When I say banned, I'm not saying forever. A few months is enough. And if someone is under the age limit but thinks they can hang out anyway, they can lie on their test. If they're mature enough, nobody will notice/care.

I don't think an age limit in necessary. Fluke should be banned on the grounds of being annoying and insulting alone, not because of his age. But if CJ wants an age limit, then it should be enforced.

If Flukeblake were to be banned, it would only do good to him, and 3 years from now he'd probably tell you the same thing. Rejection builds character. Being called on your bulshit builds character. Not being treated with kiddie gloves builds character.

This talk about 'taking away his gameboy' is infinitely more insulting to him than the actual snide remarks people posted in this thread. He wants to be treated like an adult? Fine. Ban him.
#1762
This place doesn't need all that, I think. Then again, during the early ags period one could say the same thing for moderators altogether. I don't know. I think it would be better for Flukeblake to be banned anyway.

Not sure how you guys can look at a picture and magically deduct how much effort has been put into it. Not when the artist is 12. For all we know, he struggled over that horribly misshapen sonic picture all afternoon. However, if I were a moderator I'd still possibly lock the thread, as I don't see what it has to do with art (or music, or scripts or whatnot) that goes into making games. Not even indirectly. It's not even a sprite. But I understand the mods on critique lounge have been lax in enforcing that all pieces are related to games. I wouldn't be so much, but that's another discussion.

Ask your boss, ask your dominatrix, ask your dog (or take it with you in the case we get hungry for a meat snack) for days off. Tell me. Help helm. Help helm help you help helm help helm helm help he

and yeah, flushing toilet paper isn't allowed at pain of sodomy, which I find quite appropriate.

No offense to eric, I adore his art but this template  has problems. I think he'd agree himself. The stance is too rigid, the legs too far apart and the arms to closely put to his body. But the biggest issue is the actual downwards walk animation itself, which you've used as a base well enough, but is faulty to begin with. That's a duck walk. A guy would walk with his feet closer to his horisontal center of gravity, with the points of the shoes facing straight ahead instead of outside-sideways. I'd like it in a specific character concept because it gives a certain feel and personality, but for a template animation, which has to be as neutral as possible to accomodate any sort of character of that frame - no.

Which is weird because when I first saw these templates a long ago I couldn't spot any of the points I critique above, but better late than never.

Probably the worst webcomic I've ever seen.

Cool. Do you like getting beaten up?

18 is minimum age

Precisely a week after today this thread will be locked and I'll make reservations according to the number of people having made a commitment in this thread.

I suggest people continue to use this thread for discussion over mittens if they want, and only post in the other thread for direct confirmation/details about coming. Neater.

Hello again. This is where I tell you about our Greece Mittens options.

It's going to be in Evia, specifically 'Agia Anna' ( stands for Saint Anna ) which is a couple of hours outside Athens. I've been there and it's very nice. When I started trying to organize this a bit, I wanted to avoid camping as much as possible, and get us into houses of friends or whatever, but that fell through completely, so I'm sorry, it's going to have to be tents again. However, all is not lost, as we'll be camping, there:

http://www.clubagiaanna.gr/profile.htm

And I think this looks very nice. You can check out the prices there, although we might get somewhat better ones as we're going as a group, and they told me there's group rates as well. The big issue is WHEN we go, as prices differ before and after 15 of august. So in addition to posting in this thread to tell me that you're coming, I'd like to hear preferences for before, or after 15 of august. We're going to be spending a week there, so each of you should tell me if you'd like the before week, after week, or do not care. When everybody's oppinion is accounted for, we're going to get a definite date, and then people will have to either commit to that, or pass. The monetary difference isn't so vast, really, before or after. What matters is to decide on the date that suits most of the agsers that want to come. Rough calculations show the need of about 50 - 60 euros for the whole stay there. That is, assuming one brings his own tent. Small tents should hold two people, so each of you should be prepared to pair up, get intimate and ultimately do nocturnal massages to at least one other agser, but that's nothing new.

The admission price I've been told, includes some partial nutrition, the usage of the pool, the usage of the minibuses that will take us to the beach and so on, so forth.

What I need is a honest roll-call, so I can call and make a reservation to a specific amount of people. When I called, I discussed a figure around 20ish people, but knowing for sure is better. In the case however that someone bails out, or somebody else decides to come at the last moment, I'm sure we'll be able to work that out. The problem would be to tell them that 20 people are coming, and then only 10 show up. Then we might have to pay the extra reservations, which is not nice.

Be aware that in addition to the Agia Anna camping money, you'll be spending 30-40 euros on the busses from Athens to there, and of course, flight tickets.

