Just curious, you ever considered making a talkie version? If so, Evenwolf and I would be ideal candidates to do all the voices. Trust me on this one.

Yeah, I mean who doesn't dream of earning some cash off of a hobby, something they enjoy doing?

HOWEVER, consider that you'll need to make a pretty professional quality game if you're expecting people to pay for it, and even if they do you probably won't get many people willing to pay more than $15-$20 for it. You'll also have to distribute the game, so taking into account the cost of blank cds, you probably won't make an immense profit.

Not to piss in your cornflakes or anything, but I wouldn't expect to make a lot of money selling an amateur game.

Good luck though!

What? Where did this game come from?  ???

Aren't I supposed to be releasing Carver Island 3 or Granny Zombiekiller or something?

No!

I'm starting up a new game series, and this is the first episode. Join our hero, Ben Jordan, as he sets out on his first case as a freelance paranormal investigator.

You'll all probably find this game very easy, but I promise you they'll get longer and more difficult as the series progresses.

Enjoy!

I think monarchies are a bit outdated, but then again many aspects of other governments are as well. I don't like the whole "we're royalty so we're better" attitude though.

A couple of months ago the Prince of Spain was stopped at Miami International Airport in order to be searched, and he got so mad he threatened to have Iberia Airlines not fly through Miami anymore.

I think that's a bit ridiculous; I mean, if you're a head of state, sure you may have diplomatic immunity, but doesn't it make you an even MORE likely target for terrorism? Of course, this issue is a completely different subject, so I'll leave it at that.

What about if our avatar is animated? Will it be a flipbook nametag?

General Discussion / Re: The CRITICISM thread

I dislike Geoffkhan because he posts twice and is schizophrenic, and because people actually look forward to his games coming out.

Or maybe I'm just jealous.Ã,  :'(

And I dislike LGM because he beats me to posts!

I always wondered how people like me managed their files too...maybe that's why it's taken forever for me to release Carver Island 3.

Anyway, good work.  This will definitely come in handy.

I recently read Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse, which I enjoyed a great deal.Ã,  Then I read After Many a Summer Dies the Swan by Aldous Huxley, which I felt was a short story padded with philosophical banter to make it a novel.Ã,  Not to say it wasn't a good book, but perhaps having just come off of Steppenwolf, my mind was saturated with philosophy and couldn't get the most out of it.

Sounds like Quest for Glory IV, Dr. Cranium's house.

Tried it and still experienced the same problem.  When it switches to AVI there's only music playing.

This time I had it play within the same room, starting with StopMusic, then PlayVideo, then PlayMusic.  It worked fine for the first video, then after the second video the music didn't resume playing, and the first time I spoke to a character the voices repeated.  Oddly enough, the repeating only occurs once.  If I move the main character and look or talk to something ro someone else the voice audio corrects itself.

Voice Acting
I'll be happy to do voice acting for anyone's talkie game.  You can hear me as Toxicman in Fatman, Granny Zombiekiller in Mittens Murder Mystery, as the airport security guard in eVOLVE's demo for The Case, etc.

Feel free to PM me with any acting requests.  I can do a variety of accents and haven't got amazing range, but I can sure as heck try!

Nope, the StopMusic command is in the movie room before playing the AVI.

The voice file repeats, like "Hello, how are you?Hello, how are you?Hello, how are you?Hello, how are you?Hello, how are you?" until you click the mouse to go on to the next line, which also repeats.

Also, sometimes the audio completely dies when coming back from the AVI.  I think I'm going to try playing the AVI in the current room instead of going to another one to see if it makes a difference.

Yes, I'm using the AVI audio.

Say you give a character an item and it triggers an AVI cutscene.  I have it scripted so it goes to room 100, which is the "movie room" and plays the video.  When the video is done it returns to the previous room, where the music will start up again but then cut out, and the voices loop until you click the mouse to skip text.

I'm having a problem.  It seems that when I play an AVI, when it comes back to the game, the music in a room will play for a few seconds then cut out, and speech will repeat itself endlessly.

The way I'm doing it is, I have a "movie room" the game goes to whenever an AVI is played, so when it finishes it goes to another room, which is where the problem begins.

General Discussion / Re:Kill Bill Vol. 2

I saw it last night.  I'll start by saying I really enjoyed Volume 1, despite the fact that it was mostly hacking and slashing and little dialogue or character development.

That said, I REALLY enjoyed Volume 2.  I thought it was a perfect Yang to Volume 1's Yin.  The two halves really are quite different in tone, style, and especially the violence/dialogue ratio.  I won't spoil anything, but I will say that I felt the wait was definitely worth it, and I'm curious as to how the two halves would play out when joined together.

Don't read any of the reviews for the movie.  If you liked Volume 1, you'll probably like Volume 2, as long as you don't go in expecting the same level of gore.  This movie is more suspenseful than violent.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Jump Andail, jump! You can do it! JUMP!!!

Of course, if you CAN'T do it, we'll just get Bud Elkins to do it for you.
