Announcing the sequel to The Mystery of Haunted Hollow.

It is five years after the events described in the first game and AJ is now twenty. His life for the past five years has been difficult, living a life of ridicule for his unbelievable tale of UFOs and dark cults. He lives in a small apartment and works part time in a local garage, but his real passion lies in researching the dark secrets of his home town. His small apartment doubles as an office, and with the help of his friend Bernie he spends his nights delving into the mysteries that remain unsolved.

But the Hollow has also changed in five years. Ever the magnet for the strange and bizarre, the town has grown, and secrets that have long been buried, are beginning to stir again...

Progress: 15%. I am still fairly early on in the game but the story is complete and a lot of the artwork is done.

I am not sure how long it will be until this game is finished but I'll post updates as things progress.

Screenshots:

AJ's notebook. He uses this to get around town.

EDIT: 9/11/04

New screenshot below.

The game currently has 14 rooms and 5 characters so it is progressing pretty well.

The road leading to an abandoned hospital that is a major location in the game.

EDIT:  01/03/05

After several days of full time work on the game, Act One is now compete. This leaves the game at approximately 40 - 45% complete, so I'm almost halfway.

A few statistics:

Rooms so far: 25
Characters so far: 12
Inventory items so far: 20
Dialogs: 19

A new screenshot below.

EDIT: 9/3/05

I am now well into the second act of the game and the end is finally in sight...just. I'm probably about 60-70% complete overall. The majority of the rooms are in place, there are a few characters still to add, and then its just scripting to do.

The screenshot below will be the last one posted before the game is complete.

This will hopefully be my second game using AGS. It was started almost as soon as I finished Haunted Hollow so it is still pretty earlier in development but I do have a few rooms done so I thought I would post some of them here so people can get an idea of the style of the game.

Story:

Freda has lived alone, lost in her own little world of soap operas and daytime television for most of her life. One early evening in spring, the reception on her TV set suddenly goes off right in the middle of her favourite soap opera: Poplar Street.

Little does she know that martian invaders have launched an attack on the earth. And little do the invaders know that they have just made the biggest mistake of their lives...

The game will be quite long, involving more puzzles animation and characters than my previous game.

I'm not sure when this will be finished as there is still a long way to go. Hopefully, it will not be too long :)

I have finally finished my first game - The Mystery of Haunted Hollow.

The game follows the adventures of a boy named AJ, who, during one dark night, unravels a mystery that has surrounded his home town for centuries.

It is available for download at

http://www.freewebs.com/hauntedhollow/Hollow.zip

I think it will be a pretty slow download considering where it is hosted, but the file isn't huge (1.2MB) so hopefully it won't be too long a dl.

I am pretty sure I have crushed any bugs in the game but I apologise in advance if there are any that I missed.

Hope you enjoy it. :)

EDIT: The link doesn't work for some reason so the best bet is to go to:

http://www.freewebs.com/hauntedhollow

And use the download link at the bottom of the page.

EDIT 2:

A big thanks to jannar85 who has been kind enough to offer a mirror for downloading the game which should be quicker than the terrible freewebs site.

Hello to everyone in the community.

This is my first posting on these forums so I'm a little nervous about posting this but thought I would take the risk and see what everyone thought.

I have been working for awhile now on my first attempt at a game. The name of the game is The Mystery of Haunted Hollow. The story follows a boy named AJ who lives in the town of Haunted Hollow. He is awakened one night by flashing lights outside his house, which signals the start of an intriguing mystery that has surrounded the town for hundreds of years.

The game will be medium to large with, hopefully, a fairly large amount of puzzles.

I have completed a lot of the game and have posted a small demo for people to check out.

Below are a few screenshots.

Hope everyone likes it.

UPDATE 15/2/04

I am making very swift progress on this game and at the moment it is probably at the halfway mark, maybe even further along.

Most of the locations are now in the game except for the manor and the church and a lot of the puzzles are in place and playable. Currently there are 25 rooms in the game and 4 characters to meet and talk to.

I have posted a new screenshot of the park entrance below.

Hope to have a new update soon.

If I keep making as good progress as I am (and work doesn't get in the way too much) the game could be ready in less than a month.

UPDATE 22/2/04

After working almost all of the weekend I am very happy to say that the game is now getting very close to completion (way ahead of when I thought it would be ready).

This means:

1: I have no life whatsoever.

2: The game should be done in the next few days.

Here is a final screenshot

I am looking for a few people who would be willing to beta test this game when it is done. I am mainly worried about typos, inconsistencies, illogical puzzles and problems with the dialogs. My artistic skills are far from great, especially, the animation but I think they will pass.

The game is pretty big, at over 35 rooms and several dozen items.

Thanks to everyone who posted encouragements on the game; hopefully it will live up to expectations (not that I think anyone HAS expectations, but, just in case :)).

Cheers!