If you guys feel up to it, we could travel back to Athens in the last day of the week and I'll take you guys to see the parthenon and get mugged by junkies or something. Downtown Athens is not beautiful, but if you want to find out for yourself, I'm game. Otherwise, don't expect much in terms of event organizing from silly Helm. I don't do that at all. All I can offer is one week of great weather, a nice beach, spending time with your internet friends and the apportunity to beat as many women as you like. Because in Greece we beat our women.

EDIT: Also, sorry for being late with this information. My computer broke down a week ago, and I've been back online in the last two days.

This isn't the actual EGA palette pete posted in the start of the thread. Mine's not exact either.

the arms are a lot longer that you'd want in humanoid anatomy. Also, this guy looks strikingly like the shadow of the beast dude. A plus in my book

The thematic link can be one that is explored in storytelling, or in musical themes or even on the artwork of the album. How broad the concept is, doesn't really matter.

Good concept albums, linked in various ways:

Isis - Oceanic  (lyric narrative, recurring passages, stylistic theme)
Secret Chiefs 3 - Book of Horizons (meta-concept)
Gorguts - Obscura (stylistic theme)
Current 93 - Dog's Blood Rising (stylistic theme, lyric narrative)
Devin Townsend - Terria (lyric narrative)
Ephel Duath - The Painter's Palette (each song refers to a specific colour of said palette)
maudlin of the Well - Bath
maudlin of the Well - Leaving your Body Map (esoteric meta-concept, recurring passages)
In the Woods... - HEart of the Ages (stylistic concept)
Husker Du - Zen Arcade (lyric narrative, reocurring dreams)

also, it's 'Within Temptation', and they've nothing to do with Nightwish, were not influenced by them and developed their style seperately. Nightwish themselves are probably influenced by the band The Gathering, who incidentally have a pretty good concept album out, called 'Nighttime birds'. Also, Mastodon were much better on their first EP 'Lifesblood' in my opinion than in any later album. The newest one, Leviathan, especially, I find very weak. Especially if you keep in mind that two of these guys were in Lethargy.

And 2ma2, I understand what you're saying, but when I use the term gothic in the musical context, I am thinking Bauhaus, Siuxsie, Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim and the like. I don't see why I have to bastardize the term just because the popular perception of it has momentarily shifted. It's like people who call 'Tomb Raider' an adventure game.

that engine assumes to much about how an rpg is supposed to be made, and changing any of the fundamental aspects requires too much code. If one is up to it, why not go with the IKA lib and C or something. RPGMaker is really badly designed, if you hope to wrestle an innovative, challenging amateur rpg out of it.

There's nothing gothic-y about Nightwish. And nothing really power metal-ish after oceanborn either. I don't like Nightwish, personally.

And what Las describes has it's own stupid and misleading name, 'concept album', as if non-thematic albums are devoid of a concept, but anyway. A good concept album I'd suggest to anyone is 'Misplaced Childhood' by Marillion.

once I met up with a group of people I knew from the internets, and one girl from the group had shown me pictures of herself and I thought she was cute. When she showed up she was huge. Extremely radically to the max fat, humongous, unfathomably gigantic. It amazed me that, looking at the pictures, you really couldn't tell. We are now on our third year, happily married and have two, or maybe three kids

I understand what you mean better now, Peter. My main point before was to get it across that it can even become grating to go back and forth a lot about what you want to do with a relationship. I like clear intentions, and the lack of the mating ritual games, if possible, but that's just me. It seems you just found a guy you find intellectually stimulating, and are open to the posibility of a physical relationship occuring. Great for you. I think - in contrast to Kinoko - that you should meet as soon as possible, and see how you gel in real life. Kinoko might have had a successful relationship online and offline for a lot of years, so you might want to take her word over mine, but I think her advice to only meet after a long time only applies to people that actually *are* 14 when they get into this. As you're not so young, and seem to know what you're doing quite well, I don't think you should delay any more than the two of you want to. In fact, I think sticking to chatrooms for too long will potentially exhaust any chance there was for a romantic relationship.
#1778
if 'you've found youself' in a gay chatroom, all pretense aside, chances are you're looking for a date of some sort. That's partly the function of the channel, as you've seen yourself. I think you need to be more honest about whether you're interested in this person romantically, and if so plan accordingly. The ambivalent 'oh this is friendship but if more happens ok' thing I think is not really gonna help. Gameplan. Usually, however, internet dating things go to hell.

I second the Refused suggestion. Mainly 'songs to fan the flames of discontent' and the wonderful 'shape of punk to come'

It's cool. I suggest you do your outlining AFTER you've coloured so you don't get fuzzy or broken lines as you have now. If you're intent on having outlines, you can't go wrong with smooth vectorized line-tool stuff. Don't really persue neat lines made via brushes.
