Your background is very good. It really got a DOTT kind of feeling to it.
With Proskrito's light it is even better....
It's a little dark though, but maybe that's just my monitor...

First of all: these pieces are really good!
Really proffesional use of Reason. And they really would set a great mood for a RPG.

THe only thing I can find to crit are the drums on Ocean of Sand.
They sound a little too midi and that ruins the mood a little...

keep up the good work...

Hello again

This is really getting out of hand!
It's really hard to pick a winner here because of the diversity of the tracks, but one thing is sure - they would properbly all ruin every single chance to get laid if you played them on a romantic evening!
Well, there's only one way to find out...

I got to say that it has been a very close run!

TikiTikiMan - Reallly freaky midi sounds. Pretty good and funny for your first mid. I especially enjoyed the ending! Really funny!

Modgeulator - Just plain fucked up. Really great use of samples! Really prof.

Fuzzpilz - I never really been a great fan of noize and this sertanly (bad spelling I guess) didn't make it any better. I know some friends who dig this kind of music and I'm pretty sure they would love your piece also though you didn'it intent to make something good sounding (I can't tell if you did). This music would not only ruin a romantic scene it would proberbly ruin anything. Ok, it would fit movies like Irrévisble...

Ghormak - This rocks. I find your music really great. This piano piece is really funny and would give a love scene the perfect bizzare twist to ruin it completely!

Ras_maxim - I'm sorry but your song simply takes way to long to download. I've allready been waiting forever (maybe a little less) and it still over 40 minuttes to go... If you upload the music somewhere else I would love to hear it!

And now ladies and gentlemen the winner is....

GHORMAK!

Really great entries!
Well, at least for their purpose...

Does anyone else want to join the party before the winner is picked?
#265
I just found out that I won by default and I must admit I did not deserve that.
Last time I lost by technical K.O. so I guess that evens the score...

The next music compertition is a little related to the previous one (porn music).
A while ago I saw the love scene in Titanic (one of the worst movies I ever saw by the way) and the music in that scene is so romantic that it almost makes you throw up, but it must have touched some peoples hearts because the movie was a huge blockbuster and won some Oscars as well.
Well, the point being I want you to make that piece ofÃ,

MUSIC THAT WOULD RUIN EVEN THE MOST ROMANTIC LOVE SCENE!

My own surgestions would be some extreme Death Metal or some really whacked circus music. You decide...

I get the idea of where you are trying to get.
I would add shaddows to get depth.
Also try changing  the hadle. Make it more round and maybe move it up a bit so the entire handle is visible it would make it easyer to recognize...
#267
Very good!

I agree with Haddas on the echo. Reverb may do the trick as well.
You could also try adding some cybals and hi-hat...

If you speeded the intro up it would be Metal...
The song has a great mood to it and I think it would be great intro music!

Critics' Lounge / Fantasy intro
Sun 18/07/2004 17:13:22
Hello.

I've just finished the intro to my upcomming medievil/fantasy/something else game.
Now I would like some C&C on it.
Comment on anything you find interesting, the spelling, animation ect...

You can find it in the bottom of the first post here:

Hi!
After working on my first adventure game for a couple of days I've finally finished the intro...
I've finished the storyline and puzzles ect. for the first chapter...

The game is called SILENT KNIGHT and it takes place in my very own fantasy world in the kingdom of Calithulhu.
You control a Knight from the kingdom of Carté Dor who recieves a death sentence in Calithulhu and the story unfolds from here...
Sounds stupid? Well I guess it is...

The game is so far
16 bit colour
640/480 pixels
And it has a modified Monkey Island interface

A screenshot.
(notice the mirror effect. It took forever to make)

Check the intro out here:
www.5feetunder.com/game/SilentKnightDemo.exe
I would love some comments on it...

I'll add more to this post as develop the game further...

I don't know...
It reminds me of the pornmusic I've heard. Especially the german kind.
While listening, imagine some fat and hairy guy saying:
"Geile drecksau, du bist in ein käfe gehören! Ich bin der könig von geilheit!"
sorry about thte spelling my german is not that good...
Well, maybe I should just start paying more attention to the soundtrack.

