Messages - Grundislav

#1281
Good job, CJ.  Although I must say the fee is a little steep for a poor college student like me, I have registered my copy of AGS.  But hey, it's all worth it for the best game creation engine out there.

All you people complaining, you can just go use AGAST.

Bump!

It's been a while so I might as well provide a progress report on the game.

So far, I'd say it's about 95% complete.

- Of the 5 "parts" to the game, 3 are complete, part 4 is one puzzle away from being done, and part 5 still needs a bit of work.

- The speech.vox file is 241MB at the moment, with over 2000 lines of dialog, but several characters still need to be given a voice.

- Still missing a few musical cues and animations.

- Cutscenes (the most tedious part since I'm doing them in Flash) are about 50% done.

So, I'll try my best to get my ass in gear and finish this monster soon.  This is indeed probably going to be Grundislav's magnum opus.

I'm getting this message when I try to rebuild the vox files.  It probably has to do with the fact that I have almost 2000 voice files for speech.vox.  Call me ambitious I guess.

CJ, is there any way you can expand the amount of files speech.vox can hold for the next AGS release?

We're pretty much all set.  I think the only thing we're uncertain about is what to do in Montreal, but I'm sure we'll find something.
#1285
So on Friday I'm going on a roadtrip with my friends up North.  We'll be heading to Montreal, spending 2 days there, then driving down to NYC where we'll be 3 days, then continue south.

My point is, it'd be swell if I could get a picture with the AGSers in the areas.  Rode will probably be easier to find, but I'll see if I can get us to stopover in Schenectady.

RSVP!

Is it just me, or has there been a morbidly high amount of talk lately about CJ dying?  I'd watch my back if I were you, Chris...someone might be dropping not-so-subtle hints.

HA! I got it yesterday! I clicked on this topic because the name sounded so familiar to me, yet I couldn't place why...

I found it amusing that he was educated at the University of Florida, where I currently attend.

I have an idea.  If he was born in 1998, it obviously means he's currently 5 years old.  Mills and I can hunt this kid down...if there happens to be a 5 year old John whatever, we can kill him and see if the internet posts disappear.

Fun experiment.

Backtracking a bit, about Torin's Passage:

My friend and I wrote a story for a sequel called "Torin's Dictatorship" in which Torin finds out his parents were actually tyranical rulers, so he sets out on a quest to take over all the worlds.  We tied up a bunch of loose ends and offered several explanations, like "why can't Torin get in Crystal City?" and "why didn't Leena look like anyone else on Escarpa?"

Sadly, all the other AGS projects took over, but maybe someday I'll make it.  We even sent the idea to Al Lowe, and he liked it.

What the heck is THE ENEMY GAME?  Can I plays too?  I PLAYS LOVEY LOVE GAME! No, really!

Howzabout the ol' trial and error puzzle?

I'm specifically thinking of a puzzle in "Runaway" in which you have to figure out a code of musical notes.  Just by trial and error you have to figure out the correct sequence of notes by identifying 5 notes and what order they go in.

It's a real time-waster, and it's pretty frustrating, but I guess it could be considered clever.  I personally found it annoying.

It's a good idea, but really, I think only a few of those features need to be explained.  If the person is computer savvy enough to play an adventure game, I think they'll know what "run in window instead of fullscreen" means.

I suggest explaining just the 85hz display, alternate letterbox resolution, and the advanced features.  I think the rest are easy enough to figure out.

Nope, never played SWG, but I did play this other really fun game.  It was called "Reply to the idiotically pointless thread!" And guess what? I won!

Or perhaps we all lost...

A fan! Wow!  :P

Yeah, don't worry, CI3 is in production, and quite close to being finished.  I'm gonna do my best to finish up all the art over the break so I can finish the game when I get back up to university.  You'll definitely see it soon.

In case you missed it, I posted this a while back:

Hey now, what's all this talking about Grundislav behind his back?  :P

I only saw Kill Bill once, I enjoyed it, but I didn't go around touting it as the best thing since sliced bread.

And don't judge me based on the movies I like!  ;D
