BTW, DinghyDog, Windows XP *does* go into 256 colours mode.

1) Right-click your desptop.
2) Select properties
3) Goto "Settings"
4) Click the button called "Advanced"
5) Click the tab called "Adapter"
6) Click the button called "List All Modes"

There ya go. Pick any 256 colour-resolution you require.

DG, I agree with you. Almost completely, that is.

UN involvement is a must. I can see where you're coming from, saying that the coalition should clean up its own mess. Agreed, they f-ed up big time.

However, try telling that to the many refugees who have escaped Iraq over the years and are still in doubt about relatives being alive. Try telling that to the civilians who live in Iraq and had a job, a life, and now find it all in ruins.

If the UN can do anything for those poor souls, then I say: Do it.

Hi all,

I've been thinking a bit about this, and how does it sound?

We get a new forum here, called "Game Production". It's subtitle would be: Discuss your ideas and issues you encounter whilst developing your game.

It would be the ideal place for us to swap our different approaches to development, ask each other questions (How do you go about making your sound files? How does this GUI look? etc.).

How does that sound?

Hi all,

As I've got my copy of Fate of Atlantis from one of those anthology-packs LucasArts published somewhere in 1995, I got the CD version.

However, I remember once loaning a copy from someone back when it was released on floppies. It came in this terrific box, but also with a terrific manual!

For Buccaneer II, I want to write a manual as well, and since I'm basing the interface on Fate of Atlantis, I'm looking for that manual for inspiration...

...would anyone know if there's someplace to download it?

But seriously:

It looks very nice! I can see you've let Bryce handle a few things, but I think I detect a few tracing-things here? It looks good!

Also, the penguin seems very nicely animated. Am interested in the mythos of the Yeti.... read "Thief of Time" by Terry Pratchett for a rather novel idea on Yeti's. :)

It's cool!

But, now the Lucasarts style speech gets into the four-lines variety.

Now, my memory is a bit dusty at this point. Did this happen before? I can't seem to recall it. It makes for rather cumbersome reading though, imho.

Yes, I know the game is old. By computer-standards, it's even ancient.

But, I've tried to run it again. I loved it back when I was a kid, but could never finish it. (Too hard, I guess). Now, I want to try again, but there seems to be a timer-related problem.

Whenever I get to the point (at the start of the game) where Sonny is supposed to get a call telling him to head to the Aspen Park, nothing happens. No call, nothing. Dispatch doesn't call.

Does anyone know of good emulators that *work* with this game?

I've browsed the website a bit, but couldn't find out where to download the Rain/Snow plugin. I don't really know who made it, else I would've PM'ed that person.

Can anyone help me?

I'm currently in that exciting phase where you freshly begin a project. I'm streaming all my thoughts down on paper right now about Buccaneer II. I've imported some sprites from Buccaneer (the Richard sprite, and a few others, so, yeah, there's cameos).

I'm about 40% done with the plotline, I would say. After that, it gets fun when I begin to draw + script the whole thing. I've done one background so far, with plenty more to follow. Can't really give estimates yet, as the ideas are added and scrapped at a rapid pace. :)

Depths of Clearbay is on hold, as Buccaneer II is now taking up all my attention. Same goes for The Strange Day.
