General Discussion / Re: V for Vendetta
Thu 23/03/2006 23:44:46
I'm going to watch it and I hope it's good.
I must say that Sin City is the only comic-movie I've really enjoyed so far and I find find it hard to believe that the Matrix-brothers will ever top that. But then again, less could still do it for me...

Hi.
Here's the entrence to the evil dragon's cave or something like that:

It's going to be used in my upcomming game Silent Knight 3. If I ever manage to finish it...

Hello there

Here's my entry:

http://www.5feetunder.com/game/sadhiphop.mp3
(right click and choose Save As...)

I'm not sure it ended up being that sad, but I like the mood in it.
It's a little hip hopish. It even got some scratching.
The tune also contains a sample taken from the Hardcore band Rifu. I just thought I would give them a little credit because they rock!

I hope you like it. Enjoy!

Wow, that was wierd...

I was just joking about entering in a couple of weeks.
But I actually don't think I'll find time to entering anyway because I'm moving into a new appartment at the moment plus all my recording stuff is in my band's practice room because we're recording a demo record.

But I think it would be cool to do a metal remix of the given track. It's filled with Man O War felling... If anyone wants to borrow my idea feel free to do so because i would still love to hear it done...

Hi.

I'll join this comp in a  couple of weeks. Or maybe just days...
I haven't been able to open the file before today because my internet connection has been gone...
Your tune is actually quite good and I hope to hear some entries soon...

Cheers

Ok, the moment that everyone has been waiting for since the 3rd (especially me since this post means that I have my internet back):

The end of this contest!

Eggie - Wierd and funny track. I really like it. I don't know what else to write.

Nikolas - Whoah, that is actually pretty scary. Reminds me of Silence of the Lambs for some reason. It is a little short though... Just like a stab in the back!

Blodvarg - Yeah, that's what I talking about. Evil stuff and great compositions. I especially like like the lair-tune. It really have a nice mood to it.
If I must put a finger on your tunes, I think the first one sound a little too midi but maybe that's just because of the cybals.

Haddas - Really nice ambient. I like the drum beat and the breaks. I'm not sure I find it that evil-sounding, IMO it has a more futuristic ring to it.

Theatrx - Your S1 tune is a very good evil theme. At the same time it has something really adventure gamish to it. In S2 I find it a little hard to hear when your villian is good and evil. But the track still have a very nice feeling to it. I actually dig the happy parts the most.

Voh - Nice to hear some real guitar. Too bad that you didn't have a real band and a better production. The song would really do well as an end-level-boss song. Especially the riff you play before starting on the power chords. If you add some vocals you've got your self a nice rock tune.

Dkh - Great istrumentation and composition. It's really evil. The strings and the screams really set the mood. Action packed!

And now to the winner...

...

Blodvarg and his amazing lair tune!

With Dkh and Theatrx right behind him...

Let me end this by saying that all the tunes are great and that it was very nice to hear so many different interpertations of this theme.
I hope to hear another one from all of you at the next tune contest.

Word!

Hi.
My internet at home is down at the moment so I'm writing this messsage from a computer at school.
Because of my striking internet it might take a day or two before I can decide who'll be the lucky winner. Ofcause that also gives anyone who hasn't entered this contest yet to give it a go!
Sorry about that...

Nice to see all the replies so far. I'm really looking forward to listen to the tunes.

Nikolas - I guess it's to late to tell you this, but you are allowed to use a tune from the OROW.

cheers

This time the theme will be:
Evil Villian theme

Your task is to make either
- A theme that is played when ever the villian is on the screen (like seen in the movie The good the bad and the ugly)
- Or a theme played inside the villians head quarter or where where ever your villian is being an evil doer.

For your inspiration, here a few ideas:
- The crazy theme of a mad professor who wants to take over the world and turn all humans into dancing shrimps.
- The dark and gloomy tune played when the player character enters the flesh eating dragon's cave in the Dark Mountains.
- The romantic love theme that all of a sudden turns into a futuristic death march, when two lovers in a car become the first to people to die by the hands deadly cyborg sent back in time to kill Arnold Schwarzenegger (If you consider that evil ofcause).

