Finished it. Good game.

Spoiler
I was wondering why the atmosphere of the game had a somber tone. I mean, the guy was 42 and the music and dialog made him seem like he was old as dirt. I understood after the cryptic phone call that this was going to be more than just a regular Christmas. That ending was crazy lol.

Hope you make more.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.

In other news, the last couple of days have been spent killing those horrid bugs, and adding a few more responses for the actions that deserve it. If you haven't completed it yet, I'd download the new version.  :)

How come when I take the
Spoiler
glued cotton and try to apply it onto the Santa figure, it says something about remembering the code of the note? It's the Santa figure, not the note. I've already opened the safe and I've already left the gift on the table. Is this a bug??

It is. I've mailed Babar about it, as well as the bug Leon mentioned with the backpack(it's been fixed but not released yet).

If anyone feels they've come to a point in the game where they can't finish because of a bug, please PM me. There's been enough minor bugs to make this embarrassing, but it should be possible to play from finish to end no matter what.

This is the last time I work with a deadline.  :P

You've probably just forgotten to give your wife her present.

I don't know. Maybe take that discussion to the hints thread?  :)

Appearantly no one wants to believe me (or us) but there is nothing to do. All the hints are great and I'm sure it's me that does something wrong but for the third time:

Spoiler
There is nothing in the bed, nothing under the fridge and nothing in the toilet. I can select them all, and all I see is: this is your fridge, this is your toilet and he's lying under his christmas blanket. There really is nothing to do!! I just downloaded version 1.013 and it has the same problems.

Spoiler
You're right about the second point. After you've clicked under the fridge once he only walks over to the fridge when you click underneath. I'm currently trying to bother Babar to fix it. You should be able to progress, though. Why would there be anything in the bed or toilet?

To open the safe:

Spoiler

-Click the painting in the kitchen
-Click the safe
-Click underneath the fridge
-You can now borrow the hair clip claw. Pick it up.
-Use the hair clip claw under the fridge.

Just finished it.  Brilliant game, thanks HillBily, Babar, and I Stole Your Car.   ;D

And wow!  What an ending.  I didn't expect that.   :D

I noticed a small discrepency though.  It's nothing much, but thought I should mention it anyway.
Spoiler
When you take present for wife out the safe, it's a WHITE dress.  At end of the game, she is wearing a RED dress, and she thanks you for the RED dress.
Spoiler

Awesome work though.   ;D

Glad you enjoyed it. I can tell you as much as I'm aware of it, and it's on purpose.

CROS, I'd check out the hints thread. There was a bug in the previous version regarding the nail polish.

Hillbilly is not around to update the proper link yet, but meanwhile I suggest you use this link, which is a slight update over the last one:

Merry Christmas, Alfred Robbins

I don't have WinRAR here at work, but if I understand you correctly this is the newer new version?  :P

Leon, I'd appreciate it you used spoiler tags in your posts, and I'm thinking mostly of the first one.

Sure - here's some of them I treasure somewhat:

Hand-numbered recording of Charles Manson & Family happy musical hour in Death Valley
Country Teasers - Destroy All Human Life/Satan is Real Again or Feeling Good About Bad Thoughts
A bunch of singles and a LP of Jim Nesbitt from the 60's

I'm viewing this thread with it now and I'm having the greatest time.

Well, I have a 226BW. But at least I can recommend you the series.

I think I ended up with something I'm happy with. I made the eyes smaller so he looks less like an alien/deerinaheadlight, but I still kept the pupil-less look. I also gave him a mouth, but a more subtle one. And hopefully it doesn't look like a smirk to most.

I'm still open for suggestions, though.

Thanks for all feedback. I agree with the beard color, as well as the length of the legs. I adjusted it a bit, added fingers and a few other adjustments. Here's how it stands now:

The mouth/pupils will remain non-existent.  :=

That's okay, he's not going to speak.

Critics' Lounge / Lo-Res Character Graphics
Mon 08/12/2008 22:13:17
Hey,

I've been giving pixel art another try, since I still feel a bit uncomfortable doing it. Here's a potential main character I'd like to polish before I start the animation process. What do you think? I want the character to have a slightly stale look, but I still find him a bit stiff. Any tips on how to improve?

Was there ever any good - truly good - adventure game? - Commercial or not...? [...] Curse of Monkey Island is one of my personal favourites, but is it flawless?

Was there ever a flawless game ever? I can't think of one. The ones that actually entertain me are considered mediocre by most.

Quote from: Snarky on Fri 05/12/2008 06:54:32I bought Tales of Bingwood a few weeks ago (there's also a demo)

Thanks for this. I really like the voice-acting, especially the main character.

On-Topic: I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said. Jokes doesn't make me laugh and the main character annoys me. I have no idea why they chose to have shitty 3D-characters instead of 2D art. The character art in the book during the intro had so much more, well, character than the actual game!
