It's true. Gay people have a fantastic sense of humour. They're also much wittier, sexier and smarter than straight people.

It's pointless to resist... you will succumb to our stronger will!

Mwuhahaha!

Erm... Ok... sorry. :) I'll get serious now.

But for some reason, now I have "Real Men" from Joe Jackson in my head and can't seem to lose it.

I don't think being gay is a genetic defect. For the same reason, you could say heterosexuality is a defect. True, there are more straight people than gay people, but it's all the same, really.

And about the very effeminate gay men, I think GarageGothic summed it up very nicely. It's a social construct. Perhaps they're rebelling against society in their quiet feminine ways?

I don't really know why they'd do it... I came out of said closet 5 years ago but never felt any desire to walk around limp wristed and lisp all day long.

Oooooh, the game was terrific!

And to think I just started a topic where I said I'd love Donnie Darko to be transformed into a game.

If you're ever looking for a partnership to create a much larger Darko-filled game, don't hesitate to contact me!

Now I don't know too much about it... but could it be a problem with the AGP slot?

E.g. if the card is 8x AGP and your motherboard can only handle 4x AGP, that could be the problem...

I've been thinking about this for a long time... not that I don't have enough work on my hands with my current game, but I'm thinking of redoing a movie for my next game.

But, just for yourself, which movie would you love to see as an adventure game?

For me: Donnie Darko. The intricate paradox that is time-travel, the future is set, all things follow a path, the Living Receiver, etc etc etc. That movie just had soooo much in it, it would be fantastic to take it and wring it inside out. :)

This looks spectacular!

It has that perfect look of something which is hand-drawn, but also somehow realistic.

Your style reminds me a LOT of Gabriel Knight 1... hope this game gets completed!

That's the site which has the most information... for now.

I'm also busy working on a huge personal website, but it's not really there yet. :)

As far as story-development goes, I love Pratchett and wish I had his sense of humour and comedic insights. But I do try.

Graphic-wise, the original team of LucasArts are just amazing... look at MI, Indy and DOTT... they're wonderful games.

Also love Jane Jensen. Love her.

Look at the power Chris Jones has....

...now there is Discord.

And so He has made sure that the Bickering will keep his underlings occupied. So that He can stay at the top, as our Leader.

He's insaaaane.

*worshipful*

Enjoy it!!!

Glad to hear you're finally able to make it running. :)

How's Saving & Loading working for you?

(Hint: Try it in normal rooms AND on the map screen as well)
#514
Yup. Am unfortunately very limited in knowledge on the Home edition, but I thought it was the same... hm.

But when you click the "Advanced" button, which options appear for you?
#515
Yep. Then if you go to the "Adapter" page you should be able to set it manually.
#516
Rincewind, go to the Advanced Settings tab in Windows XP. You can manually select 640 x 480 in 256 colours from the list there.

And all the other people, who are very surprised at this bug: BE GLAD! You're able to play the game in XP, so that's terrific for you. Go enjoy it, I would say. I've explained the bug quite a few times now, so read the thread before asking questions. Or do a search on the internet: there's plenty of stuff on this.

Are you using the cd version in XP? It only exists there.

It prevents you from saving games. Apparently there is %0.01 percentage of GK1 users who do not experience it, so consider yourself blessed if you are.

What happens is that the game crashes whenever you try to access the save or restore screen.

Welcome to the board!

Funnily enough, I teach 10 year olds over here in my country. :)

Ok, the trick is not to set "sierra.exe" to run in 640 x 480 in 256 colours, because that won't work.

You really need to set your screen resolution yourself.

Oh, and yes, the floppy version works fine. There *is* a bug in the cd-version when it comes to digitized sounds. You see, speech and the sound fx. That's why it's a bastard to play in XP.

And once again, once you get the cd version playing, you still have the save and load problem.
#520
Unfortunately VDMS is incompatible with GK1.

I'm assuming here you mean the full CD version...

When installing the Windows version, skip the tests. They make XP crash the install.

But, be sure to install the Windows version, then set your screenmode to 640 x 480 in 256 colours (Go to your Advanced Display Settings, it isn't normally shown in XP).

Then you can run the game.

The only problem is Saving and Loading. It doesn't matter whether your drive is NTFS or FAT, it won't work. Or, at least, it will sporadically work if you use it on the map-screen.

The only way to solve this? Running it in Windows 98 or DOS.

If you're running the disk-based version, do as was mentioned above. Disable the sound, use General Midi and hope it's somewhat playable. As far as I've read on the GK sites, VDMS won't work for this baby.

(PS. There's also a patch available on the web somewhere... it should solve some crash-related problems)
