I signed up a few days ago. Really nice site, and it looks promising from both a game player and wannabee maker like myself. The experts seem friendly too. So hooray on that front. ;)

It's also nice to see that The Forgottern Element (and therefore AGS) has a standing there. Whilst I may not totally agree with some of the art, the game is extreamly well made and looks fantastic, so it's the best ambassador for us AGS'ers, right? ;)

The only things I use are Ad-Aware and Firefox. No firewall, no anti-virus software. This is due to the amazingness of having SP1, meaning that very few SP2 viruses work on my computer.  :)

Umm... remove the website for starters. It's unnecesary. I'd also agree with the handdrawn name, as it DOES look strange having the same letters pop up...  :)

Well... if needs be CJ will no doubt start a moderator recruitment drive. Or just ask around to see if anybody has any experiance...  :) Maybe we just need to poke CJ a bit to see.

General Discussion / Re: Cancer(?)
Wed 31/05/2006 18:51:47
I have a sister that had brain cancer a few years back. Through sheer luck they caught it before it got serious. She's been clear for six years. The thing is, cancer is caused by mutated genes in cells, ergo until somebody develops a way to cure genetic diseases, cancer is a huge risk. Maybe in the near future, when you go to a doctors, they'll do individual cancer scans...  :-\

For cancer, all you can do is hope. And that generally does sod all in the end.

Mittens wouldn't be Mittens without you, m0ds! If all else fails you can always cling to the undercarriage of the plane and get the flight for free. Don't let go, mind!

On the positive side, if you fell off, at least CJ could get a new picture for his avatar.  ;D

And on an even lighter note, I'll probably be able to come in 4 years time... so make sure attendance stays up, kay? Although considering I'm probably the most annoying person on the planet, I'd probably drive you all crazy in 5 and a half minutes. It'd lessen the need for a return ticket though...  ;)

EDIT: Out of interest, WHY is it called Mittens?

I always have loved Star Trek over Star Wars (mainly over plot preferences), but I feel that if you were making a parody, a SW parody would be funnier and be more easily recepted. However, if your making a funny version, as in having very daft situations in a universe, I feel Star Trek would be more suitable. Also, you won't have to worry about George Lucas sending his death star loaded with cease-and-desist letters to you. :=

Although, on the topic of which have a greater sence of Humor, its probably going to be the Trekkies. Pretty much my entire family have been a fan at one point or another, and we all get along fine. Star Wars is just too serious.  :-\

I like the way my mate drempt up to cause any Chav within 20 metres a heart attack.

"Your Burbury hat's fake."  ;D

Also, go around with a video camera and take videos of them (with their faces as clear as possibe) harrasing people etc. Go to the police with the evidence and see how many ASBO's you can get given to them in one go. The record's about six so far.  :=

Actually, recreating old GUI's yourself is a good way of practicing coding and GUI creation. And knowing how old GUI's work is a good way of learning how to make a new gui.

Basically, it's good practice. Don't discourage him.  :=

... Anyway I've done as Huw "Dave" Dawson suggested ...

Please, just call me Huw. 8) And it's nice to know you've credited all those peeps who created the modules. It's good to know who to complain to if it screws up AGS.  ;D

Hmmmrm.... Freewebs...

I personally prefer using CJB.net . There isn't the crazy Freeweb's bar at the top for a start... Anywho, the site looks great. Most of the content looks useful. I especially like the Indiana Jones template!  :D For the record, just so you don't get angry, fish-head throwing PM's from Module Makers/Template Designers, crediting the designer would be a good idea. Also, some of those templates need descriptions!  :P

On a side note, this definatly makes it easier for people such as me to grab stuff I need. It's on my Favorite list!  :)

Good luck with the site

Nice read. It's definatly given out a few tips for a good game design inside too. Stuff like "Don't copy Blizzard" and "Too much management = too little game = too much management... etc"

At least, that's the way I read it  ;)

Good Idea: Using flash to impress your friends
Bad Idea: Impress your friends by flashing at them.

Judging from the trailer, I have to admit I like it. I originally played S&M:HTR on the disk with DOTT, and I loved it then, mainly for the random violence and the amazing minigames. The game it'self was excellent too.

And of course, it being in 3D is fine. I'd rather have a good looking 3D game than a 2D game most days anywhoo. If they screw up the interface however, it'll ruin the 3D aspect.

If I could remember what it was, I'd tell you.Ã,  Ã, :=

EDIT: Aaaah yeah... it's just something random I put up there. It IS going to explode sometime you know... *chuckles evilly* 8)

EDIT 2: Now it's just reffering to what people expect you to do in a fire situation.   ;)
