I think this leads into the wrong direction.
Mankind should seek for dialog with monstrosities instead of fighting them.
#22
Just finished it. Nice dialogs and quite enjoyable for a training game.

If there's a good explanation for it, it's okay for me. But right now I'm just wondering why it's treated differently.
But it's obviously a good way for the lifetime award.

Tough competition in the puzzle category. Seeing Ben, Calin, Auriond & the zombie Cow in several categores isn't a big surprise, though.
I wonder why the users can't choose the best innovation?

I can remember the good old days, when we had 9 entries a month  :P

...as I expected.

Best game that got deleted from the games DB and its threads due to panel's rating...?  ;D

Awesome! I like the other ideas, too. Well, I have no idea what Ben means. I don't know the Deftones  ???

Let's see if I can think of a worthy award for all my games.
Best sexual references, that were not intended by the author for Celtic Chaos 1.

It seems like I'm the only one who didn't think about a penis when he saw the growing tentacle monster.

General Discussion / Awkward Awards

Well, soon we have to choice to honor games that were outstanding in particular aspects.

Ethan Damschroder just gave me an idea:

Also, if there was a category for worst designed main giant foyer room I'd nominate it for that but oh well...   ::)

Tell me what awkward categories we have to invent, so that your game surely would win.
- I would like to nominate my game 'Minor Minion' for best puzzles including guts as an object.

Go on!

Great entries! Victor6, you make me want to replay Fallout, again ;D
#30
I tried that without the " " - stupid me.
Thanks Ben!

Sorry for the noobish question:

How can I change the 'realname' of a character in the game? I searched the forum for the question but the answers are too old to work.

General Discussion / Re: RTS with AGS

Turn-based strategy should not be too hard, but rts ???
I think it will be extremly hard to create a playable rts with ags.
#33
That doesn't sound very difficult to me, but like lots of work. You can handle that with global variables.
Whereever you want that the decision matters, you have to check the variables- something like that:

Code: ags

function room_Load(){
if (Decision1==0){oChainsaw.Visible=false;}
if (Decision1==1){oChainsaw.Visible=true;}
}

If you only want to check one var it's not that much work, but if you have several, that depend on another it will mean lots of work.

I imagine Yahtzee complaining about drinks like he does with games in 'zero punctation'  ;D

Since this reply is going to end here, anyway, I just post it here:

Fading Shades
I absolutely love this game, and it hasn't had any of the attention it deserves.

Pick of the month is not enough attention?

For example the panel rating could have a 30 vote weight.  So if the someone make a crappy  game and then he and a couple of his fiends gave the game an undeserved  5 cup rating and the panel gave a 1 cup rating the end result would be ((30*1)+(3*5))/(30+3) = 45/33 = 1.36, which would still be a 1 cup rating.  There is noting magic about the panel weight of 30;  we or CJ could decide what value is appropriate.

That implies that most of user that actually rate games are unqualified to do so, whereas the panel is full of heavenly wisdom and fairness. I think this method is quite undemocratic (in the sense that every vote should count the same).

I'd like to nominate Atapi for best innovation. I know the system of the communication with the atapi is based on a really old game, but I think it was the first AGS-game with such a feature and it felt fresh and unique!
#38
After Snarkys post an option to choose wether a game will be rated makes more sense to me. But what about the user ratings? Should there be an option for no rating at all or no panel rating?

At least my main play-tester Dr. White is very obsessed with shooting.

@Abstauber
The chances for winning 'favorite MAGS' are not bad, too.
