A bit off topic, but seeing as people are talking about Japanise versions of Zak... Has anyone managed to get the FM-Towns version of the game working in ScummVM, with proper OGG sound? I can get the game working, and I got the OGG files from Soundfont island, but I can't get them to play during the game even after renaming all the files like they say. Any ideas?

Also: is Zac McKraken actually any good? It's the only Lucasarts adventure I've never properly played, but no one seems to feel the need to talk about it much.

I have the files as MP3 files... Dunno if this makes a difference. This is my directory listing:

Mostly, yes, America gets movies earlier.

However nowadays the trend is more and more to go for a world-wide release. Especially with really big movies (LotR, star wars, etc.)

Whether this is because of the internet and piracy, I don't know. It does, however, sound likely.

Btw you can always check www.imdb.com for release dates in about a gazillion countries, if you're in doubt. :)

But Star Wars 3 gets a world-wide release on the 19th. There are some small exceptions to this, but not on a grand scale.

Hope this helps...

You could make a fence in the back of the alley with the city's background beyond?

This would break up the two buildings... right now they look somewhat "glued" together.

Woohoo, it works!

Thanks :)

The site works fine. I can see the link as well. :)

Now, when I try to click it, your server tells me:

It's not working here, either...

Perhaps a case-error in the filename?

It's updated again!

I've cleaned out the first post so it's a bit more up to date.

So far I've planned it out the following way:

Summer 2005: Non-interactive demo.
Fall 2005: End of production phase/beginning the beta phase.
Winter 2005: Release of Buccaneer 2.

With the help of Regnum Eternum, the introduction is beginning to look really nice. I'm keeping it under wraps for the time being, but it's going to be somewhat similar to GK1's intro. Which also explains why Vel is composing a digital soundtrack somewhat inspired by GK1.

Recent coverage in the E-Zine revealed a new location, the docks. I've been actively drawing several more and since I started work on the game in february again, the room number is now up to 18. So, there's some definite progress. :)

If the files are put on an NTFS drive, check which user owns the files.

However, if you login as Administrator instead of as yourself, you should be able to access those files.

Then again, XP can be odd that way... I once used BeOS to copy NTFS protected files to a FAT harddrive. That solved my read-only problem back then.

You can also use Unix for this... Knoppix is a cd-only version that you can run to move your files to a FAT file system... then the write-issues will be history.

I've been working on this screen for quite some time now and it's evolved quite a lot. I'm mostly pleased with it now... I've been experimenting with some new brushes in photoshop and it turned out nicely, I think.

I'm still a bit uncertain about the fountain in the foreground (no water there yet). Also, the fence and bushes don't really seem to work for me...

Crits, anyone?

(Feel free to edit, btw.)

Just a quick 'n dirty edit... Bring out your pixelated brush, take a dark underground and begin painting it with a brighter brush.

Then, add some shadow and it looks nice enough, I think.

Ooooh, make Ron play Buccaneer! Yarrrr. :)

Hey all,

Perhaps this is a very simple question. I hope it is. :)

Is there any way to change the speed with which the engine fades the rooms in and out?

Upon replaying Fate of Atlantis recently, I noticed the first few screens faded really slow. This, IMO, gave the game a very atmospheric opening.

My own game, however, fades from screen to screen very fast. I know it's also processor dependant to a degree, but can't the speed be set somewhere?

Oh, and I use AGS 2.62.

Eric, just wanted to say: thank you! I imported the character, set the transparacy value and placed it correctly on the map screen.

It looks wonderful and the transition to normal screens where it's raining looks really nice now.

Thanks again!
#176
Indeed a good read :) But how could I complain, seeing the coverage Buc2 got... again. ;)

Just one small edit, and that is that Buccaneer 2 will use the Fate of Atlantis interface. As I mention on my website, Depths of Clearbay will be using the GK1 interface. As I can't really get it to work yet, I've decided to shelve that idea for now.

But other than that, it's spot-on. Let's hope it's finished when December comes. *grin*

Also another good book is The Animator's Survival Guide from Richard Williams. It got recommended on these forums quite a lot about a year ago by some highly skilled people of the community.

I ordered it, and it is indeed a very good read. Amazon ships it, among many others. :)

If you could do this as a .cha file, that would be fantastic!

However, I forgot to mention that the game is actually 320x200. I only enlarged the gif so it would be clearer.

I hope it's not too much of a hassle?

zooty, snow/rain plugin rain falls down right? Well if you're looking down on a map which way would snow/rain plugin rain fall?

It would look like it's falling horizontally across the earth.

which AGS are you using?

here is an animated GIF that you can import right into the new ags, how does it look?

eric

Oooh, this looks splendid! I don't have the latest AGS, though, since Buc2 is being developed in 2.62 and I know for sure that Proskrito's template works with that.

But I should be able to extract the seperate screens and use them as sprites, right?

Thanks, anyway. It looks really neat!

Hey all,

Something about this lady is bugging me... the thing I can't seem to get right is the guitar. And her legs... they're bending rather awkwardly... :)
