel good enough about that? Ã, So it didn't get nominated for an AGS Award, it's not the end of the world. Ã, An AGS Award isn't a measurement of your game being better or worse than others, it's just a silly little ceremony we've come to adopt.

Does it feel good to win an AGS Award? Sure it does, but remember it also feels good to have people praise your game. Ã, If that's what you're looking for, you certainly seem to have gotten some pretty high marks already.

Continuing Pesty's exposé on the classic Gameboy/AGS crossovers, here's an in-game screenshot from "Ben Jordan: Moon Mayhem" in which he battles Frankenstein, King of the Moon.

I'm with MrColossal, the best part is seeing the animation and all your ideas coming to life.

Finishing the game is also a great feeling.  Only problem is, I'm usually sick of it by then! And then I don't really feel like playing it since I know what happens.  All that work just to upload and be rid of it.

But at least other people get something to play...

I'm also in the category of "would love to go, but there's no possible way I could go to Australia short of winning the lottery."
