I must also admit.  I am blowie.

Although I think we created this account on AGA's computer.

I think Esseb took the majority of the photos, as well as Dirk, but he and Christina were taking an extra week of vacation after Mittens so they probably aren't back yet. As for Esseb, he is the one hiding all the juicy Mittens secrets!

Hooray Mittens!  A slight change of pace this year, but a great one nonetheless.  Good seeing all the old faces and meeting the new ones.  I return home with a very pronounced California tan and jet lag.  Oh well, back to work.  See you next year!

I'm waiting to board my flight. See you all soon!

Any initial reports from those already there?

I've got no problem taking Snarky, but 3.5 hours at an airport is a long time to wait.  Dave and Ken will both have cars and both have arrived by the time both Dirk, Christina, and Gunnar get in, so I guess one could go to each airport?

No movies this year!  I haven't even done much with last year's.

I think we should be okay for stuff to bring, although Swiss chocolate would be appreciated ;)

Ah, right.  I forgot about that.  The ticket says dress code is "nice casual," as though you were going on a movie date.  I assume that just means no tank tops and shorts with flip flops.

Also, the house website says towels and linens are included, so pretty much just bring your clothes.

L.A. is not a walking city, we will be driving everywhere, but I don't think serious leather shoes are a must unless you want to go someplace fancy.  If you want to bring them along, fine, but if not I wouldn't say they are a necessity.  I myself am only bringing one pair of Vans and some sandals.

Try setting your color depth to 16 bit, that should help.

First, in case anyone needs it, here's a mirror.

Second, the series is amazing and this game did a lot to provide closure to most of issues that had been introduced.  The mirror image of Arthur's adventure vs. Ben's was also fun both in the parallels and the contrasts.  I actually tried all of the endings and heard all of the commentary - few games are so interesting that I bother with that.  Also, I loved the action puzzles: "guy with gun at door" and the "car chase scene".

Next, a series finale is always tough.  Simply put you have to get everything right for all the fans (assuming you want to) because you don't get another chance.  If some of us think Land of the Rising Dead is lacking something, it doesn't matter because another game will be coming up.  Some of us will criticize.  Some of us will praise.  All of us have been impressed by the work put into this series.

The Ben Jordan series stuck with the fans.   It gave us something to ponder and puzzle.  Characters for us to love and hate.  We chewed up obscure riddles just to guess the name of one case.  We speculated about the traitor in the midst.  We lined up to offer our services.  Francisco took eight years to produce the series and didn't abandon it.

Thank you and congratulations.

This is probably the most touching message I've gotten.  Thank you very much for the support and praise, and I'm glad you've gotten enjoyment out of the series.

Nothing super notable, just a couple of visual fixes as well as corrections to a couple of typos I thought I had fixed.
Spoiler
- The recordkeeper in the text said Ruxandra Korzha was born in 1831, but the voice says 1812, which is correct.
- The crowd noise continued on during the end credits.
- Fixed a bug where game would crash if you asked Percy questions while being attacked by the Headless Vampire.

If you were just trying to download it now, I was re-uploading a fixed version.  Should work fine now.

Oh look, another episode (kind of sort of!)

We'll be back to normal posting schedule and content next week!

The podcast will return (sort of) this week!

One of the reasons I included 4 endings was so each player could choose which ending they liked best. So basically, the canonical ending is whichever one you like best!

General Discussion / Re: Taking criticism...
Mon 13/08/2012 01:38:25
I appreciate criticism, but would also find myself feeling upset when I would read negative things about my games.  However, I've tried to turn this around and think about it this way: universal acclaim is impossible, there's always going to be someone who doesn't like what you do.  So rather than get upset or offended by someone's criticism, use it as a positive, let it keep you grounded and realize that no matter what you do, nobody is always 100% going to love your stuff.  That fact really helps keep egos in check, and it also helps you realize that you don't need to kill yourself to please everyone.  Just make something you're happy with, and hopefully other people will be happy with it too!

Hints & Tips / Re: Ben Jordan Case 8
Wed 08/08/2012 20:57:22
Glad everyone is enjoying the game so far (I hope!)

As far as the endings, there are 4 depending on 2 variables:
Spoiler
1. Whether or not you kill Genovese
2. Whether or not you follow Alice into the crypt.

There is also the secret ending, and thepr is on the right track for that one...

I know, it would have been great to release on 8/8/08, but considering Case 7 was released on 8/13/08 that might have been tricky to pull off...