So what I want to hear is basically something really evil.
Remember to tell what kind of villian and situation your tune is ment for. Creativity is rewarded.

I'm looking forward to hearing your entries. Especially after the last contest.
Have fun!

Thanks a lot for all your nice words.
I also thought that all the songs where very great and I'm not really sure that I deserve to win this one. But you won't hear me complain.

I'll start a new contest very soon...

Hi

I hope I'm not to late to enter this competition.

http://www.5feetunder.com/game/Hail_to_my_Long_John.mp3
I guess this is supposed to be the main theme of the game, since it doesn't loop that well.

I'm pretty happy with the result, especially because I made and recorded this in less than two hours.
I hope you like it.

I'm looking foward to see the next comp.
I would also like to enter if I can find the time. I'm a bit busy the next couple of days/weeks. I really enjoyed playing along in the first round...

Though I don't really like to promote my self a whole lot, it would be pretty cool to win an AGS award. So here goes:

Silent Knight: Chapter 2 - The Conscience of the King

Based on peoples response on the game I would like to have it nominated for:
Best Story - While the main quest of this game is classical for an adventure game. This second chapter is where story really starts to unfold and it literally takes the player to Hell and back. Plus it contains lots of references to everything from Star Trek to Star Wars...
Best Puzzles - A lot of people liked them.
Best Character Art - They are unique and I personally find it one of the best things about the game.
And ofcause Best Game but I'm not sure it stand a chance.

I would also like to nominate

Operation Novi 2D

for Best Non-adventure

Cheers

Hi
Great topic for a music contest. I wonder why that haven't been done before (as far as I know anyway).

by InCreator

And here's the song:
http://www.5feetunder.com/game/house.mp3

It's ment for looping so the ending is a little sudden.
I hope you like it...

From looking at his t-shirt my guess would be that they play metal...

Oh and your drums are nice...
#116
Sorry for double posting but I've edited my backgrounds again...

I've edited this picture a little:

Here the backgrounds are with a red sky.

I can't really figure out if that is for the better. What do you guys think??

This game really rocks.
The first thime I saw this game was on a Danish digital art festival called that MINE that I went to as a small trip with my University. The hole festival was located inside a huge mine. Among other things this festival also had a plant that could play music when you touched it. the palnt also controlled the lightning of the room. Really cool!
The first game was also really great. There's something really organic and trippy about them.

Thanks. I'm glad you like it.

Guybrush - I think you might be right about the orc head. I'll change it later.

Fovmester - The sky actually goes from dark blue to a little less dark blue, but maybe I should make it less dark so the blue would become more obvious. I'll work with the red, but I'm not sure it'll work with the rest of the colours.

Mordalles - Silent Knight is on the way but school is taking quite a lot of my time at the moment so it is going to take a while. I want this last chapter to be really good.
What do you mean by helping with the door? I would to hear your surgestions...

i think it's true that Simpson is getting quite dull.

I agree that South Park is funnier than ever before.
The political under and overtones really suits the show. I like the way the show pisses on both left and right.

I don't think that the animation is dying. I just think it's changing and new shows are taking over.

Have anyone seen the show Robot Chicken? It's one of the funniest shows I have seen in a very long time. It really hit the stupidity of television right on the spot plus it got all the actionfigures I played with when I was a kid.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Backgrounds for C&C

Hello again and thanks for all the great critic.
I've tried to follow the things you've said:

Changed the colours to make tehm blend better. But I'm not an expert in colour so I'm not sure it turned out that good. (Does anyone has an easy way the make the colours blend in Photoshop? Please help me!)
Made the rocks a little darker.

I also changed the the colours here.
Fixed the perspective.

EDIT: I've just added a screenshot so you can see the doors and the player character. Maybe I'll add a region to make him a little darker and fitting to the background:
