General Discussion / Re: Yahtzee on G4

Heh, just think that the entire Yahtzee path of destruction around the city of gaming started here... sort of a proud thought, right? :)

You will be regretting being so pleased 3 months from now. :)

Congratulations anyway!

There are too many to say, although I like the entirety of the falling whale part.

Out of interest, is there a audio version of the books? Not the radio series but an actual audio version?

Darth... MrMister was trolling. You should have ignored his posts and moved on.

That way, you don't decend to their level. Its like politicians heckling in the Houses of Parliament - the PM ignores them because it serves him no good reason to respond.

And I respect that you were being criticised for "zomg its got too many colours", which is just plain pathetic on their part.

General Discussion / The future of Gaming?

This is very Tom Clancy, is it not?

If this is all its cracked up to be, then the applications could be truly phenominal!

Its pretty interesting stuff - this is the next step in a chain of events that leads back to before WW1. Also, the UK and other countries have had troops in Kosovo in the recent past...

I'm sold. They could charge £30 a ticket and I'd still pay to watch it!

General Discussion / Re: What is Britishness?
Thu 07/02/2008 15:38:32
I'd say Britishness is a quiet optimism. I think a good example is the Carlsberg advert with the polar explorers.

Britishness is that sort of cultural thing where you can appreciate "daft" programs, like Top Gear.

Britishness is the feeling to do something. The Independant was a strike against the biased newspapers (The Mirror, Mail, Telegraph, Times etc), Little Britain was a strike against the sit-com, and so on.

Britishness is the feeling that, yes, The Lib Dems will never again be in power. But we'll keep going, and make our mark on the political spectrum in our own way.

In my opinion, though, Britishness is best summed up by Churchill's motto - Keep Buggering On.

EDIT: And us Northerners think that the further south you go, the more classist you are. Aristocrats and the East End, sort of thing.

Thing is, whichever Democrat candidate gets a nomination will most likely who us Brits will end up supporting. We barely know anything about the Republic party. I think there is going to be a LOT more press coverage in the coming months of Obama and Clinton, meaning people are going to see more of them... Awfully convenient for the Democrats, no?

I was thinking about good TV over the last few years, and I am very suprised you didn't mention Life on Mars. That was not only well scripted individually, but the overall "is he in a coma?" plotline is so well scripted. Best written final episode I've seen in a while.

Also, I'm also supprised that nobody has mentioned House, it being my favorite American drama for several years.

If I recall anymore, I'll post em up.

First series of Torchwood was pretty aweful. Too many character imbalances.

This series looks to be a cracker, to be honest. Series One is never the best series of something. Case in point is The Simpsons or Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Which gets suprisingly good for mainstream sci-fi towards the end! :o)

I wonder if it still has the "Oi! This is chrimbo you blimming idiot! Go have fun with your family or something!" feature? ;)

Zombie Awesomeness = Planet Terror. Other than the first 10 mins of the film, its zombie goodness all the way through. Apart from the Tarantino cameo. Blobzilla??  :P

EDIT: Oooh. Green Goodness...

Well, I always consider the "true" next generation of games will be of a much more Tom Clancy feel... but this is pretty close. ;)

Browsing one of my favorite sites - Ask a Ninja - I came across this Halo 3 review. I only realised that our very own Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw appears to have started reviewing games. Although being slightly, well, immature in places - this is Yahtzee we're talking about - It's nice to see that his influence appears to be streching beyond Adventure Gaming.

Be warned. It is very immature and graphic in a couple of instances, although it is humourous and backs up my personal feeling towards Halo 3. (It being mediocre and basically Unreal Tournament 3 without the humour or cool guns, and tries to copy Gears of War too much.)

What ever happened to people NOT making dumb adult jokes on these kinds of threads?  ;)
