Well, did any of you read Terry Pratchett's 'Time Thief' (or whatever the English name is, that's what you get if you translate the German one back to English)? Time gets stopped there; it only keeps running for certain - at least partially supernatural - entities (e.g. Death's granddaughter) and those who carry "their own time" with them around, stored in a complex machine. If that machine stops running (you can wind it up again), the person instantly freezes. Also, everything in the world freezes in time, for example, the shards of a window that was just broken float in the air. The continue to move again if they're touched by a supernatural entity or someone with a running "time storing device", but as soon as they leave that person's body (ouchie), they freeze again.

in english it was 'The Thief Of Time'.
so nearly right.  ;)

two posts and nobody's mentioned alternative rock yet?
:o

YOU BORING PEOPLE!

Hey,Ã,  that's right. Come to think of it, Alternative DID become huge. Bands like Green Day and R.E.M were still popular.

not to mention all the grungers, shoegazers, indie bands and (some) experimental bands too.

Well, a cool new genre idea would be film games. I think potentially cool movie games would be potential point-'n'-click games. We've already seen Saw turned into a game, why stop there? What about classic films like Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?? I think, put in the right contexts, these games could make one hell of a great genre. :)

yeah some seriously phenomenal ideas there.

there was this door but it was locked so i PICKED UP the key and then I USED IT on the door and then I gave a sort of narrative about random items that I found when LOOKING AT them. I also PICKED UP everything that wasn't nailed down, but I got arrested and instead of pleading innocence, I outsmarted the guard using a paperclip and the small bowl that was used as a toilet. On my way out there was a guard dog that I distracted by USING the ham that I had found on the table in the prison and I left the area and went home.

why do you love licensed products so much?
wouldn't it be better if it had ELEMENTS of those shows, but with your own original sort of storyline?

General Discussion / Re: Tragic Stories

my story begins here.
there was once this guy, nice guy, worked at the bowling alley just opposite the petrol station where Old 'Four-toes' Macintosh was murderered... of course, that's a different story. Anyway, this guy I knew was once just walking through the bowling alley, and he had just organised something for his wife, since it was their anniversary.
Anyway, on his way out after a long day's work, he saw a little boy.
He helped this homeless orphan to a shelter but it turned out that the young lad was part of a gang of murderous thieves. The thieves killed my old friend and the body weren't found for another six months.
The wife thought he'd ran away with another woman so she committed suicide.
Thing is, at the very same time that all this was happening, I found an M&M on the bus seat and I was like: "Yeah! I'm gonna eat this!"

But it was peanut.
Oh yes... it was peanut.

That was the Tragic Tale Of The Bad M&M (With Some Introductory Filler To Get Us All In The Mood)

Low-budget as in "freeware"?

Larry Vales vs. Alexander Zale!
Larry wins, because he got sideburns. I don't know how, but HE GOT SIDEBURNS! TWO OF THEM!

low budget as in without the expected perks like PAINT IMAGEZ!

Zortherus. vs. The Tall Man.

Sounds like a lo-budget AGS game.

It's all subjective, but the ones that have been with me for a long while, I've listened to most, and probably enjoy more than any other:

Pixies - Surfer Rosa / Come on Pilgrim
Pixies - Doolittle
Frank Black - Teenager of the Year
Radiohead - The Bends
Radiohead - OK Computer
Crash Test Dummies - God Shuffled His Feet
Gorillaz - Gorillaz
Oasis - What's the Story, Morning Glory

There ya go :)

shake my hand ye two.

speaking of experimental and the like, is the new Beck album any good?
#278
well, new green day isn't rock.

but krautrock is a form of experimental rock (which i suppose is allowed?), with bands like Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream and Can, all of whom influenced the more commercialised electronic music of the 1980's (depeche mode and the like).

i like my experimental.Ã,  :)

the whole of radiohead's amnesiac album is good alt.rock incorporating elements of ambient and jazz