I like this compertition...

Here's my contribution:

Hi

I've been away for a while, but now I'm back.
I see that during of my absence I've lost the last tune contest on technical K.O.

Well, I saw this contest just in time and made this piece of music very fast...

http://www.5feetunder.com/game/future.mp3

That's what you guys get for your lack of patience!!!

Your pal
Niels

ps. Eric; Your drawing rocks!
#273
Thanks...
I guess I'm supposed to start the next contest or what???

I'm about to go to go to the Roskilde Frestival (music festival), so it won't be before some where in the next week or two...

cheers!

Thanks guys.

The moon definetly going behind all the clouds. Bummer!

I'm not sure I'll use the brick idea, it's going to take forever...

The bridge is also going change.

Mr. C: I couldn't your tutorial with the cloud that you are talking about. It actually took me a long time figure out how to make these clouds.
You surgest that I should change the shading of moon. i don't understand that since I ripped the moon ofÃ, from one of your tutorials.
Look closer - There's stars in the sky...

Thanks again...
#275
This is really good.
The style is very unique due to the hand drawn lines!
But I also think you should get rid of the gradiant. Some hand drawn clouds would be nice...
If you can fit this style to your characters ypur game is going to look very good...

Critics' Lounge / Backgrounds (fantasy style)
Tue 22/06/2004 20:15:45
Hi.

I've just finished two backgrounds and I would like some c&c on 'em!
They are supposed to fit into some sort of fantasy world. Like Lord of the Rings on drugs.

Here the opening scene. It's supposed to work like a scroll down sceen. That's the reason for the long size...

This one is inside a prison system in the very beginning of the game...

thanks

Thanks for the fast reply!

The game crashes everytime I call any of the GUIs. (by pressing SPACEBAR,F8, etc.)

I tried a couple of things and I have figured out that the game crash every time I call a GUI set to PopUp Modal!

Here's the entire script for on_key:

/**/function on_key_press(int keycode) {///////////////////////////////////////On Key Press/////////////////On Key Press
/**/Ã,  // called when a key is pressed. keycode holds the key's ASCII code
Ã,  if (keycode==32){// SPACEBAR

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  else{
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã, GUIOff(PAUSED);
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã, EnableInterface();
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  }
Ã,  Ã,  }
Ã,  if (IsGUIOn(CONFIRMEXIT)==1){ // if exit gui is on
Ã,  Ã,  Ã, if (keycode == 78) GUIOff(CONFIRMEXIT);//if N is pressed continue
Ã,  Ã,  Ã, if (keycode == 89) QuitGame(0);//if Y is pressed quit game
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  }

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  }
Ã,  if (IsGamePaused() == 1) keycode=0;Ã,  // game paused, so don't react to keypresses
Ã,  if (keycode==359) Display("Adventure Game Studio v2 run-time engine[[Copyright (c) 1999-2003 Chris Jones[[SCUMM template by Proskrito :)");// F1

He-man, what do you use to make your music? also your "Under construction" sign is kinda... weird. But that's the way a-ha, a-ha I like it a-ha, a-ha. Eric. Yours is nice too.

thanks I guess...

I use Reason 2.5 for sampling, loops, synth and blah blah. I record vocals and instruments in Cubase SX with my ADK GC-2 mic. Everything with a lot of karma from my powerful super brain...

Advanced Technical Forum / Illegal exception
Mon 21/06/2004 01:53:37
Hi I was just testing my game.
I'm using a monkey Island II template. Everytime I press the F5 key to get the save/load menu AGS gives me this message:

---------------------------
Illegal exception
---------------------------
An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x0041DF0A ; program pointer is +333, ACI version 2.60.698, gtags (2,11)

AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what you were doing at the time and notify CJ on the Tech forum.

I'm pretty new to AGS but I guess I'd better do what the message say, so here you are...
