Hi guys,

It's been a long time since I've posted in this forum last. After getting a job in a professional game studio and getting a family making adventure games in my spare time has been pretty down-prioritized.
I hope everyone is good...

Anyway, the last year or so I've been working with a couple of guys on an adventure/platform game called CHRONOLOGY - I'm game director and music composer. The game is not done in AGS but since it's both an adventure game and developing games in AGS (incl. using this forum) has been the best education I could get for what I do for a living now, I thought that I wanted to show you my game anyway.

We're currently trying to get our game greenlighted through Steam (here you can also see a video and screens):
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=205091899
I'd be grateful for a thumbs up in Steam Greenlight but also just be interested in knowing what you guys think about how the game looks.
The game is still in development so all feedback welcome!

Hope you like what you see.

All the best,
Niels

Brief introduction to the game:
We've tried to combine mechanics from a few of my favorite games: Day of the Tentacle, Braid and Lost Vikings.
You must solve puzzles as an Inventor who is able to travel between the past and the future - so many of the puzzle revolves around manipulating the past to change the future. The Inventor teams up with a snail who is able to climb on walls and stop time. The two sets out on a journey through a steampunky world inspired by Studio Ghibli and the works of Shaun Tan.

Here's my new spite step by step. I'm trying to develop some sort of technique so please criticize everything...

Basic colors

Hello

I'm currently working in a company that makes games for mobile phones and we're thinking about making an adventure game. The cool thing about this is that it would actually be possible to make a game that graphicly resembles the old adventure games and still being the state of the art on its medium.

There is still two mayor issuses:
1. There is no mouse meaning that point 'n' click will be an unatractive control method
(Maybe this could be solved by making hotspots that are made interactive when the player character is moved close to them)
2. There's not a lot memory for graphics
(Maybe this could be solved by reclycling graphics for example by making the game universe consist of almost simular rooms)

What are your thoughts on this?
And would even consider playing an adventure game on your mobile phone?

Thanks...

Yo yo
It has been quite a while since I last posted in the Critics Lounge. I've been really busy.
Well, I've just finished the cover for an EP I'm doing. The music on it pretty crazy combined with spoken words in Danish.

Any comments on it before I sent it to print?

The cover - front and back

The print on the cd...

I hope none of this is too offensive for anyone...
Cheers!

Hello there
In Denmark where I live it has been an actionpacked weekend. Some parts of Copenhagen was almost turned into a warzone because of demonstrations and riots after the police emptied a youth house.
Because of this the controvesial topic of this tune contest will be:
RIOT MUSIC!
You decide if you want make a riot-anthem or tribute to the police or whatever as long as the tune fits the theme...
Good luck and I'll see you at the barricades!

Oi oi!

This time the topic will be: 60's POP!
I want you guys and girls to make a catchy 60's pop tune. If you want to make a smooth vocal arrangement like the Beach Boys or a more rocking song like the Who is up to you as long as it sounds like the 60's.
So pick up your guitar, your hash pipe and your Beatles hair and start rocking...

[EDIT]
Here's the trophies:

The golden bong (for the winner)

The Silver bong

And the bronze bong

Cheers!

Hello
I've just started using AGS 2.71 and I must say it has improved a lot since the last one I installed (2.61 I think). I especially like the new scripting style.
Well, one thing that still bugs me is the graphical part of the Room Editor. I'm currently working with 640x480 screen resolution and I find it really hard to place object because the screen where I can place the object only is half the size. So what I am suggesting is that the screen where you place the objects matches the game resolution or if that's not possible then maybe a zoom function. I would also be extremely nice to be able to move the objects around with the arrow-keys like you can in for example Photoshop.
That way it would be much easier to place the object right where you want it be with out having to test the game again until you find the exact location.
I hope this helps and thanks for an awsome game editor!

Hello

Since I am on tour with my band at the moment I haven't had that much time online.
But today I have so I thought that I would start a new tune contest myself.

When I get home I want to hear some rock n roll tunes, so this weeks tune contest will be ROCK N ROLL!

The rules are simple:
Make a rock n roll tune that can't be any longer than 2 mins!

Go Johnny, go go go!

Fri 16/06/2006 10:04:38
Hi

I've just finished this rock/hiphop/whatever beat and now it would be nice with some crits on it.
Later on I might make it a little longer and add some vocals...

The song can be found here:

(You might need to right click and choose Save as...)

Get ready to party

Critics' Lounge / tour shirt layout
Mon 29/05/2006 23:09:44
Hi

My band is going on a summertour across Europe in about a month and therefore we need a shirt we can sell along the way.
The shirt is going to be black and we can only press in one colour, so that's why the lay out is a little dull.

This is the back of the shirt...

Any surgestions how to make it better?

This time the theme will be:
Evil Villian theme

Your task is to make either
- A theme that is played when ever the villian is on the screen (like seen in the movie The good the bad and the ugly)
- Or a theme played inside the villians head quarter or where where ever your villian is being an evil doer.

For your inspiration, here a few ideas:
- The crazy theme of a mad professor who wants to take over the world and turn all humans into dancing shrimps.
- The dark and gloomy tune played when the player character enters the flesh eating dragon's cave in the Dark Mountains.
- The romantic love theme that all of a sudden turns into a futuristic death march, when two lovers in a car become the first to people to die by the hands deadly cyborg sent back in time to kill Arnold Schwarzenegger (If you consider that evil ofcause).

So what I want to hear is basically something really evil.
Remember to tell what kind of villian and situation your tune is ment for. Creativity is rewarded.

I'm looking forward to hearing your entries. Especially after the last contest.
Have fun!

EDIT: See last reply for newest update...

Hi

I've just finished these two backgrounds and now I want to hear for you think I can do to improve them.
Both backgrounds are located in the Dark Mountains which are a place where there is a lot of evil things going on.

Here I really have problems with the door.

The back space in the bottom in for the gui.

EDIT: I've changed the headline because a lot of people seems to be posting their backgrounds right now...
Thanks

Olé everybody!

I've just made this small shooter game called Operation Novi 2D.
The game was originally made for a small exhibition on my university where it ended up as the main attraction.

You are Heroman. Sent by the president to stop an university experiment that has gone wrong. This includes killing a lot of brain eating clones and a few actual university teachers...

The game is made in AGS so I thought I would share it with you.
It works alot like my very first game made with AGS Mafioso Overkill if anyone of you remember that. If you don't the game is all about shooting everything that moves.
I hope you like it....

Screenshot...

The game features:
4 different levels that can be played on 3 different difficulties.
Photorealistic backgrounds.
Cutscenes with lots of attitude.
Bad music
16 bit colour
640/480 pixels
Lots of fun for the entire familly...

The game can be downloaded from here:

Please let me know what you think of it...

I know this have been asked before but it seems the page has been changed since then because the surgested solutions from then didn't work.

I want to add my game to this page but the page keep telling me that I need to log on to the forum.
I have added three games before so it doesn't really make any sense.
Please help me out here...

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / Review thread?
Thu 17/11/2005 13:11:15
Hello everybody!

I'm going to start this off with a quote from Krazy:
Quote from: Krazy on Wed 08/06/2005 11:36:31
I know after spending weeks, months or even years working on a game it's always good to get feedback. But I know most feedback you get from posting your game in the forum or on the AGS site is either "Cool game but such and such could be better." or asking for hints, and sure that's fine people don't tend to write particularly long comments about your game in a forum or comennt system.Ã,  But I also know that the mose satisfying feedback you can ever get on a game is a detailed review higlighting the good and bad points of your game, telling what you did right, what aspects were the best etc and an overall rating (sometimes sub ratings of all the different aspects of the game e.g graphics, story etc).

Now, my idea is that we make a review threat where your moltivation for writing a review is that your game will be reviewed next. Due to this "reward" I think people would actually make a review (I know I would).
Example: I write a review of some game. The next person in line writes a review of one of my games. The next person will then have to write a review of one of the last person's games. And so on...
This way you might get get introduced to some long forgotten game and play (and enjoy) a game you wouldn't have given a chance in the first palce. Plus you get a review of your own game...

What do you think about this idea?
Any surgestions how to make improve the idea?
If you are willing to follow up up I won't mind starting...

Your pal
Niels

P.s. I hope I'm making myself clear...

Advanced Technical Forum / hi-score problem
Fri 11/11/2005 13:39:00
Hello there
Right now I'm making a small shooter game in AGS.
I would like to create a hi-score list but I'm not really sure how.
I've seen this:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=14724.0
But I would like to make it like an old arcade machine where you can type in your name and watch the ten best scores.

Any surgestions?

Thanks...
