pixel art is about limited palettes. if you don't care how many colours you're using, chances are, you don't need 'dedicated' pixel art software. You're just taking it easy, which is totally fine, but doesn't call for anything of pro motion caliber.

Darth, I'm not kidding. I'm half-joking about the colour replacement, which is stupid in PS still. You can't even see the indexed palette for christ's sake and select colours from there. in psp there's an actual COLOUR REPLACER tool. come on, scotch, tell me how I can replace 50% dither of that colour with this other colour while doing brushwork. Not all instances of colour a, but while drawing with patterns.

I use pro motion too. Progz finds the interface easy to use but it's because he knew dpaint and pm is a clone of that. Otherwise it's quite confusing for a newbie. Best place to start is Graphics Gale. PSP is good too. Unless you're really serious about pixel art, you'll never have to go to pro motion. Ggale is even better for animating that pro motion is because it has layers ( but pmotion has animbrushes! woo ). New version of pro motion will have layers too though so neat. Avoid photoshop for pixelling regardless of what eric says. He can't change all the pixels of x colour with y colour in just a few clicks, can he? If you need just one generic art program for non-professionals, PSP. one program just for pixel art but not really serious, graphics gale. One program for all your pixel art needs and ambitions: pro motion.

I for one desire some games to be short and to the point. Endless quest rpgs are rarely engaging at all. The mechanics become apparent or even blatant.

I'd do a sequel to captain blood ( commander blood doesn't count ). It'd be like Noctis, only with a loose storyline, occasional space combat and a lot of procedural content. The space language stays, of course.

Then the exile-clone or sequel. but that's not fantasy. It will happen.

just noticed the POWER button is in the worst place possible if you use it like a nes controller. Hope you can disable it or something.

Just for the record, I stopped buying consoles back after the genesis, not a Playstation child at all, but this is the only new console I'm considering buying.

right now you've got a lit tilemap thing going for you. Since ags doesn't currently support tiled artwork without much trickery or a gui of some sort, I assume you're assembling these in some paint program and importing them as backgrounds. That's really wasteful as far as space goes, so if I were you I'd customize every screen so it's more distinct and doesn't look like a collection of tiles. Think Dreamweb or something of the kind. fake the 'overhead rpg' thing, but also make the backgrounds look like adventure game backgrounds.

The lights were a step in the right direction. Draw debris on the floor, chains hanging, pieces of metal and rocks, moss, a skeleton or two...

don't mind the font at all.

what vince said, more or less. New ways to interact with games is a big deal. Not only for immersion, but for different gameplay devices. A computer game is a simulation of a conflict of some kind. Besides that, the way the interaction with the game world and the goal tackling can be handled calls for innovation. Not just for fishing games and frying pan games.  Think a deep space 3d game where the manouvering of the ship is relative to the 3d pointer plus depth... quite an unreal experience I'd expect. think

Only problem, I think this is going to break a whole lot, and hands are going to get tired.

"cunt".

Funny you should mention that now. A great artist friend of mine is in the middle of a fight to be able to sell his comic, `CUNT`at a local comic convention here.

Here`s the comic if anyone's interested: http://chickennation.com/cunt/

Here`s the debate: http://forums.pulpfaction.net/viewtopic.php?t=992

as far as I can tell, he's being barred from a privately-funded convention on grounds on the name and content of his comic. I don't see the problem, or where the 'fight' is. I personally enjoy people eating shit, but someone who funds and organizes a local convention might not.  Tell your great artist friend of yours to not blow this out of proportion.

I hate Greek people...
Did I loose something? Why?

Because he's a time-traveller and he knows that in the future

esper, calm down. I only made fun of you because it was extremely clear ( at least in Helm-land where everything in quotation marks can pretty safely be assumed to be under the effects of stuff in quotation marks!) that I was joking. I don't hate black people. In fact I think they're pretty cool! But I do hate furless cats. That shit freaks me out.

Furthermore, I guess it was uncalled for but I just can't pass up the apportunity to make fun of the 'NNGH I HATE EVERYBODY' mentality. Not that it's not an equally-valid ethical point of view that's just as valid as more humanist ones, just very easy to make fun of. Why am I making fun of stuff on the ags forums? Probably a good question, and the only reason I'm not dragging this out anymore.

But I AM going to make fun of your nickname if you ever come to Mittens, so better come up with some witty comebacks like 'you're one to talk... HELM!'

Dude fuck you I'm serious here.
#1597
Are you sure you're not racist? I'm not clear on that.
#1598
lol you're so funny. Someone on the internet? Claiming he's a misanthrope? Seriously? So fresh! OMG EQUAL APPORTUNITY IN HATRED. Rock on.
