It has an oriental sound to it, that's true. :)

The rhythm seems ok, and there's a very classical way of beginning (one instrument, two instruments, three instruments, etc.). It's what I call the "Creed-way" of doing it. In 9 out of 10 of their songs, they begin the same way. :) I personally like a bit more variation in there.

The music sounds as if it will be background music during a certain puzzle screen. Is that right?

Also, you might consider adding a "theme" to it. Whilst I was listening to it, it felt like background sound. It didn't have a flute (for example) that played a particular tune. Right now it's just a scheme of chords... try composing a theme and placing it in there... You'll notice the variations are also easier to come up with then.

Good luck!

The bookscase is indeed lacking perspective.

And the thing is, I drew a nice skyline for the outside of the window... but now the couch is in front of that skyline.  ::) So I'll prolly raise it, so you can see the buildings.

Also, I've updated! The second picture is now up for critique. I tried a Police Quest 3-esque thingy here... had the main background faded out and this room drawn on top of it.

Check out IMDB, they're turning The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe into a movie!

(Let's just hope it's a good movie)

Thanks for your comments, ratracer!

The things on the ceiling are small halogen spotlights, but I'm not particularly pleased with 'em either.

The game won't be made as quickly as "Buccaneer" was. For one thing, there's going to be a lot more "game" to speak of. :) I plan to have the adventure spread across 2 days with something like 20 locations. So, it's a lot more drawing and scripting.

So, stay tuned! :)

Looks very crisp. The detail is amazing. Well done!

My personal taste for Elves is for their ears to be less pointy (think Legolas, or Spock for that matter). But I think that's up to you. :)

Hey all,

I've been hard at work today on my new game. The Strange Day is going into the freezer, since I discovered I like this style a lot more.

So, continuing in the small tradition I've started for myself with "Buccaneer", I present to you the first screenshot from "Depths of Clearbay". You play Matthew Byrne, a reporter who is assigned to the "Orchid Rapes", a violent series of rapes. The game takes place in the fictional city of Clearbay, in upstate New York.

These two pictures show Matt's appartment.

I've made it a bit bigger, so you can see it better. Original resolution is 320 x 200. Once again I'm using Proskrito's FOA GUI. :)

Why can't you set that up?

I've never used Bochs before, but it came with my BeOS installation... and having installed BeOS on a x86 machine, I could just boot back into Windows.

But, given, the program isn't very userfriendly.

Gabriel Knight all the way. You go Gabe!
#393
Errr... try looking for Bochs somewhere on the internet. It's a x86 emulator. It allows you to run Windows or Ms-Dos.
#394
It's a PC game...

...doesn't Bochs function on your Mac?

Oh.

WOW.

This rolling demo is fantastic!

One minor thing though, Roger doesn't seem quite consistent throughout the demo. E.g. when he's fighting with the creature that falls down and is left sitting, he doesn't look as "polished" as when he's walking.

This is prolly due it being in development, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Great work!!

And also: Download Betrayal At Krondor. It's freeware these days and actually very, very good.

I lurve that game.

that key puzzle is pure cheese.  why would i push notes?  i've never push a note, EVER!  and there was no game response for "pick up"  what the hell was that?

I have to agree with you there... That puzzle was inserted at the end of the game to at least have *some* difficulty in it.

But well, it wasn't the most thought-out thing. :)

Glad to hear you like it, though.

Rudeness is funny?

That's, I think, where opinions begin to differ. Sure, when I was 15 I'd think fart-jokes are cool. But, now? Not at all.

Everybody has a different sense of humour, so whilst some people might enjoy seeing lots of coarse sexual jokes being made all the time, others won't. Whilst some might enjoy refined jokes sprang on you in surprise in a well-crafted plot, others won't.

And then there are those few select people who seem to have NO sense of humour at all.

LOL!

Remixor, you have no idea how cool it is to see my game in a Photoshop Phriday. :)

Now, onto my own entry!

Sophia has some doubts as to how "rough" Indy likes "it".
